I just wanted to say I love your channel and all your videos. You've turned a young adult with a minor interest of fountain pens into a small time collector thanks to your infectious passion and in-depth informative videos. I've now started my own collection and am excited for to see more videos from you guys! Keep up the good work.
+The Goulet Pen Company may i just say. all of you from this channel havebeen surprising me immensly on how much you interact with your audience. i love it
Thanks, that means a lot! Here at GPC, our purpose is to prove that business can be personal, so interacting with our audience and customers are a great way to do that. - Colin
I was considering the Van Gogh as my first Visconti FP( currently have vanishing point and Lamy 2000). I ended up getting Starry Nights as a ballpoint instead, since FP ink is a no-go at work. I guess I will have pick something else as my first Visconti FP. Great review though.
The new Rembrandt colors (coming next week) are really impressive: www.gouletpens.com/visconti-rembrandt/c/383 . Really like the look of the Dark Forest one. - Colin
I now have two Visconti pens--the Van Gogh Starry Night and a Rembrandt. Both were ordered in Fine nib. However, the Van Gogh almost writes like a Medium while the Rembrandt fine is a fine nib. Both write very smoothly. Anyone else in the same experience?
+junbug1029 Hi there! There should be a link to our site in the box, but you can find the Van Gogh pens by going here :) www.gouletpens.com/fountain-pens/c/12/?facetValueFilter=tenant~pen-model%3Avisconti-van-gogh
You did say that the barrel was not quite long enough for an international long cartridge. But is it possible to fit a spare short cartridge by inserting a short spare with its' narrow end facing the back of the barrel where in tappers down? If so you might have another selling point.
If I don't particularly like the style of the pen I got, could I return it for another version of the same pen? Say there isn't as much combination of colours in it to my liking, could I return for a more varied one?
We definitely do exchanges, but if it's been inked up, it'll have a 10% restocking fee. That said, we can't guarantee a certain color pattern on the Van Gogh. For something like the Arises pen, our stock may not have a pen that features a lot of blue for example. - Colin
I would lean towards the Talentum because of the gold nib. It makes for a smooth-writing and bouncy writing experience. Love the look of the Black Ops Talentum as well. - Colin
Is there an old version of this pen? I have one and there are slight differences with the ones you showed. For example, mine doesn't have a magnetic cap but one that screws, and the body is not faceted. I bought mine ten years ago, though!
No, it's called the Van Gogh as well. But after I asked on this channel, I did a little research on my own and the first edition of this pen seemed to have been a little different, like mine :)
The first generation Van Gogh had a smooth oval body, was slightly longer, a 14 k nib, and the old-style flat clip. It was issued in either '97 or '98. Material was a similar variegated resin although the models' being named after a painting was not a feature. It had a screw-on cap.
I have one Brian, but the one I bought does not have the name of the painting in the band. It just says Van Gogh on one side and Visconti Firenze on the other. It is the starry night model. Do you have any info why this is? Thanks.
Yes, we ship to most countries! You can read more about our international shipping policies & options on our FAQs page: www.gouletpens.com/faq?tabNo=1 - Colin
It's faceted which is surprisingly difficult to achieve and also the variegated resin is much nicer and is not as plain as the Rembrandt one. That's pretty much it, the rest are similar. I personally wouldn't pay this much for a steel pen, but the Van Gogh would be a much nicer present or gift for someone special. It looks amazing and if it's a gift for someone who isn't a pen addict, they wouldn't care about whether the nib is gold, but mostly the packaging and the aesthetics of the pen:
The LAMY 2000 has the hooded gold nib, so I think it writes a bit smoother. The Makrolon is also very durable but significantly more boring than the designs on the Van Gogh. Writing experience is great for a steel nib with the Visconti though and is way easier to clean out with it being cartridge/converter. - Colin
I'm nooot too sure I'd jump and compare one of these Van Goghs to a 3776. I can go out and buy a 3776 for $70 any day... and we both know the 3776 is a LOT of value at that price.
Yeah, Visconti discontinued it a few months back. Van Gogh model is kind of a revolving door of new versions, like 'Vincent's Chair' which is launching soon: www.gouletpens.com/visconti-van-gogh-fountain-pen-vincents-chair-fine/p/VI-78344-F. - Colin
When was the last time you cleaned it? Is it like this with all inks? There may also be debris between the tines that's cutting the ink flow, so using a brass sheet to floss it could help. Beyond that, the tines might be pinching in and causing these dry writing issues. Using a loupe to get a good look at the tines could help! - Colin
A couple on Reddit said that they bought matching Van Gogh pens for their wedding, instead of rings. So sweet 💕.

