- Back in the summer of 2020, I took a trip out to Kenova, WV with Washington District Railfan for a couple of days. One of our main objectives was to document the various C&O signal installations along CSX's Big Sandy Subdivision. While I did not video everything, I put together this compilation of what I did record that weekend.
Most of the footage was filmed August 2nd, as we chased a pair of trains along the first 70 some miles of the Ex C&O and current CSX Big Sandy (Between Big sandy junction and Prestonburg, KY). Coal is a hot commodity in the area, and we ended up chasing domestic loads east, and then export loads back west. Overall, it was a terrific day(s) on the subdivision, including being able to see the C&O signals along with some Chessie and 90's CSX installs.
Nice, it’s good to get those before they’re gone!
What a great video. Seeing those old signals and railroading in the mountains makes me want to go out there (WV) and do some videos myself. Haven't done much of that in a long time. My favorite video.
Much appreciated, certainly a fun area!
Almost though it was Big sandy
TX! I was thinking of UP , lol
Very Nice Carter!
When were these installed?
