Well done, you have presented a balanced and intelligent review. You have helped R18 curious understand what the bike is all about and whether they should go out and test ride one.
Thanks Charlie, for your honestly which ( practicality, brakes, thottle control, lean angle etc....) is rare these days. I considered the R18 however at 20K + as a novelty, I think I'll pass. I have enough big bikes, 2014 Valkyrie, 2017 Moto Guzzi MGX-21, 2007 hayabusa, 2023 Triump Thurxton RS and a few more... Again, great review. You got a subscriber.
There are brand new ones sitting in dealer showrooms all over the country that are heavily discounted and they still can't get rid of them. I think it blows Harley out of the water, but people want that bar and shield unfortunately.
Pro tip: before you haul it off the centre stand, force the bars all the way to the Right, then you should find its way easier to get it up. Let me know how you go!
that's a side stand. a center stand lifts the rear wheel off the ground. the locking mechanism makes it, technically speaking, a "Jiffy Stand". A once Harley Davidson owned patent. "jiffy" referring to how quickly and confidently it could be deployed.
Out of all the R 18's, I think the Roctane makes the most sense. The Roctane is essentially a cooler bagger in my eyes. But yes that one is still cool. Transcon is too big and also irrelevant to me compared to K1600 and R 1250RT, and the basic bike is just basic.
test rode this 4 Sept 2024 front brake very weak, no feel from the lever, and it was nearly touching the handle bar !!! rear brake very difficult to apply pressure, downwards with floorboards fitted. the speedometer was built into the headlight, nice feature but its too flat, and difficult to see (its not pointed at the rider, its pointed at the sky) at 80 to 90 speed, the wind was very turbulent, and plenty of wind noise (same the crash helmet on the HD Sport Glide and similar speed, very quite and clean air, not turbulent) suspension was very hard at the rear, and not forgiving at all. NOT recommended by me!!
"lane filtering?" That's what Californians now call lane splitting? Smh* I swear- California just need to go ahead and break off the rest of the US and drift on out to sea already.
Lane filtering is when you make your way to the front of traffic stopped at a light. Lane splitting is when you ride between moving vehicles on the road. Colorado and Arizona have also passed various lane filtering and splitting laws recently. Hope this helps!
@@DailyMotor Yeah. Thanks for clarifying. Lane splitting and filtering are illegal in VA. Motor cycles are considered vehicles, just like the 4-wheeled variants, and aught to be subject to the same traffic rules as everyone else, and wait in line. Plus, there's the safety factor. Just saying.
@@timo.5449Florida has the highest number of motorcycle accidents and no lane splitting. Motorcycles should be able to lane split, having states either no helmet laws but can’t lane split is just as ridiculous, would rather wear a helmet and lane split than the opposite.
@@grimstar8402 Well- no surprise to us Virginians that Floridians keep a high rate of motorcycle accidents, let alone car accidents (FL's #2, right behind CA). Floridians drive (and ride) like hooligans. The other day, I was passing a truck, when a Florida man passed both of us using the emergency lane at what seemed to be about 100 mph! But I digress. You said motorcyclists should be able to lane split. My question is- besides maybe in an emergency- why?
Lane filtering only benefits cars. If a bike can't filter and you're behind it at a light, it's taking up room in front of you and has to wait for the cars ahead. It's a hindrance to you personally. If a bike can filter ahead of you, it takes up no space and pulls away before the cars. Your space in line and time delayed is literally unaffected. It's as if the bike wasn't there at all. In short, get over it. Splitting is more common than not across the world. In America, it is a bit sketchy but that's because of the selfish chud attitude of people like you. If there's space for a bike there's space for a bike. Here's another law for you to get mad and complain about; some states let motorcycles run reds. Look up dead red laws then cry about them getting to do that too 😂
Hello? Are you going to answer me? You can't give a simple account of your own words you felt so proud to say in front of the RUclips world? What's wrong? Again.... the term "ape hangers" has been around for many decades.. why would "ape hangers" all of a sudden be considered socially unacceptable?
Did you adjust the suspension coming from the dealer like you're supposed to? No. You didn't. That's why you're scraping on the turns. Had you adjusted the suspension, you wouldn't have this problem. Asjusting your riding style is not the advice you need to be giving. You need to get a clue, little boy
Got mine Thursday. Have done 400 km on now and i love it. Hade a 2019 Bmw R1250R before the Roctane. Hell of a bike
Good video :)

Quite a great lineup! Thanks for the kind words.
There’s nothing like an R18 though!

Thanks for your honest opinion! RIDE ON...😎

Nice ultimate riding machine

Nice review mate, thanks.
Dreambike
I test rode one of these and Rock mode is ridiculous. Also I'm not sure where they hide the weight but this thing feels like a 600 pound bike
Just another u tuber who doesn't know what he is talking about. Well capable of touring and not heavy/cumbersome for a daily use.
I love the key fob of this bike, is it a push start button?
Yes!
Date and time??? Does the bike seriously go that fast?
I remember you loved the R18 bagger. That evaluation still stand?

"Ape hangers" isn't PC? Dude. Review spoiled by unnecessary virtue signaling.
Ridiculous bike and ridiculous name 😂
Why wouldnt "ape hangers" be politically correct? Can you elaborate?
Are you going to answer me, or what?
