Another great video Biff! I'm pretty impressed how fluidly you switch in and out of the float position of that FEL. That's a skill that I hope a lot a lot of your viewers learn and appreciate. The Kubota BX can do A LOT in the right hands and your excellent at showing it all off in your videos! Leveling with a bucket takes a lot of practice and you definitely make it look easy. I watched this video 3X! Keep 'em coming bro!....waiting for the next one!
Thanks man! Means a lot to me it really does, I’m glad you enjoy watching me go to town on this little tractor and glad I’m able to properly show off it’s capabilities. One of the biggest reasons I made this channel to begin with aside from meeting awesome people just like yourself! Thanks for watching and new video coming soon! Got a little busy this last week so I’m a little behind on getting videos uploaded but should have another video coming again by Saturday morning of me finishing that “100 tons of dirt” job. Appreciate your kind words!!
Thanks buddy! I have done a ton of upgrades to it since this video tho I havnt made any new videos on it, I plan on doing a Cummins update video soon tho.. I added a much larger 62mm turbo to it, I also added a 4” down pipe, a new billet Tripple disk converter, and a nee billet flex plate .. I’m pushing about 48-50psi with my new upgraded turbo and the truck makes some really good power. I also did head studs too a few weeks ago to handle the high boost pressures 👍🏻 Thanks for watching!
@@thatcherslawncare4713 very cool man! The 6.7 is awesome, lots of power from the factory specially once you delete all the emissions crap. You’ll really like that truck. Check out “power driven diesel” they offer lots of great upgrade parts for Cummins pickups.. that’s where I got all my upgrades from 👍🏻
Haha I totally agree man. They all sound very much alike even the 2 cylinder Kubota engines sounded very much the same.. I feel the same way about 3 Cyl yanmar engines as they all have a Similar sound to one another as well. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻
Greetings Biff...another great video. I have a BX 23S and am really enjoying it, however my skills are no where near your level. It would be awesome if you did a video on your tricks and techniques for grading and smoothing etc. I always look forward to your new videos.
Hey William thanks buddy, I appericate the kind words! I have always wanted to do a video of (how I grade with my bucket) as I have been asked to make this video so many times before. It’s not easy tho for me to explain what I do so Iv been trying to think up a way I can not only explain what I’m doing but to try and capture it on video as I’m doing it. It’s gonna be quite challenging but I know a lot of you guys would appreciate it. Best advice I can give you is just stay at it, the more seat time you give yourself the easier it will become for you.. also clearing land with the bucket is a great way to get better with the loader, I cleared many acres of land when I first got my Bx before I even started my channel and it got me insanely good at using it because I had to predict and picture in my head what my bucket was doing out in front of me.. over time the picture in your head becomes more and more clear and using the bucket becomes easier and easier as this happens. Thanks for watching and be sure to stay tuned this summer where I plan to do a lot more bucket working videos!
Around here, in the Eastern part of Massachusetts, we use “yard” as measure for top soil. Gravel, sand and stone we measure by the “ton”. I am doing a section of my yard and using my 1850 I have brought in 2 loads of 2 yards of top soil to level out a pitch that is just shy of roll over angle. Between now and Columbus day is great weather for seed to take before frost sets in also around here. Just cutting grass with my Simplicity Lawn tractor requires me to lean into the slope. Look forward to watching the rest of the job.
Hey Wayne it’s nice to meet you. Awesome man, sounds like you have a fun little project going for your 1850. These are really awesome tractors! We measure topsoil both in tons and in yards around here.. I’m just so use to dealing in tons that I typically measure topsoil out in such a way as well.. but you can do it either way around here and most places know how to do the calculations to get you what your asking for delivered. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed.
The best part is I am using big pebbles to create an up hill and down hill small retaining walls to offset the incline. I am amazed at the strength the hydraulics have ,When you up the rpms to get maxim lift to pick up boulders ranging in 14” to18” round size. I haven’t tried the shims yet either. And there are plenty of stones in Massachusetts to make walls with.
