This was a much improved performance compared to recent weeks imo. The ball movement and control was much cleaner and more precise. Much less wastefulness and selfishness than we've come to expect of late. We just clearly outplayed them , their first goal was an Onana howler and their 2nd goal very much came against the run of play. The last 20 / 25 minutes did turn a bit more into the basketball / back and forth style. But overall can't really complain , even going down a goal the way we were playing i was much more confident we would come back and win compared to other recent performances. Sheff United are quite poor and negative which helped , but still credit to our squad ; and we could have won by even more.
Bruno was immense , the goals , link up and just a much more controlled efficient performance from him without so much wastefulness that he has showed most of this season. Garnacho never stopped running and a bright performance , Dalot quite good , Maguire another good performance, Mainoo solid as usual , Hojlund always puts a shift in & got his goal and still needs more service imo. Having rewatched the match i think Amad did better than most were initially giving credit as well. Rashford not being involved was a huge bonus - the negativity , poor body language , selfishness and wastefulness removed. ETH's reluctance to drop Marcus most of this season has been quite an issue. Its not a cure-all but right now we are better without him.
Mostly clean solid performance , hopefully something we can build off but never know with this squad if its the start of something or a one-off , to be determined.
But the opposition... Sheffield vying with Derby for being the worst PL side of the past 15 years. The 12th will show us where we really are.
It will just refocus your negativity. Every scenario can be given a spin:
We win well,play great, and keep a clean sheet-Lucky or Arsenal didn't show up.
We get a scrappy win by defending well and grabbing a goal-Unsustainable or "Park the bus" football that is unbecoming of Manchester United(or just lucky!).

We lose-Sack Ten Hag and/or get rid of these players.

@richardjones8699 My point is that playing against Arsenal means the same as playing Sheffield United, if you want to look for a negative spin on any performance, you can if you want to. We lost a 3 goal lead in 20 mins less than a week ago... to a championship side! Cohesion is important regardless of the opposition.

We have got to improve massively I think this game was the perfect game to get some in game momentum and pattern play while controlling the flow and tempo,, if we don't improve we may aswell cash in the 150million for mainoo now he deserves better than the shite we serve most games
Alice I agree with you that Bruno is not the problem it’s Rashford, without Rashford tonight Bruno in the main didn’t try the usual Hollywood passes and was controlled on the ball, was patient on the ball and in the main picked out the right pass, Rashford who is wildly overrated by a lot of fans is not the player they think he is and needs to be sold, the only reason ETH constantly picks Rashford is it must be part of the contract he signed last year as United are much better with Garnacho on the left and ETH is not a stupid coach he knows this but he has to be forced to play Rashford when he is fit, Rashford goal wise has had one good season that’s it he has had more bad seasons than good.

There has been times that Bruno needed resting. Also he can lose it when we get dominated and he almost becomes a liability. I think the Captaincy has diluted his natural game and he can pull the midfield out of position ball chasing. When he’s good, he’s great … we need to enable him and stop overworking him.
still think Maguire can be cumbersome, but credit where credit is due, he has shown incredible character and put ins some important shifts recently

Bruno always gives his all. You can’t question his work rate
The problem with Bruno is that he is all over the place. The amount of times that I saw Garnacho, Dalot and Bruno all clustered in the left of the final third, when we do this, It makes it too easy for teams to defend, especially in a low block configuration. I think Bruno would elevate himself considerably, if he were to trust his teammates better, place himself so that the other players always know where to find him and allow us to shape up more consistently, that is how we can start to develop patterns and style of play.

When a team plays poorly, or has bad results the captain takes the stick. Fernandes has put his body on the line countless times. He plays with injuries giving preference to the team. The stats speak for themselves Fernandes has created the most chances despite the terrible season & being played out of position.

@@JacoWium availability and form are two different things. He is talking about going missing in terms of form and performance. Form wise he has gone missing most of the season and he does tend to not show up / play as well in the biggest matches against the best sides.

Nobody said Eriksen "went missing" against Coventry last Sunday, because he was very much seen, and seen to have a bad game after he replaced Mainoo. "Going missing" is when the "Why didn't Player X play today" jokes go around when a player was actually on the pitch the whole game, i.e. his contribution was insignificant.
