I raced an ostrich in the etosha pan in Namibia. The ostrich managed 100 kmp. The unimog could climb up a sandy hill will a ton of stuff in the back. It's a monster. The ground clearance is the world's best
A rigid chassis?? No! It has the most flexible chassis ever designed! That's why pods and flat-beds etc, mounted behind the cab, use a 3-point mounting system rather than four, so that they do not restrict the chassis twist. :) (the proud owner and operator of a 406, 416 and 419)
Unimogs are a very good truck. I had the privilege to drive one with a company I used to work for. I was amazed at the ability to go through mud. The only downfall of it was you had to go up and down a hill don't cross a muddy hill. The narrow design made it unstable crossing a hill. If you get one stuck you better have a large truck to pull you out.
Unimogs are amazing off-road vehicles, and we appreciate your firsthand experience! The narrow design can make them a bit challenging on steep, muddy hills, but they're still impressive. Thanks for sharing your experience with us! 🚚💪
i'm not surprised by the origins of the name because Jeep means : G.P. for general purpose and a Jeep (a willis for sure) is a versatile vehicle, robust and reliable like the Unimog, like the Land Rover (the old one). These vehicles are known to be the best in their use and the Unimog is absolutely amazing
@@gregkollaeg2365 some are not bad and there are many of these cars so obviously there are more that can break down (and i think there's worse cars for example some say that Ladas are horribly unreliable and some say that Ladas are undestructibles; It's the same for the olds Land Rover and these old cars can be fixed with the help of a hammer and a screwdriver)
The only critique I have of the video is that the UNImog is a 4WD vehicle, *NOT* an AWD truck. It had a transfer case, which is the very thing that differentiates an AWD vehicle from a 4WD one.
The same car trailer system with lowering mexhanism existed as a semitrailer based on 608 mercedes. One that I know was still operating for towing in the 90s in Germany.
I know I’m a sad 62 yr old but if I won the lotto I’d buy a slightly longer wheelbase version so the 3 inches of snow that shuts everything down in Scotland wouldn’t pose any issues for me
@@valentinvalentino5339Why? When the USA was so advanced why was there a need for e.g. "Operation Paperclip", "Project Paperclip", "Operation Overcast" and "Project Safehaven?

Nice video, good content.
Good one, ty
Best 4x4 ever! You can take a mog anywhere!
Except to Germany 😂
UNIMOGS are tractors themselves. The best ones. ❤

Thank you for your comment! I completely agree, Jeeps, Unimogs, and Land Rovers are amazing vehicles. 🚙👍

WOW @2:45 Love that Bus on the left..
Beautiful Bus with alpine windows ❤
Yeah , the UNIMOG was an Instant classic . A truly remarkable vehicle . The C-130 of Trucks I guess . Big Brother Zetros is a Brute .
Шикарный агрегат! Для тех, кто понимает. По мне, так круче бентли с ролсройсами понтовыми

Dommage que les sous titres ne soit pas en français ...
Mais très beau sujet !
Let's hope to improve that in the future! 😉
You know you made a good vehicle when you have comments from all over the world
Try saying "Universal Motorengerät" three times fast... 😁😁
НЕМЦЫ ВСЕГДА СЛАВИЛИСЬ КАЧЕСТВЕННЫМ ТОВАРОМ, А ИХ АВТОМОБИЛИ - ЭТО ПРОСТО ФАНТАСТИКА!
They set a record for altitude you say? And what about that 90-series Prado and the Hiluxes?

この小さな最初期のウニモグが欲しい。
That front bumper looks like it’s sticking out 12 inches forward
From a technological and engineering point of view, Germany won the war
Japanese manufacturing would say wtf😊
From a technological and engineering point of view, the war was won by the Americans and the American Air Force.
Thank the Germans for the helicopters@@valentinvalentino5339
Bullshit. Even the concept of the helicopter was invented by the Germany@@valentinvalentino5339

Unimog is not Merzedes Benz
technology
UNIMOG (universal motor gerät)
Was taken over of
MERZEDES BENZ
Id take an old school mog any day over a sissy g wagen or any modern 4x4.. overpriced pavement princesses do not compare to pure mechanical simplicity
I second that motion!!! 🤠👍🇩🇪
...so...
Never beat russian Kamaz on rally races 😉
SI- LD 10 First Dakar Winner Mog.
Because Russian rust buckets break down on the way to the races.
