@@vinnierollaOn 7k they use hydraulic lifters and don't use adjustable rocker arms...because with Hydraulic lifters they are not needed. Personally I would run Solid lifters and adjustable Rocker Arms. These won't limit your Redline as much due to Pump Up and Valve Float.
My 95 7K engine used solid lifters and had valve clearance adjustment on the rocker arms. But in late 96 they updated it with hydraulic lifters, so it no longer requires manual valve clearance adjustment.
I'm planning to swap my dad's 7k into a ke70, and watching your series of rebuilding this engine is gonna help a ton! Thanks Vinnie! Fuckin awesome content
Any updates? Really enjoyed the video! Answering alot of questions I'll face when doing the 7k turbo in my friends starlet. Would really love to see it running!
Hey mate, might wanna look into the differences between solid and hydraulic lifters. Solids have the adjusters on the rocker arms, hydraulic doesn't. 3k and 4k are solid, 5k and 7k are hydraulic. Did this not come up when getting your cam ground? Hoping they're just stock 7k lifters that you used?
Thanks for your comment Simon. Yeah they’re stock lifters. I mention to the Clive cams they were stock lifters. They never mentioned anything about solid lifters Do you think I’ll have an issues with the hydraulic lifters and the cam? Also I’m massive fan of your KE55 build over the years on Rollaclub forums
@@vinnierolla Clive probably just ground you a hydro cam if you told them everything else was stock. There's a difference between solid and hydro cams... although I don't know what it is. I've always used a solid cam setup. Thanks for kind words. I actually spent some of the weekend stripping my 5k down for a rebuild. I managed to melt a position last year with too high inlet air temps on 25psi 😏
i had toyota kijang 1996 with 7k engine from factory.. your build video so inspiring.. my 7k engine still use breaker point for ignition..
