This bike was my first experience into the superbike world. My late father bought it new in blue back in 79. I was 6 yrs old he would send and pick me up from pre-school ....
Sr. thanks for the close-up shots !!! If you are buying something from thousands of miles away, I want to feel like I was on top of it like I was there. You guys are great !!
That's an excellent bike! I wish my bike looked this good, I have this exact bike, sitting in my shed waiting for me to get off my ass and get it back on the road. Last thing I did on it was the put K&N pod filters on, rejetted carbs. Have electronic ignition to install. I did keep all the original parts. Some day it will be back on the road. Love your videos!
My dad still has a '78 GS1000 and rides it regularly. I still vividlly/fondly remember the day I brought my 08 GSXR-1000 and parked it next to his. You can't really see the heritage but you can it feel it when you ride both. Very different animals! But both are beasts.
I had one exactly like that, same year, same color. I traded mine on a 1981 GS1100E with the square headlight. Uglier but still a great bike too, it was a blue one. I liked the slide throttle carbs on the 1000 vs. the CV butterfly jobs on the 1100 though.
I gotta say. I love that lately you have been putting a lot of cool vids up of these original OG sport bikes that paved the way for me to love and ride and enjoy riding super sports and litre bikes of modern. If it wasn’t for these. What I ride wouldn’t be simply put. At least in my mind! I’d love to get a hold of something like this someday! Even a project long forgotten in someone garage just waiting for someone to reignite her fire
Mine was stolen in 1993, in Las Vegas, (still pisses me off). I keep holding on to hope that it will be found someday but know that the odds of that happening are low to nil, my alternate hope is that it killed the bastard who stole it.
Had a 1979 back in the day with wisco pistons , maxi bore carbs, I believe Yoshimura cams with crank and clutch all welded . I believe it was 1077 CCs. Would wheelie 3rd-4th shift at 130 mph. Only bike I never hit top speed on , got it to 155 4th gear, still had more to go in 4th and never topped out 5th gear. Bike was ludicrous speed. Had magnesium wheels and a 200mph speedo. Very angry bike !
dont believe u true owned the same bike u wouldnt hold it on the road at speeds your talking about these bikes didnt handle and would tank slap around 120 mph
i owned the same bike here in Australia had the four into one on mine in 1992 thrashed the hell out of it all the time rang its neck only thing that ever went wrong with it .....it started leaking oil between head gaskert and head but still keeped on going to i sold bike bullet proof motors
Put er in 2nd gear and pop the clutch at around 8000 rpms. Oh yeah. Hang on and move right up onto the edge of the fuel tank. Like a dirt bike rider. You'll get about 30 ft of rubber and smokit up.
For my money the GS1000 is easily the nicest looking super bike of the 70’s

Avon Roadrider 2’s are the best tyres for these bike. It transforms the bike’s handling

Love the videos, would love to have a bike worked on by you guys one day. When you say he went all through the engine, do you mean a full tear down?

Is there a link to some photos of the bike? I know it’s been sold but I’d love to see some closeups. Stunning bike!!
They are very smooth the g's
it's a toss up between the gs and the widow maker. honestly could close my eyes and pick one and be fully happy with the result

I have neighbor has the same bike he bought it new. All stock only 4000 miles.
I bought one identical to that brand new in 1978 and I'm still kicking myself for ever selling it. Dumbest thing I have ever done.
ZUKIFY!!! AWESOME!
👊🏻
What does a twin swirl CC do?? Had an 83 1100 E.It wasn't the bike that 1000 is.
TSCC sounds like alot a nothin???
The Twin swirl concept actually came from a WW11 ERA rolls Royse submarine engine, believe it or not.
They were 4 valve cylinder heads.
