I will say childe’s overworld value is very high for me too. Him being both ranged + melee and hydro plus he kills everything so easy and riptide is so satisfying, this guy is so nice to use

Me too. I have 36* consistently with my Childe International and Mono Geo team (Itto, Zhongli, Albedo, Gorou). I simply ignored Dendro altogether. Only needed Dendro for the last boss in 12-2 in the current Abyss.
@@vivekp4854 You need crit rate and doing auto attack within stance mode (E) to apply riptide status onto the enemy. When an enemy dies, it will create an hydro explosion and spread the riptide effect to other enemies. You can also use the burst outside his E stance to apply riptide on enemies. Like when an enemy is dying, doing burst in stance mode will detonate the riptide effect of the enemies. Also doing a bow charged-shot will apply riptide. Make sure to have all ascension talents as well.
Childe is my favourite character lore-wise, so it makes me happy that he's as relevant to the meta and fun to play as he is. Good luck to all Childe wanters who don't have him yet!
Pretty glad to see the C4 constellation being clarified here. I C6ed my Childe this patch bc he's my favourite character, and I've been having a lot of fun with his C4. So it's a bit unfortunate that that constellation is so infamous because it's honestly not bad, as Zajef explained and it actually feels really nice to play too.
As someone who has constellations, how impactful do you think they are? I mean, specifically his C4, how much "value" has it added and what has it allowed you to do? I have my Childe at C1 and was just curious, saving for Dehya, but I have so many good units that it's more about boosting what I've got really so I was wondering if there's good 4 stars on his banners in the future if it'd be worth picking up a potential con here or there.
It was labeled as bad before because they wanted childe to be the one to trigger vapes. Hence more hydro is bad. Now his role is much more accepting of c4 since he is now an enabler. More hydro is good (more seeds, more reverse vapes)
@@marcusaurelius4777 Basically his constellations are mostly quality of life upgrades. C1 with the shortened cooldown to allow for faster clear time and makes his playstyle a bit more forgiving. C2 doesn't do that much. It gives a bit of energy but like Zajef explained here too, it solves a problem when you don't really have a problem i.e. when fighting multiple enemies and it doesn't give energy when you're struggling to get it, meaning when fighting single enemies. It's somewhat noticeable in multi target situations bc it definitely gives a good amount of energy particles but I wouldn't recommend going for C2 alone. His C3 is a good dmg upgrade and generally recommend for a more main dps oriented Childe. I had C3 plus R1 Polar Star for a whole year before his rerun now and I'd say if you're dedicated to Childe and like his playstyle but wanna make him more of a main carry style character or generally up his personal dmg, C3 is your friend. C4 is the most gameplay changing constellation in general. Especially now with Dendro though I'm still testing and can't yet say too much. It also adds additional dmg in Xiangling Childe teams, I've heard. Tbh I haven't yet played International since I got C4 bc I've been wanting to play new teams. I have an afk style hyperbloom team where I apply Nahida's dendro mark, Childe's riptide, use Raiden skill and Zhongli shield plus pillar and then watch the dmg do itself while standing on the pillar. Extra dmg from Childe C4 while chilling on my pillar in melee stance xD I'll have to do some serious testing next to check what C4 actually enables for my account. C5 ofc gives additional levels for his burst so if you wanna nuke even bigger, you can look for C5. And C6 allows you to ignore skill cooldown if you manage to ult in melee stance before switching to ranged. C6 is mostly useful and fun in open world stuff. But now that we have dendro teams for him, possibly C6 as well as C4 make him more viable for hyperbloom, burgeon or bloom teams because you might be able to have a nearly 100% uptime on his melee stance (could run into energy issues though bc of how melee burst works). And ofc C4 lets you get off field hydro application. Alright looong ramble. There's currently some testing for Childe Dendro teams going on and we always have folks who give their 2 cents on his constellation value too.
Important point about Childe's C1 that you didn't mention is that it is actually useful when you have trouble timing Childe's field time, because you're no longer punished as much for overextending a little bit.
Childe international can be a bit tough to master, but the pay-off is huge, and it seems many people agree seeing how it's the Number 1 used team in current and always in top 3 among past abyss rotations.

