The same company that makes the tissue holder also makes them in a plastic version with a sliding door piece that bends the tissue to the side and closes. The one I have was given to me by my mechanic, it has his logo on it. I’m assuming the company sells those personalized in bulk much like pen companies do. The one I have, although a better design, still blocks the mirror.

I cut one up and put the pieces under the legs to my fathers chair. He was in his late 80's and after some blood cloths had their way with his brain his coordination wasn't the best. Every time he sat down he tended to scoot the chair back a few inches. A square of this mat under each leg and it stayed put. After over a year of use it started to disintegrate and it also bound to the floor pretty hard. But the chair still didn't move.

Should always, always, always prep your dash with alcohol before using one of those dash pads. Dust and protectants (like Armor All) will cause the pad to not stick very well. That's why the phone is able to lift it up. After you've applied it, you can then reapply your favorite protectant around the dash pad.

Why would you ever want to put something on the dashboard? Cars have more than enough compartments to store stuff.

    • @blaireshoe8738
      @blaireshoe8738 3 года назад +5

Compartment availability strongly depends on the car 😅 That said, even though the vehicle I'm currently stuck driving has NO compartments except a drink slot and the glovebox, I *still* wouldn't put things on the dash when I could put them on the bench seat or in the passenger footwell (floor), even if it inconvenienced a passenger. Things sliding around or even just reflecting onto the windshield can be quite distracting, and you wouldn't want to accidentally melt your electronics in the sun!

With the tissues, I'm thinking that having to pull the tissues through a slit in the plastic acts almost like a bit of a brake. Could you put the tissues in a (refillable) Ziploc bag with a slot cut into it work? That might stop the tissue from being such an excellent curtain? And it may make them easier to get out too. Please include this one in a longer term follow up, I'd like to hear if you end up keeping it 🙂

I agree on the heat problem for the dash mat. However, I don’t see any situation where a phone would be a good thing to put on the mat. I think the vacuum will be great for people who enjoy the outdoors whether at the beach, inner city, or at a park. What I look for in a trash can is if it will fit on the floor because most "free space" in a car is where feet go. We have motion sickness issues in our family and typically use a small trash can with an oversized liner and supplies under the liner.

I know someone who might have some use for the car dash holders. He has a radar detector that has a suction cup holder he puts on his windshield and attaches the detector that way. When he’s parked he doesn’t always want to detach the detector from the mounter. He found a spare piece of almost foam but flatter (not sure where he got it from) and fashioned a cover for the top of the detector. He takes this cover off when driving around but he is always forgetting where he put it. I think if he had something like this dash holder he could cut it to fit his detector and then stick it to the dash when not using it as a cover so he wouldn’t be misplacing it regularly. Also I’m glad to see that this holder can withstand temperatures up to 120 F. He has the makeshift cover to protect the top of the detector from the heat. It doesn’t get higher than like 90’s where we are in the summer and he also uses a windshield cover to protect the rest of the car from the heat as well.

I have the tissue thing and I love it. I don't think I have that exact one, so the dimensions might be different, but I put fast food napkins in there and have bad no issues. I don't fill it full to the point of friction, but it can store a lot. I put it over the passenger visor so it doesn't block my mirror. The napkins also don't stick out and get in the way of view.

I've had one of those visor tissue dispensers in my car for a while, but I use it for disposable masks. Less needed now that I'm vaccinated, but nice to have if a location still requires one, or someone else needs one.

You should try fast food napkins in the tissue holder thing.

The tissue holder may be better converted to a mask holder (?) I’m not sure how long we’ll be using masks but for now it may be helpful.

For the tissue holder how about using all the extra napkins you get from fast food stops. Still interlocking but firmer.

I was going to mention that. I’ve had a tissue holder, purchased at Dollar Tree, for about six years. I use it to keep all of my extra napkins

Love the car gadget videos, they’re some of my favorites! But for the car trash cans, I’ve seen some Amazon pictures show that you can put the strap inside your center console so it sits between the two passengers on the floor! It would be an issue if someone sits in the middle, but you should look into that configuration!

Yup, that's where I place mine. Also, there are def better car trashcans than the one featured in this video. So save yourself the headache of dealing with that magnet and fail tissue box holder lol

Totally agree on the vacuum price. I think $45 at the very most. Considering whenever I vacuum the car, I usually just use the house vac or sometimes the shop vac, because they have WAYYYYYY more power, and hold way more dirt and whatnot. But it could come in handy if you kept it in your car for those SURPRISE moments.

The air freshener is cute. I think I would put the tissue box on the passenger side. I think maybe the first refill didn't work too well because you put them in with the folds to the back; just a thought...

I e had the tissue holder in my vehicles for years. Passenger side..and I keep napkins from fast food in it. Great to reach across and grab a napkin while driving. Mine are all tempo brand.

6:30 - I had one of these 15 years ago. Back then they were selling thin travel packs of tissues that fit perfectly. Once they stopped selling those I got rid of the gadget. It worked well otherwise.

Yeah I had one too. It was great when you needed a quick tissue to sneeze or a small clean up. You would think if someone is remaking the dispenser they would also sell the refills. I mean where are they getting the first pack they include with it?

i have one of those dash pads, and one thing i learned, if you use armour all or dash treatment, you'll have to clean that spot off cause the treatment doesn't allow the pad to stick anymore, it has to be a clean spot

In regards to the visor tissue holder. We bought one from the 99¢ only store. Not as nice looking as the one you show but same concept. Works fine. The store also sells a 3 pack of refills for 99¢. Not a bad deal. Thanks for your reviews.

I have a similar tissue holder and use it for napkins and it works great for me. I have it on the passenger side and we never use our mirrors. Before getting it we would store napkins between the visor and roof so we couldn't use the mirror or visor, so we essentially got the visor usability back so good enough for me.

The sticky mats will leave a residue behind if they are left long term with out moving or cleaning. If the dash is really hot at the beginning, they have a slight issue of "sticking" to dashboard. But otherwise they are nice to have.

U can always spray your favorite sprays on the air freshener discs..!
And u can put the tissues on the passenger side so it doesn’t block the mirror.
Gosh, the streets in your town hardly has any traffic, nice!

I don't have the same car trash can, but put my car trashcan in the legroom of the middle back seat of my car.
I usually have the middle armrest down back there and no one sits there.
When I'm driving, I can easily put my trash in it from the front seat.
I put stuff on the front passenger seat.
