Nice review. Very attractive pens but probably more reasonable if priced in the 100-200$. I think the nice line variation from your pen results ironically from a poorly tuned nib. The nib lays down good ink on the downstroke but is dry to the point of almost skipping on the upstroke creating a fine line and mimicking what you might see from a flex nib.
Visconti pens are over-priced garbage. I say this because there is simply very little quality control done on them before leaving the factory. Getting a Visconti that writes out of the box is like winning the lottery; this is especially the case for Visconti pens with palladium nibs. I have sworn off the brand.

I had a Homo Sapiens fountain pen, worthless piece of shit, leaking, nib getting loose, poor ink capacity.