Wayne Higden yah the bx is a powerful machine for its size. It’s got even more power when adding the shim kit. I was blown away by the difference it made, you’ll have to let me know when you do it
Wonderful job! The more I watch these videos the more I want a loader for our BX. But Clayton would keep everything dug up around the house! Haha. Have a great weekend!
Haha thanks man! Yah you should get one! They are only $3800 installed! Not bad at all if you ask me. If you do buy one however I’ll be expecting to see some videos on it! Haha. Thanks for watching as always!
New subscriber here, found your videos while trying to decide on a tractor I want to get for my property and to do some side work with. I have at least come down to either Kubota or John Deere. The sub compact models which Deere only has one. I am also looking at the compact 2301 and 2601 models as well. There are so many models to choose from and things to consider. I have only watched a couple of your videos so far but so far I like your way of showing the details of what your trying to accomplish and you are very good at doing things with less attachments then what I see on other channels. Cant wait to watch some more! And this will be my first tractor so I am definitely a newbie!
Joseph Benge hey Joe its nice to meet you! I’m glad your enjoying the videos and subscribed. I have the bx2370 and my father actually has the John Deere 1023e. There is also a 1025r that John Deere makes.. the John Deere is a good tractor as well, a lot of it is gonna come down to your comforts and what feels better for you.. go around to different dealers and try to sit in them and try them out, I think from there you will quickly see what feels better for you as a tractor purchase is a big purchase. From there make sure you size the tractor for the type of work your gonna be doing, how much property do you have?
I got to try out the 1025R and the 2025R from John Deere and the 2610su from Kubota. Ive sat on and checked out most all kubota sub compact models and even Massey Fergusons 1723 and Mahindras 26xlt. I have about 2 acres of ground with some woods. I want to clear some of it for building a garage and putting up some fencing, tilling up the yard and leveling it and reseeding. I also have about 200 feet of gravel drive which needs work and maintained. I have an xmark mower so mowing is not a concern. Do you ever wish you had a little bigger tractor, or do you think it wouldn't work for the type of jobs you normally do? Thanks for the help!
Haha you have that right don, going to spread it all tommarrow.. the plan was to get it spread last weekend but the home owner changed his mind on a few things which set me behind schedule, I did tell him however that the sooner we get that topsoil spread the better, as it doesn’t take much moisture to get it to start clumping up. Thanks for watching man 👍🏻
Great videos. Didn't know there was a following for my little BX25 until I came across your channel a couple weeks ago. I love the little tractor. Sometimes I wish I had bought a bigger tractor but I love not having to store a conventional FEL/Backhoe. I've had to think about what I do and I've learned quite a few things from watching your vids. Good job and thanks for sharing this. I really don't think most people can appreciate the learning curve skill it takes to make a nice, level surface wilt a FEL. I've been doing this stuff for my few acres and driveways off and on for years as needed (and am still hit and miss). Have a box blade that collects dust now but paid for itself on its first project. If you don't mind answering: Are you floating the bucket when you push or when you drag? I thought so at firs but I don't usually see your bucket dipping with the ground so maybe not. Its hard to tell for sure in the sped up playback.
Hey man thanks for your comment and I’m glad your enjoying the videos! When I was grading that I used a combination of float and no float.. one thing that I do a lot when filling in low spots is I’ll dump the dirt just after there the high spot goes low, then I’ll drop the bucket down on top of the high spot right in front of where the dirt pile is that I just dumped.. this gives me the correct height that I need to make it level.. and then I click the loader back OUT of float before moving forward to spread the dirt.. this allows me to use my loader almost like a depth gauge.. I drop it down on the high spot with float then click it out of float just before coming off the high spot when driving forward to push my pile of dirt.. I hope this makes sense.. that’s just one of the many techniques I do that I have sorta taught myself over the years.. and the way your tractor is angled and pitched also plays a big role when grading and leveling ground.. you always gotta be mindful of how the tractor is sitting and if there is a dip on one side or the other that you need to accommodate for or change direction when grading.. try what I just told you and see how it works for you, after awhile you’ll get it, just takes a lot of practice.. Iv got quite a bit of seat time now so I’m pretty comfortable so the more you play around with your tractor the more you’ll get the “feel” for it.. as a lot of what I do is by feel. Hope this helps man! Hope you stick around to watch more, if you liked this video I think you’ll love all my others. 👍🏻
@@BiffsEquipment Thank you Sir! That definitely does help. I'll be doing some driveway work as soon as we're done with some seasonal clearing and seeding. This time I'll practice the fills like you said and use the float to find my level before locking the bucket. BTW, I took a look at my F350 radiator today after watching you pull the Ram radiator some time back and it's no joke. Love my truck but that would be a big PITA with the superduty compared to what you did.
