are you referring to an adjustable geometry nozzle?
if so , they're not needed in space indeed
they might be needed with this SCI FI technology , but our current space faring engines don't work like jets.

There is reverse thrust with your thrusters not engine blocks same with vectoring but those are seperate from engine designs
