Thanks for the tips! BTW, the reason the code entry didn't work the first few times is that the beep sound happens at the end of entering 5 digits. It means right after the beep sound you have to start entering the code from the first digit otherwise it would be out of sync.

This may be the reason why your code didnt work initially: If you watch the video, you'll initially see a small "1" next to the word "COdE" and that number changes each time you press a digit. So there was already a digit (or several) entered, and I think the radio stores them even with the key off. If you would have simply started the correct code over after it had beeped at you, I think it would have worked correctly without having to reset by disconnecting the battery again.

If you open your glove box and check the side of it when open, it may have your radio code printed on a strip that's "taped" onto the side of the glove box. enter those numbers and save the hassle of figuring out your serial number and contacting the dealership. I have a 2003 Honda Accord Ex and it saved me some time after swapping out my battery.
I own two Hondas. There is an easier way. My 2009 CRV has the radio code on a sticker on the side of the glove box. My 2015 Civic has the radio code on a sticker on the back of the glove box. If you dont see the sticker, squeeze the sides of the glove box and drop it down and check the back side of the glove box.
There's also much simpler way to do it. It works for most Honda radios. 1. Turn on your car. 2. Press and hold the "Tune select" button for at least 5 seconds. That's it, no need to enter the code. Radio would be back to normal. I did it on my 2014 Honda Pilot and it works fine. Background info: When the "Tune select" button was pressed and hold for about 5 seconds or longer, the radio sent a token/signal (we called it a handshake in techie world) to a receiving chip that checks if the radio was in the same vehicle or not. If the radio was in the same vehicle (not stolen and not installed in a different vehicle), the chip allowed the radio to function normally. The token was pre-programmed at the factory to the receiving chip with the code generated by the radio. Of course, if the radio was on a different vechicle it wouldn't work because the chip on the other vehcile had a different token programmed to the chip. It would get a mismatch, therefore it wouldn't allow the radio to continue operate normally.
The reason why you couldn't get it, was because you had entered a digit and it was expecting the rest of them. Unfortunately there's no reset button so you have to enter digits until it says "Error" then that's when you're able to start inputting the correct digits from the start. Thus activating your radio again. I literally just did it myself.

Check your glove box for a sticker with the code. My 2009 CRV has one on the side of the box and my 2015 Civic has the code on the back of the glove box. You may have to squeeze the sides of the glove box to drop it down to find the sticker.

The problem you had with entering the code is that when you hold the 1 and the 6 down it enters 1 as if you're punching the number one in, so you need to enter a bunch of other numbers until it give you an error and resets so you can enter the number in again fresh

All I would add is that I found my 5 digit radio code on a small white tag located on my driver's door pillar post, so I didn't have to retrieve the radio serial # or call the dealer like you did. This other guys video showed me what the tag looks like and where to find it on a Honda Civic, but in my case, I own an '05 Honda Accord EX so it was in a different location, but it still worked for me. You can go online and retrieve your code also... just search for Honda Radio Code and you will find the site from Honda. This method of retrieving your code also requires the VIN, which is located inside the driver's door.

BUT comes to find out no matter how many times I put code in it won't come ON! Think the mechanic did something weird? I have a Acura TSX 06 w/ navigation and don’t have the radio code. I got the code from finding the serial number on the cd changer in the trunk. I put that serial number in the Acura website and got 2 rolls of numbers and assume one was for the navigation and the other for the radio. I also manage to call a dealership that checked over the phone and have me the same codes, but later learned the codes I got was only for the navigation. So, I had to wait 2 months until I could save money to fix my alternator, so I waited until last week to try those codes. The navigation started when I put the first 5 numbers. Then I tried with the radio and I couldn’t figure out how to put the b letter that was in the place of the last number (5th.). I tried about 3-4 times and it didn’t work and I put 1-6 in place of the letter b and now locked out. I can’t even do the press button 1 and 6 and the power button and locked out from putting in the code. I called the Acura support number and got a person and they told me that I still needed the radio code and different from the navigation code. I wasn’t in the car and tried the press 1 and 6 and radio power button to get the serial number and get the code. Well, since it didn’t work, I’m gonna call them back and get them to walk me through it. I also think I might need to disconnect the battery and reconnect to see if it’ll let me get the code and let me put in the code. The Acura support did mention that if I was locked out from putting the code, i need to wait something like an hour or 24 hours, but that didn’t work the next day. This is a pain in the butt and all this to get a radio code? And these pro Acura Honda folks are no real help. They should get more training and narrow down the possibilities. Meaning the first dealership person should of told me that you only have the navigation code and still need the radio code. Bc she didn’t, it cost me a lot of frustration and waste of time.
People if you need to find the radio code for your radio before call the dealer or going to internet. Here is the secret check in the passenger side front compartment open and check in the left side outside the door there is a little sticker with the serial number for the radio and also you will see another 5 numbers that is the code for the radio. them turn the switch just to turn on the radio then enter the code using the numbers that are in the face of the radio the number are 123 on top and 456 at the bottom. If your car show only the serial number in the sticker then you will need to call the dealer but mine has the serial and code I believe your car will show the code too.

luckily my parents just left the radio numbers inside the dashboard. btw if it beeps to say error, dont turn it off. even if it says error the message disappears anyways after pressing a number
