My name is Mark Zauner. I bought that CBX that senior was riding brand new. I can remember me and my wife Madelyn going down the street doing a wheelie at 60 miles an hour while she was eating a hamburger from McDonald’s brings back a lot of memories
That's what I'm talkin bout! I lived in Louisiana back then and a guy used to ride his out of site on the back tire with a passenger on back! Blo my mind! That was at Clyde Fant parkway. Good times🙏😉👍
Funny about all the wheelie stories. In 1982 my cousin bought a leftover 79 CBX brand new. We grew up in a little town in south Central Wisconsin of which his dad was the village president at the time. I remember him riding it with his dad on the back doing wheelies through town one night. His dad would’ve been about 54 at the time and we were in our 20s. His dad just held onto the hand holds looking around like it was business as usual. Those were without question the good old days.
Gorgeous bike. I had this one and the KZ1300 centerfolds pulled out of some cycle magazine stapled to my wall in high school. These inline 6 monsters were the ultimate muscle bike back in the day. What a sound it makes in the upper revs.
You're the luckiest guy on earth, getting to ride every gorgeous bike ever made AND going through time with each and every era of motorcycle history. They are like the TARDIS is to Dr Who, a time machine and you travel on them as they did back in the day.
He is the prohet of the motorcycles resurrection among others but first on my list I see my childhood and youth even as my adult life through this display of beautiful functional art deserves all the glory thank you Ken
I live in New Orleans, La. The Kaplans are the only people I will by motorcycles and motorcycle custom parts from. The only way I will buy elsewhere, is if they can't get what I'm looking for. I bought a 1985 Yamaha 2 stroke RZ 350 Kenny Roberts Streetbike from them. Gorgeous. Restored from the ground. Also bought a 2022 GasGas MC 250 2 stroke MX Dirtbike from them with extremely low hours. I've been buying custom parts for the GasGas Dirtbike, over the course of this past year, as I could afford to do so. She's going in the shop very soon, and will come out as the custom dirtbike of my dreams. Every business transaction I ever had with The Kaplans, over the past almost two years now, since I discovered them went 100% smooth and perfect. They were all very enjoyable. They are a rare and amazing family of awesome old school people, that take pride in every single thing they do. Nothing is ever done halfassed. They go above and beyond to please their customers. All of the motorcycle dealerships in Louisiana suck. Not even close to what they used to be in the 70's, 80's, 90's, and early 2000's. I have no damn clue what happened to them. You won't ever have any regrets doing business with The Kaplans. I assure you. Much Love and Respect from New Orleans, La.
Pristine!!! Great job cleaning it up to brand new Ken and the boys...props!!! What a cool frame. Of course, imagine a 6 into 1 header on that w the proper jetting and open air filter to open it up!!!
I've been lucky being the sales manager in the powersports industry to have ridden just about every bike that was popular in the last 35 years but there is something really special about the 1979-1980 Honda CBX. The 1981-1982 models are great too!
The bike of my youth, in fact, I couldn't decide which I loved more, my CB750, or my CBX, both were the envy of riders everywhere, at that time! Thanks for presenting her in all her rice burning glory, truly a memorable walk through a specific time in life, for me, and many others, of this I am certain!
I live in Louisiana where the term Coonass was come up with! Born and raised here. I'll definitely put our seafood up against all of the other states. Take Care, Brother.
nice bike , get your guys to line up the tire dots to the valve stem: The Yellow Dot When fitting a tyre, you should line up this yellow dot with the valve stem as this is the heaviest point of the wheel. By aligning the lightest spot on the tyre with the heaviest point on the wheel, the tyre/wheel balance is as close to optimal as can be.
In my view. Kaplan ur detailed breakdown of all these super bikes brings me back over n over. I noticed no turn signals on that black beauty ?? The last video I saw. U did 92. M. P. H. In 2nd gear. Fuck man. Unbelievable sound from the mighty. C. B. X. Keep doin what u do brother
I've owned 26 different Japanese bikes over the years, but never put a leg over the cbx. I always thought it would be awesome. The closest thing i had was probably my 1983 cb1100f which was itself an awesome bike, sans the six sound.
Man I hope I have the privilege of doing business with you someday. You consistently have the dopest, sickest, raddest shit on two wheels. And you do 'em up proper. Every time. This is what I talk about when I talk about America! Get Some!!!!
I was a service manager at a Honda dealership when these were new. Here's a performance tip. Put a 1mm washer under the the needle clip. So much difference!
I was here in the Netherlands and 10 years of age (1980) ,and in my neighborhood there were two men who had this type of CBX. They had a Marshall exhaust system. When those guys passed by, I was completely in love with the sound and the motorcycles themselves. I am now 52 years old, and I still think the sound and the motorcycle are the most beautiful things Honda has made. Unfortunately, the prices of these motorcycles have risen so much that it is not for me. I enjoy your videos like this all the more. Thanks! Greetings Mike
Sweet ride. Stressed engine frame configuration. The cam/valve cover is pretty spiffy in Crome. Overall a nice looking machine. The head pipes are kicking it. Nice six staccato into two sound.
Love the big ass engine. Kinda reminds me of the boss hog only this is a way better bike in my mind. Had a 76 KZ900. It ran great. Bet this bike is smooth as a bubble bath. Thanks for the video. You sir are a busy dude.
