  • May Day weekend is coming up, we have a Bank Holiday in the UK on Monday and some folk will be celebrating in a traditional way.
Here's a lovely film showing the traditional May Day celebrations at Elstow, near Bedford in 1940.
The May Queen is crowned and doves of peace are released. Then there is the usual maypole dancing by children and watched by fairly large crowds.

How wonderful and a mere 84 years ago, I wonder how many May Queens will be crowned this year in 2024?
