  • In today's video, I wanted to take the opportunity to do some self-reflection and create a mid-year review spread in my bullet journal. Feel free to make your own version of this spread and tag me on Instagram so I can see: / elizabethturn
Here are the questions/prompts from the video in order:
    1. Wins:
    What were your achievements?
What goals have you been making progress on?
    What are you grateful for?
    What have you done well?
    What are you proud of?
    2. Growth:
    What have you learned?
    How has your life evolved?
    How have you changed?
What hard lessons and realizations have you had?
In what ways have you grown and where have you noticed opportunities for future change?
    3. Release:
What are you ready to let go of?
What in your life is not serving you?
    What isn't working?
    4. Intention:
Where do you want to direct your energy and focus for the end of 2020?
What are your priorities for the rest of the year?
Do you have any upcoming goals?
Is there a specific word, mantra, or feeling that you want to evoke for the rest of 2020?

My win: I took care of my aunt in her death process this year. I didn’t think I could do that once upon a time. We had a beautiful process together. I miss her.

Because of how upsetting this year has turned out I've completely forgotten some of my wins, like moving out of home. This year was supposed to be my year of growth and this reminded me that the year is not over yet 😊💕

Same. There were so many good things that did happen to me during this year and with everything going on, I was not able to celebrate properly. Hoping the both of us will do better at remembering our wins going forward.

So last week I finally launched my etsy store, it's something I have basically been wanting to do my whole life so I'm really proud of myself! For me, doing that made me think of how I'm always afraid of doing things and how anxiety holds me back a lot. So, today I started reading a book called "feel the fear and do it anyway". I've heard about this book in the past, and just the title alone helped me a lot. Whenever I felt anxious over something and was scared to do something, I kept thinking "feel the fear and to it anyway" as a way to just accept that I'm afraid, but not let it hold me back. After opening my shop I just felt like I owed it to the book to actually go ahead and read it. I hope it'll give me more insight and more tools to handle my anxiety more.

Thank you! This is simple and straightforward. Those question are well chosen and every of my chaotic topics finds a place in there. It's not just a repetition of my typical journal and goal setup, but goes way deeper. I want to thank you so much!

One of my wins has been discovering bullet journaling and these videos! I have been struggling for years trying to find something that spoke to both sides of my brain and allowed me to finally use all the stationary and art supplies I kept collecting ( in the sure belief that I would be using them for something, someday!) and the minute I saw a basic class on Skill Share ( which I had just joined before even knowing about Elizabeth…kismet!) and deciding to look it up on RUclips, and the first video I clicked on was Elizabeth’s, what can I say…pretty good win. As for releasing, I have decided to let go of all my news feeds, which have been really keeping me in a state of high agitation and depression. I can get the basic news from my local paper, but I really need to turn my head in a direction that brings me joy and feeds my soul. I do and give what and were I can to contribute to the causes that matter to me. But I just had to face the fact that looking throughout history, humankind has always been on a wild and crazy ride and my obsession over every single dingle issue of pain, suffering, fighting and strife was only giving me high blood pressure and a deep sense of hopelessness. I decided to choose my health over the world’s chaos.

I would love to try doing a mid year review in a year of my life which hasnt been completely wasted :)
Edit: well I tried it anyway. Turns out I have accomplished a little more than I thought this year, and I've had to try growing more mature as a person as I go into my adult life. It's been hard, letting go of my childhood. But I suppose the memories are still there

I love watching your videos for the art, but I’m not personally artistic like you are. This spread is so simple, pretty, and approachable for anyone, but most importantly it’s a really excellent reflection. Thanks for all your vids and the work you put into them ... but especially thanks for this one! 💖

Thank you for this! It’s just what I needed. I wanted to put some extra time in quarantine to better myself. Although there have been rises and falls I have settled some debt, learned to knit, started exercising more, successfully started a previously inaccessible medical treatment, and reapplied for school after my medical leave in early 2019. I had been super down lately thinking I was making no progress and falling backwards, but that’s simply not the case! I really appreciate this moment of self reflection, and I will absolutely do a spread for this.

Hi! I have lived a type of NDE (Near Death Experience). I did not go through a life review as it was not ment to be part of the experience at that time ... but I am very much aware of that process at some point when we transition... This video struck me as how we can decide to do so, in some way, in our life, from time to time... Of course it is not the full scale experience as the big ones we go through when we transition ... but with Compassion and practice, we may get closer to it on this earth, even without dying! Thank you for sharing your Inspiration! :)

I always forget to do a review throughout the year. I do daily gratitude, but that is mainly little things like “I tidied my work space, now it is clean, ready for a new day” so I think trying to come up with answers in my mid year review would be useful. Thanks for sharing!

I love how simple to set up this spread is.
I always find these thought exercises scary. It's hard to truly reflect. It implies that change will have to be executed next. That's really hard to do.

What are the benefits/ reasons you use the gel pen before painting over it? Does it change the opacity or color quality?

    • @PlantBasedBride
      @PlantBasedBride  4 года назад +1

I have more precision with a pen so it helps to map it out, I also find it gives a more opaque look without having to use so much paint ❤️

As a music teacher, these past few months have been rough for me and looking ahead has brought me nothing but anxiety. (especially recently, because I live in TX) Your video really helped me take a step back and take stock of my personal needs for the rest of the year and remember how far I've come in the last few months! Setting my intentions for the next six months really helped me get excited for an incredibly different and challenging beginning of the school year. Thank you so much for this video!!!!

My win: I haven’t acted on my bulimic tendencies since last December. I haven’t gone this long without forcing myself to throw up for almost a decade now. It might seem like nothing to some people, but there was a long period of my life where I couldn’t imagine myself overcoming bulimia.

I'm gonna try this for this year! This year was so much harder for me compared to last year maybe because i just started my degree and was very very disappointed i couldn't go study at my dream university and having to study at home with family pressure and all. I didn't know how to write my mid year review in my bullet journal so I'm gonna try this spread! There's not much videos on this topic sadly :(

@@PlantBasedBride 👍 will take a look. I'm INFP so I often relate to what you're saying. The difference being that I'm have an unorganised, chaotic, in the clouds kind of brain who would really benefit from bullet journalling from a productivity point of view but I just can't do routine or planning 😫
