Big Air Kite Test 9 - Eleveight Rs+ v2 (How good is it for Big Air?)

- In my latest review, I get to have a play on the first crossover/freeride style kite I've flown in at least a couple of years, at least that isn't one of my Evo Dlab's mind you.
This demo kite was supplied by Mac once again, so check it out right here:
www.mackiteboarding.com/2025-...
I definitely enjoyed riding this kite, but I could certainly use a bit more time on some of its contemporaries in the market to feel like I better understood all of its pros and cons, because my Boosting and Looping focused reviews probably don't do it justice.
I filmed as always on my @GoPro in 4k Superview Спорт
The new core's kite would be nice have a review from you!! Nice video!!
I have gotten in touch with Core but no luck so far unfortunately, we don’t have a shop in New Zealand so it’s a tricky one unfortunately.
Settle up Core distribution 😅
@@s3kman I did review the xr7’s I own in my first video… have not been able to fly any of their kites since unfortunately. They’re really expensive for us in NZ as well to order from overseas
A review of the 2024/25 North Reach for comparison as a do-it-all kite? - Keep up the great work!!
Will do
Can’t wait for the board comparison video!
Almost there
Thanks for another great video! I’d love to see the MotoX Apex at some point, but it might be worth waiting for the updated model at this point!
@@camdynkellett6782 got my eye out for that one 🤘
@@jasonofmontreal hehe 😜
Love your reviews! Would be super cool to hear your Review on the New Core Pace
Me too on that one 😂
Nice! My main kite is the regular RS 14, those are quite nice kites, especially if you can get them at a good price!
@@simonclarent3742 a good price always seems to makes your kite a lot more desirable 😂
Jason, what would be so cool is to have a throwback series. Like somewhere in the 2014-2019 pre orbit area with kota kites and really compare them big air wise to these days kites. Prolly hard to organize but hella fun!
I have thought about this idea, but I came to this conclusion… how hard would I want to send 4-5 year old kites? Would they even be safe in 30 knots… as a hobbiest doing this for fun, I don’t want to risk finding out 😂
@@jasonofmontreal haha I understand!
@@jasonofmontrealI regularly send my Evo from 2016. loops great 👍🏼
I'm sure there's an old Switch Nitro you could compare to see if it stands the test of time.
@@mathesotto2987 but you also know where it’s been, how many repairs etc… testing kites I acquired from other people just sounds nerve wracking to me 😂
Accurate review
This is not a big air kite but awesome RS to progress. The difference with the Dacron RS is noticeable mostly on the High End and strong gusty wind. And overall offers less hang time.
On low end it’s a good surf/foil kite but not a best in any specialties.
Officially, the Dacron 7m RS is still the best 3 struts boosting kite with a WR of 35.8m high
Stijn must be an absolute wizard to have controlled a 7m in those winds 😂
Very very good review, as usual.
For your future review, could you make a table with some technical elements about the kite tested : size, weight, high or low V, number of bridal attachment point on the leading edge. Because those points are not always available on the brand website.
Keep going with your great work!
I only knew the weight of the kite because Mac had it on their page… most brands don’t seem to share it
@@jasonofmontreal And as mentioned by others, a review of the Hypermodel, Slinshot Code NXT, Cabrinha Moto Aluula (I don't remember the specific name), the core Pace and the Harlem Thrive.
Thank you for all your work and time dedicated.
@@Baptiste_L great list 🤘
Are you thinking of doing a review of an « ayto » of the « gong » brand? It would be very interesting to see if we can feel the price difference ! Some Models with new technologies such as the « double skin » will come out, I would be curious to have your opinion on these kite ! 👌
I contacted Gong to see if I could borrow any demo kites but they politely explained with their business model they can’t do that unfortunately. It’s part of how they can offer their kites so cheap so it’s understandable
@@jasonofmontreal okay thanks, its make sens. I ordered one of those, I Will compare it myself👌 thx for your video
Hey Jason. There is coming a new kite from Harlem soon there is called Thrive. It’s almost a duotone evo d/lab just with prowelding instead of aluula. Bdw it is ralf groesel there has designed both. So it could be nice if you compared to the evo dlab, but Also the new slingshot code NXT there also will come out soon and the Harlem force
@@manolander231 I have reviewed the Harlem Force already, have one of those kites hopefully coming soon as well, but I’ll be trying to get my hands on the other as well if possible
Another great review! What settings do you have on the GoPro?
@@alfredpalm1428 4K superview 120fps
Thanks for your reviews, love em! Any chance you can get your hands on a Slingshot Code?
Working on it! “J-Bo” certainly kills it on it
Hey, love your vids! I am choosing between a 10m Evo Dlab and a 2023 10m Orbit. Which one is the better for looping / progression? I understand that the Dlab has the better performance.
@@joacbrod Dlab has better overall performance(better low end, higher jumping, more hangtime, more versatile), but the orbit is half the price, probably a bit more durable, and is possibly a bit easier for building looping confidence and loop progression
@@jasonofmontreal thx for the reply, that sounds about right! Getting a high split bar does not make the Dlab cheaper... It smells a bit like I'll be getting the Orbit.
@@joacbrod I loved the 2023 10m orbit.
Yeeeeee!
