Axis Magnus for normal accounts is 5:2. For Burgundy it's 5:4. Great work on these discussions it helps me a lot with my credit card optimization also.
More importantly, the Atlas benefit is on travel spends where you earn 5 Edge Miles per 100 on direct hotel/airline bookings. Which unlike booking through smartbuy/third parties, gives you the points/miles for the booking as well. So it is effectively always a double dip. 3L travel spends on Axis Atlas in your first year will get you 20k Edge Miles which is a 24% in terms of Accor.
As an Ex-Magnus(good old days) user and a current Atlas user, i wish to add here that atlas has to introduce smartbuy program apart from buying directly through airline site or hotel site. if Atlas allows Gyfter or something - it would be the most rewarding card.
Best of axis atlas comes when you spend on hotels or airlines directly. You will get 5x edge miles if you book either through axis travel edge or direct through hotels. You can use it to settle any payments during hotel checkout
What would be the best way to use 75k edgemiles that i accumulated via Magnus before the deval? I’m looking at using them for domestic air India/ vistara travel or would transferring to a hotel program makes more sense? On a side note,my Magnus is ltf, but I do not do any spends. Does it still makes sense to keep it?
Accor ALL points definitely hold more value, but one drawback is the points cap-you can’t use them to cover an entire booking. During my recent trip to Istanbul, I could only use a maximum of 18k points for my Novotel reservation, and had to pay the rest in cash. In contrast, with Marriott’s Bonvoy points, I was able to fully cover my Sheraton booking using just points.
While paying the cash amount, just ask the receptionist to use the points, They will be able to deduct from that, I have done this multiple times. Only the amount < 1800/- (which is 1000 points) you have to pay because they can only redeem in multiples of 1000.
Regarding Axis Magnus for Burgundy - Although rent is not included in annual fee waiver, you do get reward points for rents upto 50k. I was able to get M4B lifetime free (till I maintained the Burgundy status) because I got it before 31st Jan, so this works out for me.
I'm planning to buy a car for which I'm planning to do a downpayment of 6-7.5L through credit card, as per my calculation Atlas would be the best for the same. Please share your view?
Pranay, great content as always. Quick question please - how do you escalate when it comes to issues with SmartBuy bookings? My money is stuck with them even after a month and Infinia concierge as well as SmartBuy escalation team are not giving me an eta for resolution. Apparently they are still awaiting response from the vendor Sharing this here as atleast my experience would give some idea about the quality of the supposedly premium Infinia concierge to your viewers. You can only judge the quality once things go wrong. This was for a international resort booking made through SmartBuy with make my trip as the vendor. Would appreciate any input on this, thanks.

For atlas you have not mentioned about 5 edge miles benefit you get for booking directly the hotel or flight. I think this is a great benefit. I have 27 cards, gets confused which one to use where!
I am confused between axis atlas and hsbc premier credit card. I would be using these points for airline bookings - both domestic and international. I can shift to an hsbc premier account easily so that isn't a problem. Pls advise. P.S I already have an amex plat travel for using points on hotel bookings.
Hi @Pranay, I'm really torn between Amex Platinum and Atlas. My rough spending is around 2-3 lakhs on travel and up to 2 lakhs on utilities, taxes, and NPS. I'm leaning towards Amex because it includes utilities and taxes in the net spend, but I've heard Amex isn’t widely accepted everywhere. Is that true?

Doesn't it make sense to use HDFC Infinia for hotel bookings, given the 33.33% reward rates with Smartbuy Hotel Bookings ?
