Idk about pickup dude, I've been using it in nuzlockes and if you check while grinding enough stuff like potions and status healing items become a non problem. Also pokeballs as well. It really saves money and time early game without the pokemon having to do anything at all. Also you can get balls and potions earlier then when you get them naturally in shops (like ultra balls, hyper potions, etc.) so it's less about the rare items dropped for me as much as it is the money it saves you later when grinding or going through sections without pokemon centers. It's really broken early game in ruby and sapphire too considering your common drop is a super potion and the next pool (10% drop rate) includes stuff like revives, big nugget, ultra ball, full restore, etc.. Maybe not an amazing one, but C at least
I mean, as cool as that is, you probably didn't freak out because you got a pokemon with that ability, and that's kinda niche as well, as some don't use items, and not catching most pokemon you encounter makes money alot less scarce, so you probably won't run out of balls. "Sap Sipper isn't as useful as being immune to electric is" I think Swampert, Quagsire, Gastrodon, etc. would say otherwise since its a grass immunity to its quad weakness AND boosts Atk which works oh so well on Earthquake if given the chance so if say Swampert got Sap Sipper as a HA then it would be VERY good.........i think also just use Focus Energy with Sniper to make it deadly, my Inteleon can vouch for me
If only white smoke prevented self status reduction... just imagine Torkoal shell smashing and spamming overheat without status drop, it would become super viable
Should rerank this, for Randomized Nuzlockes. Best abilities that work on any pokemon, as opposed to abilities that only work on Pokemon they were designed for(such as Forecast).
I used a weak armour vanilluxe in volt white. Weak armour actually works with vanilluxes stats because while its bulk and speed arent impressive in a vacuum, its bulky enough to always take one hit then fast enough to outspeed everything after a boost and not have to worry about being hit again. But in the vast majority of cases it is just a garbage ability
To me Stamina is S Tier. You pair Mudbray/Mudsdale with Leftovers or Chesty Resting and it makes that thing nigh unkillable. Super easy to see the moves it has to worry about coming that would make the boosts irrelevant coming and those weaknesses are all types that are easy to pivot against. I watched mine on a Sun run virtually solo the Electric and Ghost trials largely because of this.
Technically Toxic Boost is actually sliiiiiiiiightly different from just being a poison-only guts. Toxic Boost increases the base damage of your moves, not your attack stat itself. So reduced foul play damage I guess? Also means you gain more from using swords dance, but not by much. It's basically the same though and this is kinda splitting hairs lol, a +2 toxic boost or guts boosted facade is gonna be killing everything anyways more often than not
Wow thats crazy, i never thought of swift swim + rain dance like that. I usually only bother with rain teams if i get a Drizzle mon, but thats a real eye opener. Definitely see more rain in my future lol
Pickup is S tier in one game - FireRed LeafGreen, because it's like the only consistent way to get berries if your thief mon dies. FireRed Omega can be carried by having a Pickup Meowth on your team throughout the midgame while grinding.
Looking at Defeatist and Schooling in the same context is an interesting study. Defeatist is a BAD ability period, and you want to get rid of it as quick as you can. Losing half of your attacking stats at less than half health is objectively terrible. On the other hand, Schooling is framed as a good ability, it's something Wishiwashi gets to take advantage of after level 20 to give it extremely high stats, but it loses those stats at below quarter health. This is a better trigger hp for sure, and you can play around quarter hp alot easier than Archeops can play around half. Wihiwashi cannot get traded a different ability, and the stats Wishiwashi gain are much more than just offense. On the downside, the weakened Wishiwashi are much weaker. If Defeatist instead said Archeops gains double offenses above half health, it might be considered a better ability. But it could also just make Archeops look like a bad Pokemon, who knows.
Long reach is good, hitting a Pokémon with static ability, flame body, or anything like that get treated as if it was a special move without having to worry about getting paralyzed or burn
Poison Touch with poison chanced moves is busted in nuzlockes, and if you’re running a physical moves that have a chance to para/burn/freeze, you still have a 30% chance to poison, works great for all elemental punches.
Weird that you rank Libero as "too uncommon" because it "is a hidden ability on a starter" but Protean, a hidden ability on a starter, is S tier? Is it really just because Kecleon gets it as well? lol
Now that I think about it, if you decide to put in a special Peony loss clause, you could theoretically farm Dynamax Adventures or Max Raid Battles for Dynite Ore for an Ability Patch. You could get a Hidden Ability starter before the first gym
Just realized as he read the description for Power of Alchemy, if you're not nuzlocking you could use that pokemon right after shedinja and just be like, "Can't touch me now!"
Typically Weak Armor is really bad, but I’ve found that stored power on Polteageist with withdraw is extremely strong. It worked out for me on my SwSh play and it may be good on a nuzlock too
Pickup in specifically Ruby and Sapphire is broken as all hell, there’s a set chart of like 8 items that it will pick up, regardless of the level, and includes rare candies. You can literally farm rare candies from the start of the game if you feel like it, and if you’re not using dupes clause then you can just have 5 of them in the back for getting free shit while you grind one Pokémon. Like obviously does not deserve any change in ranking since it’s not even every game in the generation, but there’s a reason they changed it in Emerald
"This ability's not really useful, I guess it's B tier."
"This ability's actually really good. I'm thinking B tier."
That's actually relative, the ability is trash in comparison to what people think and vice versa.

