An excellent and thorough review of a motorcycle that has intrigued me since it's launch. Much of it photographed from my favourite bike ride venue of Newlands Corner. 👍
I would love to see a scaled down version. R10, 1000cc, still pushrods and 4 valves, and same gorgeous look. Due to the shorter stroke, it could rev around 20% higher, ending in around 60 hp, with same engine characteristics. That bike would weight less (south of 250 kg?) and be more maneuverable.
Nothing is sexier than a highly skilled lady that can ride a big heavy bike easily. The shiny leather pants are the icing on that CAKE! The bike is nice looking also.
The princess and the pea... that kinda bikes are supposed to be slowed down with the back break mainly since you can't get weight on the front, maybe? :))
Excellent detailed review of the R18, thanks. Only clicked on it because you had to be the same Wren I saw on Username Kate's recent Belgium jaunt, right? Subscribed
I think you're getting muddled between cruisers and tourers. Cruisers, you cruise round town and to the coffee shop. If you want to do distances you need a tourer. The R18 bagger and transcontinental have fairings and if you want to ride distance you would want one of those.
I really like the styling and quality but it's a hefty beast at 345kg. A smaller version would go down well. For comparison, I own a 1974 R90S which has 67bhp but only weighs 215kg with 24 litres of fuel. A modern retro R90S would be nice, not that awful R Nine T thing they produce.
colour matched nails nice ;;; as for the bike --- just buy the harley which this bike is trying to copy - and do without the the horrid cylinders getting in the way ;;

Are your nails part of the 719 option? Great review, I agree with your thoughts. Cheers Alex
Stunning motorcycle 🙂👍🇬🇧🏍
Wren speaks, and I listen
So long as you don't start saying "Broke" as well....

Powerful bike. Test rode one and almost lost the handlbars

horrible whirring sound from that engine and a fugly ride to boot. The presenter is the best thing about the video
The old R's, R27 for instance, were extremely useful besides the cool, this R18 is just all show, unnecessarily huge.
Great review. Never got the R18 - don’t think the boxer engine suits a cruiser at all. Plus the styling is pretty marmite as well. 🤷♀️

The shape of the fork shrouds is derived from the prewar BMW first generation of telescopic forks...look at WW2 German military BMWs
Just beautiful! ❤
Form over Function...
The 1998 Honda Valkyrie is a better bike..
Silky smooth Engine with NO Torque reaction when the Throttle is Blipped.

Is there a GS Adventure Rally Gigant Elifant Adventure Mondo version in the werks?

Too bad it’s so different from the prototype which was deadly cool
The wheels do not match the Classic look.... they look like old Honda rims.....Spokes !
a cruiser is not a long haul bike ;; it is a local use bike ;
Wauuuu
Lovely beemer.
Big,heavy but beautiful.