Zajeff skip over the fact that he is extremely vulnerable to mistake, ping, rng enemies pattern while intentionally being vague of how much damage he actually has over his competor to be actually worth it.

Yeah. But then what about Ayaka? Melt Ganyu? Morgana? Better? How much? 15% with a whole can of worm that goes along with Childe kit? Not worth it. Especially when people dont lack damage nowaday.
The thing about polar star is that it starts to become much better than either thundering pulse or aqua at around r3. I have r5 aqua and r5 polar star since Childe and Yelan are my favorites, and polar star is noticeably stronger for Childe. Aqua is much easier to use, and you can make up for the lower attack stat a little with external attack buffs like Bennett or using one of the 2pc/2pc 18% atk artifact sets. That said if you like Childe’s play style you probably don’t mind having to be more technical about your rotation and can learn to get the stacks up quickly.
Don't matter what'd happen in the future I'll still use my babygirl aka number 11 of Fatui Harbingers codename Childe but he also goes by Tartaglia I love him so much
I think he's really good on burgeon team bc his hydro application is so fast that enemies barely get effected by burning but u can still vape his burst on the beginning of the rotation

As someone who's had childe since his first banner, I wanna add that as my account grew stronger, when I was finally able to one-round some domains and even abyss chambers, childe suddenly become exponentially more fun to play. He really felt like an entirely new character and I had that same excitement playing with him as I first did when I initially rolled him.

Adding the same number to a larger base number is marginal diminishing returns (aka linear scaling). When the number you add gets smaller that's absolute diminishing returns. I would very much like for this terminology to be adopted.

Like, what's even the point of pulling for a unit that specializes is single target nowadays, when you can just draft a random hyperbloom team that requires barely any investment and random EM artifacts, and on top of that requires like 3 or 4 braincells to play.

There is a trick to instantly resetting his E cool down. But it's not easy and you give up power to try it, will not work against single targets, and takes a good amount of investment. You need a very high rolled 4 piece gambler set and not worry about how long you are in melee stance. Make sure his burst is up prior to swapping out to prep for 2nd rotation and(this is the tricky part) make sure that by the time you return to him there is an enemy near death. Fire the ranged burst and if it kills an enemy then gamblers will proc and reset your E even if you were in it for 30 seconds on the first rotation. Gamblers has a 15 second effect cool down, so even if you kill fast with him the effect should be up by the time you swap back to him. As a bonus, despite losing stats overall for using a 4 star set you do get 20% increased E damage aka riptide and melee stance swap.
My C6 Childe is amazing in a hyperbloom team. Almost 100% on-field time, no cooldown, crazy amount of dendro cores. I was kind of bored of using the vape team, so I'm glad there is a new way to use him.
I played the Childe/Zajeff voice lines out loud without context and my wife was so confused and couldn't figure out if it was Childe's real english voice lines or if something was wrong. She didn't recognize that it was Zajeff either 😆 We play in Japanese so she doesn't recognize the english VA as well.
If I were to say, I'd say he does. But in every one of those dendro team, ayato is simply the better option. So just stick to international, no need to force dendro on him imo

Not with Nahida, Bennett and Kazuha. Childe's ult is a big portion of the dmg. Ayato can't hit 500k per ult, for speed running Childe is just better. If you want to invest in either Ayato or Childe, Childe is just better. At the same investment, you get more dmg with him. Plus he's easier to build, Ayato without 4pc effect hits like a wet noodle. Childe shreds everything with 2pc sets
Intergrassional is so fun to play. I much prefer Childe/Kokomi for burgeon and hyperbloom respectively and it's even more reason for me to skip Ayato for Yelan so she can support my Yoimiya

