33012 / D6515 ‘Lt Jenny Lewis RN’ + 438 4TC | UK RAILTOURS head to DEAN FOREST RAILWAY | 27.07.2024

Following the historic debut of the peak, another piece of Sulzer heritage traction lured me a little further north. The Swanage Railway's Class 33 D6515 ‘Lt Jenny Lewis RN’ was in charge of UK Railtours excursion heading to the Dean Forest Railway, hauling the London Underground Class 438 4-TC set 438428 from Eastleigh ECS to Basingstoke, forming the tour to Lydney and onto Parkend.
Owing to issues at Eastleigh in the morning, the tour was late leaving the depot for Basingstoke and gained a deficit in time so it was late by the time it reached Lydney, but was given priority to proceed to Parkend over the DFR steam services, hauled by GWR Prairie 5541.
We catch the tour crossing onto Dean Forest metals at Lydney, before seeing it arrive into Parkend and run round, heading back to Norchard for a couple of hours, before the final sequences show the train heading back through Lydney towards the mainline. We also see some mainline action with IET diverts, freights and more!