I saw a guy sitting at the lights at Charing Cross in Glasgow .Changed to green and he wheeled away for about a hundred yards .A mistake to the right and the drop to the motorway below was 40 feet😮.Your CBX will sell in a heartbeat man .A real nutty bike 😮😊and sounds great .
i was a 17yr old MX racer who had never ridden a street bike before. i saw an ad in the lical paper for a CBX 1000 for sale so i called and was able to meet the fellow that morning. The bike was in mint condition and a red one. It felt massive compared to my 81 YZ125 but it handled nicely and felt so planted. i ended up going across the bridge and on the long uphill double down shifted and clutched with full throttle and ended up wheelieing thatt sucker all the way to the top of the hill doin over 80 MPH!! I couldn't believe the power that thing had! Didnt even have my motorcycle licence yet Ha ha! Always wished i had bought that CBX but ended up with an 82 CB900 Super Sport as my first street bike. it didn't compare at all to the CBX
Those CB900 Super Sports were badass too though. I used to own a 2007 Honda 919 naked retro streetbike, bought new, in Honda's gorgeous Glory Red Color. Bike was all stock and stunning. Always turned heads. It was also known as the Honda CB 900 Hornet. First streetbike I ever owned. When you cracked down on the throttle, all of the way in first gear, she pulled like an unheard of Sling Shot, that felt like she was gonna pull your arms out of their sockets. 137mph is the fastest I ever got her too on the interstate, and what truly impressed me the most, was that she was still pulling noticeably hard. I let off though, because was 137mph was fast enough for me. I kick myself in the ass for ever selling that bike. Take Care, Brother.
Ken, another awesome bike! Nice work getting her prepped for sale. Your boots look awesome (that you are wearing in this video). What brand/model are they?
I love these vintage muscle bikes with their exhaust's throaty and muffled growl. I always wanted the opportunity to ride one. I bet they have good acceleration, and haul ass! I never knew they even existed until I started watching your channel. Since then, I've became a huge fan of them. ML&R.
The 280z on 2 wheels. 🤣🤣👍just kidding. Well sort of. What a torque monster. I got to test drive one several years ago and just couldn’t believe the pulling power. But the inline 6 sound is amazing.
First model 1979 Honda cbx1000 Ken that is a beast your videos trying to keep it blows my mind how much knowledge you know about these motorcycles it's absolutely amazing you are number one motorcycle man in the world Kaplan Cycles God Bless America❤
Now that's a bike. You did a nice job cleaning and making the bike ready to go as per usual. The next owner will be more than happy with that bike. One of my US Navy shipmates bought one of those brand new. Totally awesome bike
On the CBX 79 was red and silver and when they came out with the year 80 models, they were black I didn’t care for the red or silver so I ordered all new tins and made my 79 CBX black that’s the one that Ken Senior has
First generation honda cbx 1000 I absolutely love the engine so clean just trying to work double shifts so I can make some change so I can get a bike from you Ken I love your collection of motorcycles especially the Elvis Presley bike that I seen in your shop you were videoing Kaplan Cycles God Bless America❤
I love these bikes, and their muffled throaty growl from their exhausts. Had no idea these bikes were ever made, until I discovered the Kaplan America Channel close to 2 years ago now. Hope all is well for you and your family, brother. ML&R
Bro, I know a guy that has 3 of these in a dirty ass garage that haven't been run in years...he gave up after his first boss hog. Like to buy one or 2, just don't know what they're worth as none runners I'm assuming, thanks.
Those bikes didn't stand the test of time. The japanese dissed the V-twin designs in the 70s and 80s. Looks like their Inline 2 a 4 cyl. design are all but gone and the switched to the V-Twin for the street bike cruiser.
My name is Mark Zauner. I bought that CBX that senior was riding brand new. I can remember me and my wife Madelyn going down the street doing a wheelie at 60 miles an hour while she was eating a hamburger from McDonald’s brings back a lot of memories
Love to see a video of that one
That's what I'm talkin bout! I lived in Louisiana back then and a guy used to ride his out of site on the back tire with a passenger on back! Blo my mind! That was at Clyde Fant parkway. Good times🙏😉👍
Haha I hope she was holding on with both hands.
Funny about all the wheelie stories. In 1982 my cousin bought a leftover 79 CBX brand new. Wow that's awesome cool 🆒️ 😎
1979, year I graduated H.S. I remember these bikes very well. What a Beauty.
Gorgeous bike. I had this one and the KZ1300 centerfolds pulled out of some cycle magazine stapled to my wall in high school. These inline 6 monsters were the ultimate muscle bike back in the day. What a sound it makes in the upper revs.
I have never ridden but I love this channel. These machines are works of art.
I've said it before, I'll say it again.......
Out of 20 bikes I've owned., I miss my silver '79 CBX the most.
It was a beast 👹
You're the luckiest guy on earth, getting to ride every gorgeous bike ever made AND going through time with each and every era of motorcycle history. They are like the TARDIS is to Dr Who, a time machine and you travel on them as they did back in the day.
Loved the 70's and early 80's Dr Who the best. I think Tom Baker played the role of Dr. Who! ❤
He is the prohet of the motorcycles resurrection among others but first on my list I see my childhood and youth even as my adult life through this display of beautiful functional art deserves all the glory thank you Ken
Fact Jack
Is this man a hell of a salesman, or just the only guy you'd ever want to buy a bike from? 😂
both
You ship has come in.
Absolutely both ❤😂