33:42 For the second rotation instead of using bennett Q first then childe CA for double swirling, I much prefer using a CA on childe after the funneling to remove lingering pyro, then casting E to apply strong hydro just like in the first rotation. This allows you to not be forced to use a childe CA in melee range inside of benny circle which can be very hard and annoying to do without getting interrupted as seen here 28:19 especially when there are multiple enemies. Instead, using childe's CA into E allows you to dash back and get some range to do a CA without being slapped in the face wasting the duration of the bennett burst.
Childe is impossible to be out of meta, just because he is a member of arguably the most strongest team in genshin, which is the international. The only national variant that is flexible enough to have an almost identical top tier performance in both single target and aoe, and after the dendro release theres no more "might" or "change" in genshin's meta this will be the meta until the game ends, thats why childe will always gonna be meta and one of the characters that will always be a good invesment in the long run.
@@cynt4416 the only "risks" scenarios youre talking ab are the scenarios where the game actually requires you to run specific elements/playstyle, like how goldenwolflord requires you to run geo or the electro bat requires you to run mobile teams or dendro hypo requires you to run dendro and etc, ofc childe wouldnt be good there thats just obvious because those types of scenarios are intentionally made for certain types of characters/elements/reactions. But if its not against a niched scenario international team always smashes 100% of the time, they may not always be the fastest but they will always be within good to top tier caliber they wouldnt even touch the decent tier. Childe is one of the vital reasons why is that the case because he is the most effective aoe hydro enabler for national variants while also having great relevancy in single target. Ayato is the closest to him both in aoe and ST but ayato doesnt have a nuking ability and frontloaded teams are the meta of genshin.

Reaching a certain dps thresshold in an easy, consistent and reliable way. Ayato just do everything Childe do with good enough dps on top of being much more reliable and versatile.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but afaik Rust only reduces aimed shot dmg, so while Childe is in melee stance his CA should not be affected by that reduction. EDIT: Q: Why not use Kazuha burst in international? My only guess is that he may steals vapes from XL?
CA in melee stance still count as CA. That's why Rust is usually no that high on Childe's weapon recommendation. You can watch Xilce's Childe weapon comparison video to see all the different numbers from different weapons. It's pretty well documented.

@@Levylas he said it in the stream it got edit out i think and the kazuha burst apply and spread one pyro and hydro for it swirl to all target so consistent elemental buff but in single target there isnt anyone else to swirl both elements to any other enemy so there will not be dmg bonus for entire burst duration only one element will have
One of my favorite teams to play with him now is International w/Nahida to replace Kazuha. Because of her triggering burning off of pyronado, Tartaglia becomes the one forward Vaping and gets a ton of damage from Nahida’s EM buff. Kazuha is still stronger due to VV shred, but it’s fun seeing Tartaglia consistently Vape for a change.
I understand hyperbloom but EM Raiden just hurts me to see. It feels so wrong to have dragons bane on her. I put it on her for overworld and I felt dirty
Same, I view it as a happy incident that Raiden has another good build. But personally I am just never gonna play it cause I value her entire kit way more in other teams. I don't want to lock her into dendro comps being an EM bot. And I don't like switching artifacts back and forth.
I don’t have childe, but everytime my friend asked me to clear their spiral abyss childe international is my go to team. I have no idea how to use him, his combo etc until watched this vid today. I didn’t even know that his e cd depends on how long he used his e? Lol. But the team gave good dmg (of course it’s vaporize with bennett, xiangling, kazuha) so my zero knowledge about him is never an issue.
Who cares about Childe x Dendro anyway. Childe international still one of the best teams in the entire game anyway, it can clear any content with ease no matter what youre fighting or how many enemies youre fighting (except gimmick bosses like dendro cube that DEMANDS a specific element.) . the same cant really be said about many teams.
Dendro is pretty fun and hits like a truck so its fun to switch to it when we get bored of international. He may not be the best option in it but he's still very useable 🙏🙏
I mean, in terms of meta yeah there's not much reason to use him outside of international, but eventually some people get tired of using the same teams over and over. In some abyss resets I'd much rather experiment with different teams than go with my usual ones, while in others I just go for my usual strongest teams to get 36* quickly.
@@nela1728 it almost did as well as international for me in AoE, but weaker in single target though. No point of running it over international which excels in AoE and single target both, but burgeon is much more fun to me and im glad i can use him with dendro and make a pretty good team