Fixxer awesome man glad I could help! Also experience with back dragging different materials and different positions with your bucket curl.. you can back drag many different ways, with the front cutting edge; with the flat bottom, with the very backside of the bucket, or anywhere in-between.. and all angles will do something slightly different depending on what type of material your trying to back drag and how heavy the material is.. so play around with that and figure out what works best for you. Good luck on your new job man! I’m sure you’ll do great. And that’s funny about your ford truck, yah fords can def be a nightmare to work on at times. I was an automotive mechanic for most my life before I got into landscaping and finally gave it up so I’m pretty familiar with working on different types of vehicles and fords were always one of the worst haha.. not THE worst tho.. German vehicles have fords beat on that but they can sure be tricky at times. Thanks for watching!
Great videos brother, I just bought a Kubota Bx 2680 a couple weeks ago. Can you make a video of how you find/get jobs with your tractor? I’m wanting to work some side jobs and get more seat time on the Bx! Take care man, keep up the good videos.
Hey jay, nice to meet you. I’m glad you enjoy my videos! I will def try to make a video about how I get my jobs in the near future! Best advise I can give you is once you find a few small jobs, give the people a great price so they call you back, make them very happy and they will tell more people about you, before you know it you’ll be in business just by word of mouth alone.. slowly as your skills get better and your customer base increased you can then slowly raise your prices. Hope this helps!
Can you play some of the spreading and leveling work in real time? I’m trying to analyze how you do it so I can emulate it. I always end up with clumps or divots at one end or the other. I always have a hard time trying to blend it with the surrounding area too.
Hey James sorry about that, yah I know it can be tough to follow along when it’s sped up like that, some of my jobs are very big and take a long time so I have to use “time-lapse” mode on my camera in order to fit all of the footage down into a reasonable size and length video.. I do however have other videos that I have been making of me working around my house where I do real time footage or slower footage of me digging/grading and leveling ground.. check them out and let me know if that helps.. but I will in the future have more videos where it’s slower and some day plan to make a video explaining what I’m doing when I’m grading with my bucket while I’m doing it.. I just have to wear a microphone to do that and I don’t own one yet. Hope you stick around! Thanks for watching.
A Kubota bx with a loader and nothing on the 3-point hitch technically should fit on a 5x10 so long as you don’t have the mower deck on. Mine is only a 5x12 but I getting rid of this trailer next summer for a larger tandem axle. This trailer for me has worked great tho, just don’t have the space. Make sure If you run a single axle trailer you are checking the load rating, my trailer is heavy duty and had a large 3500lb axle which makes it ok to carry the tractor on it but any lighter of an axle and it would get sketchy. Hope this helps man.
Also the other issue with a 10’ trailer is being able to apply enough tongue weight to your toe vehicle, with out enough tongue weight the trailer will become extremely dangerous and Squirrelly so it is recommended to at least get a 12’ so you can better distribute the weight of the tractor towards the front of the trailer and onto the tongue. That being said I have seen people use 10’ trailers before for these tractors.
Hey Kasey.. I do, and did, just hard to tell in the video but I often use the back of the bucket to back drag sometimes I use the back of the bucket more than I do the cutting edge or bottom.. it all depends on the material as well as how much the material weighs and whether it is wet or dry. Thanks for watching.
It is.. it keeps down pressure on it because otherwise it rattles.. I need to make a rubber hanger or grommet under the hood for the stack just haven’t gotten around to it since I installed the stack so the bungee has been there since