"Sap Sipper isn't as useful as being immune to electric is"
I think Swampert, Quagsire, Gastrodon, etc. would say otherwise since its a grass immunity to its quad weakness AND boosts Atk which works oh so well on Earthquake if given the chance so if say Swampert got Sap Sipper as a HA then it would be VERY good.........i think
also just use Focus Energy with Sniper to make it deadly, my Inteleon can vouch for me
If only white smoke prevented self status reduction... just imagine Torkoal shell smashing and spamming overheat without status drop, it would become super viable
Should rerank this, for Randomized Nuzlockes. Best abilities that work on any pokemon, as opposed to abilities that only work on Pokemon they were designed for(such as Forecast).
…Randomized just removes game knowledge from the game.
We don’t need a rerank, just make inferences on base games.
29:40 as a recovering league addict I can confirm that PC is making the right choice here
I used a weak armour vanilluxe in volt white. Weak armour actually works with vanilluxes stats because while its bulk and speed arent impressive in a vacuum, its bulky enough to always take one hit then fast enough to outspeed everything after a boost and not have to worry about being hit again. But in the vast majority of cases it is just a garbage ability
"Long reach is what I see when I watch Prager U videos" DEAD LMFAO
It's basically the same though and this is kinda splitting hairs lol, a +2 toxic boost or guts boosted facade is gonna be killing everything anyways more often than not
Take a shot everytime he says ''niche''
"This is so bad and niche"
*B tier*
I’ve been looking forward to this
This was really great thanks for toughing it out
Wow thats crazy, i never thought of swift swim + rain dance like that. I usually only bother with rain teams if i get a Drizzle mon, but thats a real eye opener. Definitely see more rain in my future lol
Nice, Part 2 came out.
Jan your forehead keeps getting bigger every day. It must be all that Emerald Kaizo knowledge
Pickup is S tier in one game - FireRed LeafGreen, because it's like the only consistent way to get berries if your thief mon dies. FireRed Omega can be carried by having a Pickup Meowth on your team throughout the midgame while grinding.
"Regenerator would be S+, but the Pokemon that get it aren't that good."
Tangrowth and Toxapex: "That's fine, we don't need your approval."
hidden ability most of the time tho
commenting a really horrible youtube meme to piss off jan. Jan: “i’m hiding you chat you guys are cringe.” RUclips comments: “am i a joke to you?” 😂😂
Thank you for putting clips up from the stream. I can't always catch your stream, and some jan is better than no jan. :P
Poison Heal SubPunch on a Leftovers Breloom has to be wild broken.
Long reach is good, hitting a Pokémon with static ability, flame body, or anything like that get treated as if it was a special move without having to worry about getting paralyzed or burn
Something that could be interesting is a x-axis for power when applicable and a y-axis for consistent applicability
Jan with another banger vid!
I have waited for this for years xD
„Poison touch is better than poison point but not by a lot“
*puts poison touch below poison point*
Poison Touch with poison chanced moves is busted in nuzlockes, and if you’re running a physical moves that have a chance to para/burn/freeze, you still have a 30% chance to poison, works great for all elemental punches.
It’s been 1000 years...
Weird that you rank Libero as "too uncommon" because it "is a hidden ability on a starter" but Protean, a hidden ability on a starter, is S tier? Is it really just because Kecleon gets it as well? lol
Might include romhacks too and there are XY romhacks but not SwSh
he also ranked alola starter hidden abilities, i dont now if there are sun & moon roms so maybe thats why.
You can actually get Protean Kecleon pretty easily in ORAS Mossdeep City. I don't even think you need to beat Steven
But keckleon kinda stinks dosent it?
Now that I think about it, if you decide to put in a special Peony loss clause, you could theoretically farm Dynamax Adventures or Max Raid Battles for Dynite Ore for an Ability Patch. You could get a Hidden Ability starter before the first gym
Just realized as he read the description for Power of Alchemy, if you're not nuzlocking you could use that pokemon right after shedinja and just be like, "Can't touch me now!"
Sadly, you can't. Power of Alchemy only works in double battles and cannot copy Wonder Guard.
«That’s REALLY garbage!»
*puts it in C, when D and F exists* 😂😂
I literally thought to myself when part 2 of this was comin out as i was watching part 1 again. Looks like i got my answer lol
Never noticed the edit after marvel scale to let spega tell his opinion lol, well played
Typically Weak Armor is really bad, but I’ve found that stored power on Polteageist with withdraw is extremely strong. It worked out for me on my SwSh play and it may be good on a nuzlock too
Finally part 2
Pickup in specifically Ruby and Sapphire is broken as all hell, there’s a set chart of like 8 items that it will pick up, regardless of the level, and includes rare candies. You can literally farm rare candies from the start of the game if you feel like it, and if you’re not using dupes clause then you can just have 5 of them in the back for getting free shit while you grind one Pokémon. Like obviously does not deserve any change in ranking since it’s not even every game in the generation, but there’s a reason they changed it in Emerald
They really forgot the second half of this video existed
Yeah rivalry is good haxorus really strive with it
Tbh, I think magic guard is S tier, because of the fact that life orb doesn’t do damage either on your Pokémon.
So is good for ORAS and the endgame of SwSh, neat
We’re getting there guys… 1 half hour later
imposter haha ditto sus haha purple sus PLEASE MAKE IT STOP