Childe is a psychopath and I was sad that I didn't have the choice to execute him for his crimes. In the game, he's a chore to play, and nowhere near as good as his fanatical fans like to claim. There are multiple teams that are far more effective in the overworld, and much better in the abyss. Childe is basically just a F2P copium main.
Funny how his fanboy claim high risk high reward. How high? 40 stars? 50 stars? Because playing low risk low reward team with decent investment only give us 36 stars.
After two years I finally pulled Childe because I ended up with two copies of Yoi's bow but didn't want to spend more primo in Yoi's banner. So this video was very helpful for me. As someone with all the Hydro 5* its nice that different hydro units approach to Hyperbloom can be little different. I used quite a few different variations but my favorites are- Zhongli, Raiden, Yelan, Nahida; Beidou, Ayato, Kuki, Nahida; Kuki, Nahida, XQ, Yelan and now Kokomi, Childe, Raiden, Nahida. I didn't know about Dori's interaction with seeds. I wonder if Kazuha, Childe, Dori, Dendro MC will be good.
I'd love more weapons like Viridescent Hunt, it can combo so nicely with Kazuha. Too bad I stopped spending any money whatsoever after R5 Serpent Spine and R5 Deathmatch, which still serve me very well to this day.

And C6 allows you to ignore skill cooldown if you manage to ult in melee stance before switching to ranged. C6 is mostly useful and fun in open world stuff. But now that we have dendro teams for him, possibly C6 as well as C4 make him more viable for hyperbloom, burgeon or bloom teams because you might be able to have a nearly 100% uptime on his melee stance (could run into energy issues though bc of how melee burst works). And ofc C4 lets you get off field hydro application.

Important point about Childe's C1 that you didn't mention is that it is actually useful when you have trouble timing Childe's field time, because you're no longer punished as much for overextending a little bit.
Childe international can be a bit tough to master, but the pay-off is huge, and it seems many people agree seeing how it's the Number 1 used team in current and always in top 3 among past abyss rotations.

The thing about polar star is that it starts to become much better than either thundering pulse or aqua at around r3. I have r5 aqua and r5 polar star since Childe and Yelan are my favorites, and polar star is noticeably stronger for Childe. Aqua is much easier to use, and you can make up for the lower attack stat a little with external attack buffs like Bennett or using one of the 2pc/2pc 18% atk artifact sets. That said if you like Childe’s play style you probably don’t mind having to be more technical about your rotation and can learn to get the stacks up quickly.

As someone who's had childe since his first banner, I wanna add that as my account grew stronger, when I was finally able to one-round some domains and even abyss chambers, childe suddenly become exponentially more fun to play. He really felt like an entirely new character and I had that same excitement playing with him as I first did when I initially rolled him.

Childe had it pretty easy compared to yoimiya or hu tao when it comes to being shafted by dendro meta imo. Like, what's even the point of pulling for a unit that specializes is single target nowadays, when you can just draft a random hyperbloom team that requires barely any investment and random EM artifacts, and on top of that requires like 3 or 4 braincells to play.

There is a trick to instantly resetting his E cool down. But it's not easy and you give up power to try it, will not work against single targets, and takes a good amount of investment.
You need a very high rolled 4 piece gambler set and not worry about how long you are in melee stance. Make sure his burst is up prior to swapping out to prep for 2nd rotation and(this is the tricky part) make sure that by the time you return to him there is an enemy near death. Fire the ranged burst and if it kills an enemy then gamblers will proc and reset your E even if you were in it for 30 seconds on the first rotation.
Gamblers has a 15 second effect cool down, so even if you kill fast with him the effect should be up by the time you swap back to him.
As a bonus, despite losing stats overall for using a 4 star set you do get 20% increased E damage aka riptide and melee stance swap.
The last time I was this early for a zajef video, diluc was still top dps in jenshin impact

My C6 Childe is amazing in a hyperbloom team. Almost 100% on-field time, no cooldown, crazy amount of dendro cores. I was kind of bored of using the vape team, so I'm glad there is a new way to use him.
I played the Childe/Zajeff voice lines out loud without context and my wife was so confused and couldn't figure out if it was Childe's real english voice lines or if something was wrong. She didn't recognize that it was Zajeff either 😆

I finally got him to a decent crit ratio 54% crit rate and 158% crit damage. I know he could be way better but he’s so satisfying to play either way.