That's awesome to hear, thanks for the support! What's your crown jewel of your FP collection thus far? - Colin
The same here.. My collection is small but growing....
Does it come with a left ear?
Haha, not yet! I wonder if Visconti will eventually use that self-portrait of Van Gogh for inspiration. - Colin

Starry Night seems to be my favorite as far as designs go.
Yeah, such an iconic painting to base a pen around. Looks great! - Colin
Same....
Starry Night was featured in Doctor Who and your review just solidified my purchase choice! Thanks!
Which episode lol?
I'm sooo getting this for me on Christmas.
Nobody does is stylish as the Italians, this presentation blows it out of the water.
I just ordered one of the Irises versions and I'm going crazy waiting for it to arrive!!!
Great choice! Love the green/blue look to it, and I love the box these come in as well. - Colin
I've been eyeing the Room in Arles version but the Pollard Willows does look pretty cool.
that graphic of the ink capacity was super cool
Awesome! That's all Jenni there, she's a rockstar :) -Brian

Quite insightful video, Brian! I am pleased with the fact that they write 'wet.'. I'm gratified beyond measure that you are retailing Visconti's!
+Mark Grago We're pretty excited about it too. Thanks for watching Mark! -Margaret
I didnt wanna buy the Van Gogh one but you made me want to buy it.
I think they're worth it for the packaging alone. It's like a work of art. ;) - Colin
what did you mean by for the packaging alone?
Just the nice leatherette case and the picture of the painting that inspired the pen. What Brian shows at 1:30 in this video. - Colin
i thought that you said only the packaging is worth buying lol
This was posted on my birthday

Your starry night is so nice
I'd buy one if it had a gold nib. All high-end pens should have gold nibs and worth spending more money for one.
Good review, thanks!
Is there a difference between the Visconti Van Gogh FP and the resin edition? Which one is the one this video showing? Thanks
On my list to purchase, irises.
Can I just get of each? 😁 Never heard of these, but I love that aqua pastel one. Melt. Me. 😍
wow eye candy, nice job! btw what camera lens do you use for shooting your vids? colours are always spot on!
+Mishka Fifty YEAH
NICE
Very pretty! It would be very helpful if you would provide a direct hyperlink to the product or website in your description box.

wonderful pens , the finish is excellent , which would you choose Brian?cheers
I picked the Starry Night (hello, blue!), but honestly, the Pollard Willows has impressed me the most. I may cave and take that one too! -Brian
Yes the Pollard Willows is what I would choose I think , cheers I have bet on you going for the pollards actually ..
knew it would be a blue !
Is the pen injection molded as visconti is so fond of or is it turned
so beautiful! just the price...

Brian, do they make a 14 K gold nib? How much?
Visconti Van Gogh and Aurora Talentum Which is better?
I would lean towards the Talentum because of the gold nib. It makes for a smooth-writing and bouncy writing experience. Love the look of the Black Ops Talentum as well. - Colin
The Goulet Pen Company thank you👍

The nib as well does not have an M in it.
Those are recent design changes to both the band & nib by Visconti. - Colin
@@Gouletpens Thanks!
Are these pens limited edition? Or will they continually be available for some time?
+thisisbs808 Not limited. Should be around for some time :) -Margaret
Nice... anyone know a more affordable pen with a magnetically-closing cap? Because I really like sound of that.
karasawa21797 monteverde regatta
Pouring vitamin b on my money tree....
do you guys ship worldwide?
Yes, we ship to most countries! You can read more about our international shipping policies & options on our FAQs page: www.gouletpens.com/faq?tabNo=1 - Colin
You can get the broad nib at pen boutique.com
Absolutely gorgeous! ...and way out of my price range, haha
I wonder why it costs so much more than the rembrandt!

What Lesslighter and YugiRider2 said...the facets and the material, they're both unique and difficult to achieve! -Brian
How does this compare to a Lamy 2000?
The LAMY 2000 has the hooded gold nib, so I think it writes a bit smoother. The Makrolon is also very durable but significantly more boring than the designs on the Van Gogh. Writing experience is great for a steel nib with the Visconti though and is way easier to clean out with it being cartridge/converter. - Colin

The Painter /Norah Jones says Hello,... ;)
I know I'm supposed to want a LAMY 2000, but these pens are calling to me, they are so beautiful to look at. It looks like they write well too.
Sir, why sunflower is no longer available? Is Visconti discontinued that?
Yeah, Visconti discontinued it a few months back. Van Gogh model is kind of a revolving door of new versions, like 'Vincent's Chair' which is launching soon: www.gouletpens.com/visconti-van-gogh-fountain-pen-vincents-chair-fine/p/VI-78344-F. - Colin
I have one more question, Is this pen can accept one more mini catridge in empty space of barrel?
Like a standard international short cartridge? Yeah, you should be able to fit an extra behind it. - Colin
Sorry for my mess grammar. Thanks a lot.
Is there any tip to put a pen in cap fully? In your vids, there's a bit gap when you first put your pen.
Broad nib is much better! very wet and smooth
My van gogh is SUPER DRY. :/ basically unusable