Probably the Best looking Motorcycle Engine ever...and the rest of the bike matches it perfectly.
Absolutely amazing looking Honda. Beautiful
If there is one motorcycle that has to make a comeback it is this one.
My choice for a comeback would be the 1st gen Yamaha V-Max. Absolutely guaranteed to make your adrenaline pump.

What a beauty the only place it can be is in the heart, piece of art. Put it in the museum it needs to be saved.
it needs to be ridden!

CBX what a beautiful example. These sound amazing 👌
Kind of crazy these were actually mass produced, the engine looks massive! Amazing bike!
wow a 6 cylinder. I like 1970s & 1980s motorcycles.

Looks and sounds great. I'm glad the Manic Mechanic got those carbs dialed in, cause it sounds like a real pain in the butt to take them on and off.
Man I hope I have the privilege of doing business with you someday. You consistently have the dopest, sickest, raddest shit on two wheels. And you do 'em up proper. Every time. This is what I talk about when I talk about America! Get Some!!!!
Those are the same tires I got for my 84 cb700 nighthawk! CBX is a dream bike!
I was a service manager at a Honda dealership when these were new.
Here's a performance tip.
Put a 1mm washer under the the needle clip.
So much difference!

Cue up James Brown’s “Super Bad”! Damn they sound so good.
Sweet ride.
Stressed engine frame configuration. The cam/valve cover is pretty spiffy in Crome.
Overall a nice looking machine.
The head pipes are kicking it. Nice six staccato into two sound.
Beautiful bike. The chrome makes it pop.
100 percent badass!! God bless the Kaplan family ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🇺🇸 Hoosier Wing🇺🇸
Amazing looking example! One of the best sounding bikes of all time!

Stunning bike wish i could afford it

What a motorcycle !!
If I could have only have 1 bike.
It would be a CBX!!
Such a cool sounding bike
You can hear through the stock pipes the roar that lies within. These things sound like an Indy car with a 6 into 1!
Those motors are so fun to look at as your brain trys to absorb all those pipes, those musical pipes.
The 280z on 2 wheels. 🤣🤣👍just kidding. Well sort of. What a torque monster. I got to test drive one several years ago and just couldn’t believe the pulling power. But the inline 6 sound is amazing.

I remember Cycle World's magazine cover. The CBX was all over it.
Ridiculous....😍😍😍
Bro, I know a guy that has 3 of these in a dirty ass garage that haven't been run in years...he gave up after his first boss hog. Like to buy one or 2, just don't know what they're worth as none runners I'm assuming, thanks.
ken i have never seen any one wheelie a cbx before
How much are you asking for it? / Where can I find that info?
On our eBay store or call the shop 860-454-7024
Wouldn't take much to whip the side cover's off and quick grey scotchbrite and re-clear so they look as good as the Tank and Seat unit.
All cbx's should have a 6 into 1 on by law.you won't hear a better sound.
This is a little bit faster than a 650 Bonneville.
Man I couldn’t do what you do because I’d never sell anything 😂
Those bikes didn't stand the test of time. The japanese dissed the V-twin designs in the 70s and 80s. Looks like their Inline 2 a 4 cyl. design are all but gone and the switched to the V-Twin for the street bike cruiser.
Sounds wonderful, perfect example of why not to buy a Harley 😂
Damn sounds like a turbo or supercharger . I remember that old. Bike my teacher in middle school had one
Sounds like a formula one car at full tilt.
