I'm giving away a BRAND NEW STIHL MS 261 chainsaw! Enter now through November 23, 2023 (Thanksgiving Day). Details here: ruclips.net/video/ZBVu7w2BElM/видео.html
Shawn is it cold or hot starts giving you the fits? I'm questioning my purchase as you are. I have box store saws at 1/3 the cost that fire right up under any condition.
Be sure to run calibration for your version or the saw won't be set up correctly. The version is printed on the handle label. See other sites for specific location.
@@nheng6913 Yup thank you. I had tried that just weeks ago for my rev 3 firmware version. I do think it helped a bit. Plan to do it now at least every time the temp (or humidity) changes by any significant amount.
Thanks..Ive just bought a new MS 261 and couldn't work out how to start it with choke until I watched this video, didn't realise you have to hold in the handle switch whilst depressing the choke..lol
I'm hating my MS261CM. No purge bulb so I imagine the reason it takes 10 pulls to start when sitting for a while is because the first 5 are priming. Hot starting is hit or miss. And God help you if you flood it. Just bought mine in the summer of '21 so maybe I return/exchange it under warranty. Seems like a lemon to me.
If you do flood it occasionally, there are a few videos on un-flooding. It's easy, just hold the saw down with your knee because you have to pull the starter while keeping the throttle squeezed. Also, check for a spark and if good, replace your fuel. I mentioned calibration to someone else. Be sure to run it as it will compensate for temperature (don't know about altitude) and other conditions. If calibration is not correct, you'll have problems.

Thank you, just got mine tried to start it and could not figure it out, feel dumb now. This really help me, love your channel.
@@billknight606 Thank you!
Hi Glen! I use Sthil for a long time, but never had a M-tronic one. So thanks for explanation. Great Video!
Glad I could help!
Very useful, great video!
Thanks, John!
Now that the 261 and 550 are broke-in and you have more time with them, do you have a preference?
Wish mine started that easy, starting to think I made a bad choice with the 261c.

@@cobra-he9xj I wish I could tell you but right now it's at the dealer because it won't rev up correctly.

Really liking that 261, I’ve been eyeing one up the last few months! Is it the 261cm with m-tronic?
Yes it is, I have the same one. When you see C after the number it's a Metronic version.
Yes, and they run great. You will be happy with this saw if you end up getting it!
Do i need to grease the chain?
Glen, your saws need more work, load them up and drive here and we can give them a good long day after day work out!
That would be so much fun! We could do some serious work!
Watched the video and executed it but afer 7 pulls didnt work
