Nope this is puny even smaller than my 2018 fiesta se beater is! That compact b segment doesn't sell well at ALL here in the U.S. Just 6-8% of the total annual sales. And you need volume to make sheap small cars work. Also the chevy bolt was just as cheap or CHEAPER with ev credits and didn't sell well with more space, more POWER and more range! 😀
We already had the Chevy Bolt, and look at all the used EVs that have seen significant value drops. We already have cheap EVs. And people still think they're too expensive.

@@CarSceneKorea loving it. It’s „only“ the 2021 RWD big battery version but does the job very well. Of course there is room for improvement, especially for newcomers and people not as interested in EVs like the poor route/charging planning or the big difference in estimated and actual range when on the motorway (Germany) - I feel like the system struggles here a lot. Constant sound feedback is also not for everyone (beep beep beep…) it’s comfy and roomy and traveling is nice, also with family or a lot of luggage. Fits a lot and handles really well for its size in my opinion. Haven’t been considering a change thus far, overall had just one big problem with the 12V battery which was obviously not a secret. The ev6 and ioniq5 before September of last year (almost?) all had it… long story short: I am happy and can still recommend it, especially because there is literally no compromise for a reasonable price tag
Thanks for sharing, except for those things that are shared upon all EVs, seems like most of the IONIQ 5 (EV6) owners are greatly satisfied with the car, including my friend's parents whom I've convinced to get the IONQ 5 as their first EV. IONIQ 5 PE did get some improvement, but none of which you've listed unfortunately. Can't wait for the next all-new model!
I grew up witnessing German engineering in automotive design and have always looked up to and admired their work. Koreans and others have caught up really fast indeed, but there's no way you guys are history just yet. You're still pioneers and great inventors as always 🙌

I can see how they have extended the wheel base which combined with the additional height results in the additional storage options, legroom and increased comfort for the rear passengers on longer journeys. Also Really like the design of the front seats with the integrated cup holders.
That would sell big in the US depending on its range. If it can get 250 miles and its marketed correctly for the segment of car buyers that don't plan to road trip much, it'll go.
Interesting observation, the yellow model you drove has even ventilated front seats. How cool to see in that class. Together with that 2nd row versatility makes it hopefully sell like hot cakes.

When Rivian revealed the R3, everyone went wild. There is definitely a market and demand in the US for cheap compact EV's or just compact vehicles in general.
That looks like my next car. Finally an affordable EV. And it fits into a regular parking spot. Would be even better if it had much fewer attention seeking electrical gadgets, but you can't have everything.

The only downside would be slightly lower range, which for people buying this type of car is not even a problem...

Yes, confirmed by Hyundai, but the review I do is based on Korean models. Some say theres a chance of different markets getting different batteries, but it is NCM for Korean models for sure.
It's unfortunate this won't make it to the States. Americans like bigger vehicles which would be my guess why it won't make it here but I hope Hyundai develops a cheap EV like this for us because the design inside and out works. It's not too futuristic looking, but has all the bells and whistles. At this moment we only have the Kona and Ioniq 5 but with government mandating EVs, I think more models will need to be had.
This car is actually quite cute. I really like orange and silver. I was never a fan of ice version but this I’d consider in Korea although ev3 seems like a better deal overall.
My dad, who has only driven German cars ever since he got here in the 90s, took one look at an ionic 5 and was instantly smitten by it. After I moved out, my parents don't have a need for a family car anymore, so they are looking to downsize from a SUV. Looks like a Hyundai might be a legitimate option if they keep their current track record.

They didn't specify initial payment amount either. This is crazy competitive with French newer A segment such as eC3 Dacia Spring and R5
So this is basically an electric Venue with their older digital display. Use those parts 😉 They really should bring this to North America. We need more affordable options.

Judging by how Hyundai & Kia EVs were, I'd say it won't be impossible to get the 250 miles from time to time when conditions are met :)

You could fit yourself by tilting the driver seat, but not sure if it'd provide the optimal driver seating position though.
The space in this car is crazy, you can have a 190cm driver and a 190cm passenger behind them no problem.

Promising small ev car. I know it's supposed to be a tiny car to be less expensive but wishing they come up with a slightly bigger version to haul a small family and more cargo space.
We will soon see more IONIQ series :)