Indeed
Hi Jason. Great videos!!! Not sure if I missed this or not, do you use WOO or Surfr? I’m torn between which app to adapt !!! I’ve got both but after some feedback back from your good self?? What’s your thoughts? I do get different readings. I wonder if that’s got to do with the position of the woo on the board versus Surfr on my wrist. Have I missed a review on these from you ? Cheers Chris
I use both for different things actually... overall I prefer Woo for the App itself, and community, which is the most fun part of it for me... but because surfr is more accurate I tend to use it for personal progression and filming now. They actually both measure about the same if you jump without "woosting"... but once you start sending the legs up things get can get a little generous with the woo basically. My suggestion would be to use what most of your friends do, because it's just not that fun to post sessions alone
hey Jason I really hope that you can test the new core pace pro and the new slingshot code v2/code NXT there will be out soon. I think it could be very interesting to see these kite reviews because I really think these kite will be the future big air kits. And compare it to the Harlem force and duotone evo D/lab. Looking forward to the board review🤙
I’m hoping to get hold of the slingshot when it comes out, but I’ve not had any luck with core so far unfortunately
If you can get your hands on a Naish Pivot Nvision and Naish Psycho Nvision that would be a great review as these can be compared with your other big air Alula kites but are also competing in the “one fits all” kite category (especially the 3-strud Pivot).
I’m certainly hoping to try them
Super nice review as always, how about the Dice SLS? Would be interesting, especially coming from you as a former Dice owner 😊
I’m also really curious how the modern ones feel!
@@jasonofmontreal sounds like a review is coming 🤗 was my first kite in 2014, just recently switched back to the 2022 Dice SLS after riding many other C shapes.. Pretty boosty for a 3 strut
Can you do a review on the new core pace pro kite that was just released.
I tried to contact core about borrowing a demo, but no reply as yet, we don’t have them in New Zealand so in their defence it’s a massive hurdle
Hey Jase, how about the Eleveight XS?
Going to try to get hold of one this season 🤘
What's the reason of 2 watches at around 5min mark?
Surfr and woo? Both give quite a big difference in jump height, what is your verdict?
At the time I recorded that clip I was still filming a comparison video on the subject, but the SpaceX guys released a video on it the very weekend I was finishing it up so it was somewhat redundant after that. Long story short, I actually really like both Apps, but for totally different reasons 😂
@@jasonofmontreal It would still be very interesting to see your opinion and review. SpaceX made a great comparison, but they are a part of Surfr team.. Also, a single point camera for height cannot be accurate.
@@petrasbagdonas6980 in my experience they record about the same unless you know how to trick one of them with a popular motion that adds on a few metres (like you pointed out in that clip).
Hey Jason it could be nice if you tested the new cabrinha moto X design work. And compare it to the ozone vortex
@@manolander231 coming soon!
@@jasonofmontreal 😍🫡
Jason does it keep it shape well with some harder wind and harder input? Asking as a heavy rider😂
I didn’t have any issues with it losing its shape, but I didn’t try it in over 30 knots I’m afraid
Hi ! I can confirm that it keeps its shape well. up to 40 knts with my 8m, even during big crashes I never had any deformation 👍
Sad to no see you uploading boards video :(
This one was a lot less work that I could get out on the side, boards hopefully next
Nvision Pivot, Reach, Hypermodel &HTF2, Nexus 4, Pace, Dice, Code
Big list 😬
Please review Sling Code Next
No slingshot in NZ so they’re tricky to get, hoping to try the new one coming out soon though
Please do the vantage vulture
I have tried the vantage before but found it quite challenging to get used to. Certainly has some power though
@@jasonofmontreal im considering to transfer from orbits to the vultures but idk if its a good kite
@@maximsabbe Riding level/style, conditions, and personal preferences always play the biggest factor... personally, I was riding an older Vulture so I don't know how the latest one compares, but compared to my orbits I just found it quite challenging to get used to and didn't feel super confident on it in the strong winds I was trying it in. It sure has power though so you'd likely jump higher than on your orbits, and you could certainly argue that if I had a lot more time on it I would have found it easier to use.
Wouldn’t change anything on your Big Air Scores, for Big Air this is the Scores I am looking for.
How about a completely new Section - Freeride Kite Test. Would be an opportunity for new Content but also a lot of non Big Air riding
Certainly the challenge with adding different kite styles is wasting too much good wind… it’s not over 30 knots here enough to not take advantage with kites you like to ride 😂
Maybe Evo and Reach?
Two certainly at the top of my list
Can you try the new crazy fly kite !!!!! They sey is pure lift !!!
I’ve never seen one in NZ before but I’ll try
good kite for wave riding, other way you need something else :)
My wave riding could certainly use some progression
can you do RRD big air obsession?
Unlikely I’m afraid, we don’t have RRD in New Zealand so might be a tough one to get hold of
That’s a pity, I like them a lot especially Y28-29 generations have improved massively and it would be nice to see an unbiased review
Sonic 4 review!!
How does it loop 😂
I think Evan Klijns been looping the 6m 😂. And he says that he can ride the 6m when people are on 9s.
@@mikhailgurtovoy6950 I’ve seen Hugo loop the 6… it looks terrifying 😂
@jasonofmontreal the idea of it terrifies me too haha. I just want to see someone do a superloop on them. That's the next frontier
I do not agree on this review on this kite.
Saying it is not a kite for BigAir.
Eleveight RS (not the + model) is the heighst jumped 3 strut kite on the woo Leader board.
Eleveight RS is a model you always fell were are when you do multi rotations with loops.
They Can take alot of Wind and have a huge Wind range. Maybe you should try Them a bit longer
I was reviewing the RS+, I've never flown the RS, and Eleveight markets it as a crossover kite, not a big air specialist. Everyone will have different experiences, and to say a Pro can do something on a kite does not really mean it is the perfect kite for most riders... I also had friends try this kite, who are of my level, but usually mostly ride big air kites like the orbit or edge and they liked it even less than me so I just reviewed it based on my experience. I'm sure more skilled riders can do a lot better on it of course.
