Ten Mills Tel Aviv on a strong Yarkon flow עשר טחנות תל אביב בזרימת ירקון עוצמתית

The "Ten Mills" or "Al-Hadar Mill" is an archaeological-historical site located on the Yarkon River on the outskirts of Tel Aviv. During the Roman period, a flour mill with multiple millstones operated here, powered by the flow of the Yarkon River. In the 19th century, the milling activity was revived thanks to two wealthy Arab families, the Baidas and the Amoriah.
The mill compund included a bridge called Jisr al-Hadar, which served as the only crossing point over the Yarkon River for centuries. Notable figures who crossed this bridge include Napoleon's army in 1799 and the royal entourage of Emperor Wilhelm II in 1898. During World War I, the Ottoman forces destroyed the bridge and the mills.
Only in the 2000s were the mills rediscovered and partially restored.
This footage was taken on January 14th, 2024, following a significant amount of rain on the drainage basin of the Yarkon river.
אתר "עשר טחנות" או "טחנת אלהדאר" הוא אתר ארכיאולוגי-היסטורי מפעים על נחל הירקון בפאתי תל אביב. כבר בתקופה הרומית שכנה בו טחנת קמח מרובת אבני רחיים, שהופעלה בכוח זרימת מי נחל הירקון. במאה ה-19 התחדשה פעילות הטחנה בזכות שתי משפחות ערביות עתירות ממון - בידס ועמוריה. שם המקום התקבע בתקופה בה פעלו במקום עשר מערכות טחינה.
חלק ממבנה הטחנות כלל גשר, ג'סר אל הדאר, שבמשך מאות שנים היה הגשר היחיד שאפשר חציית נחל הירקון. על הגשר עברו בין השאר צבא נפוליאון ב-1799 והפמליה המלכותית של הקיסר וילהלם השני ב-1898. במהלך קרבות מלחמת העולם הראשונה בין העות'מנים לבריטים, פוצצו התורכים את הגשר ואת הטחנות.
רק בשנות האלפיים נחשפו הטחנות מחדש ועברו שיקום חלקי.
הוידאו צולם ב-14 בינואר 2024, אחרי כמות יפה של גשם שירדה באגן הניקוז של הירקון והביאה לזרימה חזקה בנחל.
