Interestingly TFL did a roller test with a Grand Highlander Max and the host was raving about how well it did. Powered off with just one wheel on any corner. Wonder what the issue was here or is it on an incline?
This guy has the body type that I like for in car seat space testing. He looks more like the people I drive around instead of these rail thin RUclipsrs gesturing with their hands about copious head & knee room.
Very interesting and disappointing roller test. It confirms my concerns when considering the RX 500h which has exactly the same drivetrain as this TX 500h. I too live in snowy Canada and I don't want an AWD vehicle that will sit there and spin the front wheels, even for a couple of seconds, if I am trying to get going quickly. I have noticed in every RX 500h video, and this one, that acceleration tests always start with the front wheels spinning. Not what you would expect in an "AWD". Thanks for doing this.
Majority of my vehicles in the last 4 decades have been Toyotas (drive one now), but I don't understand their latest offerings. Very expensive, underwhelming in practicality, and just so-so mpg considering the liability of all the extra technology to achieve it.
This TX front end design is not great but not hideous. The outlook of current Toyota and Lexus cars (say since 2015) usually lasted longer without aging feeling but not eye-catching when debuting at the very beginning. However, the interior materials used are not up to the expectation in its pricw range. If not Lexus, believe nobody does spend this amount of money to buy it.
I’m not sure why Toyota has been shortening the distance between it and Lexus lately. Didn’t work great for other manufacturers 20 years ago, why would it work now?
Putting core functions in the HUD is utterly idiotic - as a tall guy, I can’t even see the freaking heads up display! So how the hell am I suppose to know what I’m selecting?! Lexus, use your head. Move the HUD or make it redundant in the center screen.
So the second row does not fold flat in this model. What about in the regular 2.4 T, with no batteries? Does the second row fold flat to create enough space for an adult to sleep in it on long excursions?
Flipping the DRLs around is the worst thing they could've done to them. The NX, RX and LX DRLs look sleek and elegant. The TX DRLs look overly aggressive, completely unbecoming of a luxury car. In my opinion the best Lexus designs were the ones before the big grill.
Whats happening to Lexus? Design and quality getting worse and worse. Doesnt feel like driving a lexus anymore. I think its below average now. Cars are breaking down. They need to stop making Lexus cars from other countries and just stick with Japan.
All the electronic crap and they still can't make an AWD system that actually works...another Toyota Fail...they've been doing great and building trash in the past decade and a half. People are dumb enough to keep overpaying for this junk they deserve just that junk vehicles with failure prone electronics and drive systems.
3wd is what they`re trying to sell at that price..no thanks. as for luxury, leather seats are on every car options list, so that`s nothing luxurious. as for looks...its looks like a new pathfinder mixed with kia.
Just think, I was going to buy one of these. Getting through the snow, is the most important thing for me! Guess I’m bumping up to the GX Trail.
The front end looks sick, like out of a dystopian movie.
It’s basically a Mini Van body. But I have to admit. It looks better in person.
I like the roller test. Would be nice to have a power train break down of the mechanical vs computer control to front/rear wheels.
The looks are ok, kind of inoffensive, I feel like Toyota / Lexus grill is getting better
Absolutely
This update of the Lexus so-called "spindle grill" is definitely an improvement.
Stephen, I will never understand why so many people leave rollers scattered around their driveways in the first place . 😉🤣🤣
Haha and they look like the package rollers from a shipping company

You guys do great work! Do you have a Honda Pilot LE vs Subaru Ascent and/or VW Atlas Review you can share with us?
Happy Mother's Day To The Mom's Out There

Lol good for you, but it is possible he takes offense to that
rear legroom is nice
Since you were using the TX500h with direct drive, I would be curious if the TX 350 with AWD would fare better.

Excellent episode as always!!! 😁
All that power. All that tech. And it still has less payload than my fj, and the same towing capacity.
Different colours make it look better
The roller test wasnt particularly impressive, but these types of systems should still be just perfect for most people's uses.
6:10, what a baby boy sitting in the third row 😌
Will turning off traction control help ?

Feels more like a Toyota than a Lexus
Base corrola : hold my chopsticks
Looks like a toyota too, wtf are they thinking with these new designs
Looks like a cylon from battle star gallactica
Lexus should have put in the sweeping red mono-eye lighting and we'd have a 100 pt match.

For those AWD japanese are just potato chips , my RX sport AWD 2019 didn't work well on snow time i went to 10k ft on January season , so bad.
not quiet.... 4runners have proper awd/4wd and they are beasts off-road. this is not a true awd either, toyota adds a small motor to the rear axle.
Look like a minivan, luxury sienna
With a couple of sliders on the side it would be just that.
Awesome 👌.
Wait so 1000lbs is for everything inside the car? That’s only like 3.5 Americans.

Acuea ShAwd - hold my chopsticks
Imagine paying luxury car prices for a Toyota. That’s essentially all Lexus is with the exception being the ancient cars in the IS, LC, and LS
They should have kept the spondle grill. Apart from yhe minivan look and no bench seat. Car is dope.
The TX is quite mediocre, including it's budget basement AWD system.
Front is ugly with the primer gray colour. Tundra designer must of did this grill design too.
Lol, I can't get over how bad the Tundra front end looks
This is a lifted sienna
Surprise Surprise
New Toyota models are a fail. I d go with the MDX with SH-AWD
How have they gotten so ugly? Maybe in black it would look better.
It's not for off road
Spend $80k & you get a CRAP awd SUV with 6 seats🤭🤭🤭🤭🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
Someone needs to tell toyota all this new design language is completely ugly..and they need to go back to the drawing board

@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 100% agree
I think it's styled pretty decently. Not great, but I dont think I find any three row great in that regard.
Love the design. Sleek. 4WD is disappointing
@@ALMX5DP Grand Highlander is better, Highlander is better, GLS is better (before the facelift where they needlessly made the grill humonguos).
Everyone knows Toyota’s hybrid-AWD system sucks…
Similarly to Grand highlander, not very impressive look. Look like low end Lexus
It is 8-speed, not 6.
350 is 8 speed, 500h is 6 speed
And the 550h+ has an eCVT
Complete failure of a SUV
There are Truck that cost more I don't thank the rollers work like mud & snow.

Overpriced Grand highlander
4WD 😢 Disappointing
My 2012 AWD Taurus engages instantaneously
Have you put it on the rollers
This type of AWD is crap. The system needs a drive shaft.
Call it what you want it’s still a Toyota
Not really, it’s an ugly design
