The most difficult project is my (still on-going) electric guitar. There is so many things you have to know and so many steps. I still have to research how to make the fretboard properly... Wish me luck :D
Hello, salute you from Ibiza, spain, my best project was repair an acoustic guitar that was broken, and now i was searching how to do a wood pickguard and i found you. I wish you could see the photos of my project, i am sure you would like it. Best regards and sorry for my english 🤣🤟
Sweet! I need to do this. My playing sucks, but maybe if my guitar looks better people will focus less on the playing and be more like, “Damn! Check out that custom pic guard!”
i agree. i'm just learning to play the guitar. And looking upp how to paint and make the guitar look epic. :) isn't it sa that if the guitar looks awsome u play awsome. :)
The most complicated project I’ve ever worked on was a fancy knife I decided to make. Made the blade just fine but decided it needed an ebony handle and a very specific decorative finger guard and pommel made of copper. Sooo off I went to to make a whole foundry set up from scratch and learn all about casting metal, making green sand, casting molds and flasks … It was supposed to just be a knife lol
Alright uhm, I remade my electric guitar from zero, it was a real challenge to my, it took me a time but finally did and am very satisfied with the result 😃👍🏻
I did something like this with a single piece of ore-cut this wood, just use a template and dry, bake out moisture, and then cut it to shape and seal it so no warping from moisture.
Great Job.... currently i'm working on corbels for my breakfast room (as decoration) and the corners for installation are 5/8" off from a true 90 degree corner ... had to take the corbels apart and I'm having to install the horizontal/vertical sides independently of themselves. I expected some difference in angle degree but not 5/8". I laminated 2 2x6 (trimmed down to 4.5" wide) and they are 20" long. I thought of shimming but i have to make up the difference at the corner due to overall size.
Great vid. I need a new guard so i'll nip out and buy a woodwork shop and all the machinery and make one. The ones on Amazon are around 5 bucks, no thanks i'm sticking it to the man lol.
Sweet vid. Keep them coming. I just don’t have those tools you have. So it makes it hard when you’re limited to tools. When i have All these ideas it makes it tough. It also helps to have a garage and space to work
Thanks staticswitch! And I totally understand the limited tools. I used only a circular saw and drill for a long time. Sometimes you just have to work with what you have. You have to get more creative with limitations so it can actually be helpful at times. Good luck with your making! Thanks!
For sue. Thanks for your reply. Can you make a video on how to make a 12 string nut or 10 string?. I need to make one for a Bajo Quinto Guitar. It has 10 strings and I need to make one. (.024 / .024) 1st set (.036 / .036) 2nd (.046 / .046) 3rd (.062 / .030) 4th (.078 / .036) 5th These measurements are from my GHS string kit. GHS BSX-10 Stainless Steel. store.ghsstrings.com/bajo-quinto-strings/ Just wanted to give you info about the strings and the type guitar I play. This would mean a lot if you did a vid. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bajo_sexto Thanks your the best!! Javier
My most difficult project that i'm doing is a double neck half acoustic and half electric guitar both 6 strings and made out of different old broken guitars
NIce Mitch! What made you want to glue up multiple strips vs. resawing a thin piece that was big enought? Yeah I would say I built a coffee table for a client and used maple which doesn’t take stain well and had to redo the whole thing in oak. It took a while and was a big learning experience. Keep the vids coming!
Thank you! Mainly because I don't have a good way to resaw yet. I could have used the table saw I guess. I hope to get a bandsaw soon that can handle it. Thanks for the comment.👍🏻
Hey Chris. I use Epidemic Sound for all of my music for the videos. This particular song is called "Vivid Space 3" by Daniel Gunnarsson. It can be found at epidemicsound.com
@@MadebyMitch Thank you very much for the response! The strange thing is I found it under the name "Locus Clouds - ILLUMINATOR" by using Shazam. However - that is the song I was looking for :)

Oh wow! Yes that is a big project for sure. I hope to build a guitar in the future as well. The fretboard is the most intimidating part. Good luck 👍

That looks like a stressful glue up! ha. Glad you got it done. The walnut looks really good!
Thanks Bruce. Yea it was stressful. It took me like 40 minutes. 😂

Wow! That seems like a lot of work just because of the angle being off. Good luck! Thanks Nancy!
Looks nice, would using thin wood veneer have been much, much easier?
Yes absolutely! What I did worked but it was a pretty rough way to do this. Lesson learned lol.

Lol. Well said. I like to take the difficult route. Lol thanks
That was amazing good job
Thanks you Cesar!
Glad you pushed through all the struggles on this. Seems like all my builds are like that. Hows it holding up so far?
Thanks man! It has been great. No problems at all so far.

Wow. That sounds complex. Good luck with it!
Is there a way to get the wood already made so that you can do your own art work on it?

Good job
Thank you!
Great job,, did the more rigid pickguard change the sound on the guitar?
Making a airplane prop!
Hey, Mitch! What is the name of the song you used for the video? Like on 4:18 for example
Thanks in advance!

I made the pickguard with an old CD
Mine works too. I used the Woodglut plans and performed it without any problems.
