- Hello my lovely viewers, Yvonne here from Style it Forward. In many of my videos, I talk about wearability and easy dressing, so I wanted to look for spring/summer dresses that evoke a modern minimalistic look. I have had a look at Marks and Spencer and selected 5 amazing dresses to share with you, that are chic, simple and evoke that minimalistic, modern approach to design. I hope you enjoy the video. I love the mocha, onyx and navy dresses best. They follow the five art principles laid down by the dress doctors in the 20th century ( read The Lost Art of Dress by Linda Przybyszewski 2014 - yes, the spelling of her name is correct, but I can't pronounce it!). These three dresses looked so good on you, Yvonne. One thing I would like to know, and something I always look for, is a seam down the centre back of the skirt. I find that it gives you a little more fabric and looks better from a side view. Thank you once again for bringing us these great looks from Marks.

Hi Yvonne they all suit you! Love how you team the shirt dresses with trousers in the mashup. My favourite are the onyx and navy dresses. Not in stock in either colour in my size but will hopefully receive notifications when available. Once again many thanks....

I love simple, unfussy dresses ( I'm very short and can look like an escapee from a 5 year old's birthday party if I'm not careful!) and you have found some beautiful ones here. I really like the shirt dresses as a duster over trousers and the twist front dress is gorgeous in both colours 😍

Good afternoon Yvonne and thank you for another lovely vlog. All the dresses you showed and described so well would make excellent additions to a wardrobe. They are versatile, as demonstrated in your mash up and would suit different age ranges. Like you, I love dresses with pockets and have a couple in my existing wardrobe. Lovely dresses. I always think the clothes look better in real life than they do in the photos. i often find that with M&S. Photos don't do the clothes justice. Great video Thank You.

Another beautiful video Yvonne. I do like to wear some “ flowery “ dresses in summer as I always keep to the neutrals throughout the rest of the year but these dresses, and the way you demonstrated how they can be adapted for both a simple, elegant look for both day and evening , is stunning and I will certainly be buying at least one for my wardrobe this year. I liked all the dresses Yvonne, particularly the onyx one. I just wish it had sleeves. I don't like showing my arms. All the dresses were 'my colours' being an autumn. May have to have a look. Such reasonable prices as well.❤

Another fantastic informative video Yvonne I especially love the dress in navy and the green colour on you? Ps I bought the square toed ballet shoes in black and the cotton midi skirt also in black that you featured a few weeks ago and I love them both thank you for sharing them because it’s the first skirt I’ve bought probably since I was a teenager in the 80’s and I think it’s looks really good? Due to a change in lifestyle don't wear dresses that often now and lean more towards two piece outfits (top and bottom coordinate) that when paired, gives the illusion of a dress and/or offers the option of several ways to wear, that extends my wardrobe. That being said though; love what you've shown today with favourites being the linen shirtdress with trim detail and the twist front dress. (The latter for my slender body type I might nip the under arm seam lines for a closer fit and perhaps add light removable shoulder pads to modernize it even more.) Looking forward every Sunday to seeing your videos which I often share on my Pinterest Board.

Fabulous dresses I loved them all. My favourite is the sleeveless but the armholes are quite low and I wondered if there was any ‘bra show’ ?
Hi Fran, so lovely of you thank you. The sleeveless dress does have a wider armhole as part of the design which is a sort of 'drop shoulder' which makes it wider. But honestly, it's stunning. The bodice detail is so figure framing and I didn't notice any show. It's a total gem. Totally appreciate such lovely feedback, and very much appreciated. Yxx
I loved the Onyx and Navy dresses (although the armholes seem to be rather large), the others were a little dowdy looking in my opinion but then I do live in Portugal! 🌞🌊
They are so lovely Mary. The armholes are different in the way they are cut. The shoulder is slightly dropped and just gives a 'slouchy' kind of look. Just adds to the design. Totally appreciate your lovely feedback. Yxx

Out of stock online for both dresses which caught my eye (the chocolate and navy). Though you only posted 14 hrs ago.
Pop a 'notify me' notification with your size and they will come back to you, but do act quickly when they get in touch. They are new in and so I would expect more stock. Fingers crossed for you, because they are so lovely. Yxx

I love all of the dresses but I don't like the length. I'm only 5 '2" and size 8 and look swamped in these longer lengths. If you have any influence with M & S please could you ask them to consider replicating these pieces in a knee length version.
Oh I so totally understand. Sometimes in 'new pieces' I have seen, they release a limited range initially, and so they may release more. I am only 2 (and a bit) inches taller than you, size 8 or 6 depending on the style, and so that may give you perspective. Honestly, they are worth a try, but don't discount a bit of tailoring. I’m sorry but I don’t have your enthusiasm for these dresses. The colours are generally bland and styles with all the tied waists not generally flattering unless you are a size 6! You look great in the trousers and blouse at the start.