Not with Nahida, Bennett and Kazuha. Childe's ult is a big portion of the dmg. Ayato can't hit 500k per ult, for speed running Childe is just better. If you want to invest in either Ayato or Childe, Childe is just better. At the same investment, you get more dmg with him. Plus he's easier to build, Ayato without 4pc effect hits like a wet noodle. Childe shreds everything with 2pc sets
Intergrassional is so fun to play. I much prefer Childe/Kokomi for burgeon and hyperbloom respectively and it's even more reason for me to skip Ayato for Yelan so she can support my Yoimiya

For the second rotation instead of using bennett Q first then childe CA for double swirling, I much prefer using a CA on childe after the funneling to remove lingering pyro, then casting E to apply strong hydro just like in the first rotation.
This allows you to not be forced to use a childe CA in melee range inside of benny circle which can be very hard and annoying to do without getting interrupted as seen here 28:19 especially when there are multiple enemies.
Instead, using childe's CA into E allows you to dash back and get some range to do a CA without being slapped in the face wasting the duration of the bennett burst.
Childe is impossible to be out of meta, just because he is a member of arguably the most strongest team in genshin, which is the international. The only national variant that is flexible enough to have an almost identical top tier performance in both single target and aoe, and after the dendro release theres no more "might" or "change" in genshin's meta this will be the meta until the game ends, thats why childe will always gonna be meta and one of the characters that will always be a good invesment in the long run.
He have been out of meta long ago. I dont understand why all TC never bother to talk about risk and just focus on ideal scenario damage.
@@cynt4416 the only "risks" scenarios youre talking ab are the scenarios where the game actually requires you to run specific elements/playstyle, like how goldenwolflord requires you to run geo or the electro bat requires you to run mobile teams or dendro hypo requires you to run dendro and etc, ofc childe wouldnt be good there thats just obvious because those types of scenarios are intentionally made for certain types of characters/elements/reactions. But if its not against a niched scenario international team always smashes 100% of the time, they may not always be the fastest but they will always be within good to top tier caliber they wouldnt even touch the decent tier. Childe is one of the vital reasons why is that the case because he is the most effective aoe hydro enabler for national variants while also having great relevancy in single target. Ayato is the closest to him both in aoe and ST but ayato doesnt have a nuking ability and frontloaded teams are the meta of genshin.
Solid performance in AoE and ST, sure, but calling it top tier performance in either scenario is a stretch

Please correct me if I am wrong, but afaik Rust only reduces aimed shot dmg, so while Childe is in melee stance his CA should not be affected by that reduction.

CA in melee stance still count as CA. That's why Rust is usually no that high on Childe's weapon recommendation. You can watch Xilce's Childe weapon comparison video to see all the different numbers from different weapons. It's pretty well documented.

I watched it and it helped me to clarify my doubts, ty. It turned out the source where I looked up the weapon description was simply different from what it is actually in the game.

One of my favorite teams to play with him now is International w/Nahida to replace Kazuha. Because of her triggering burning off of pyronado, Tartaglia becomes the one forward Vaping and gets a ton of damage from Nahida’s EM buff. Kazuha is still stronger due to VV shred, but it’s fun seeing Tartaglia consistently Vape for a change.

Same, I view it as a happy incident that Raiden has another good build. But personally I am just never gonna play it cause I value her entire kit way more in other teams. I don't want to lock her into dendro comps being an EM bot. And I don't like switching artifacts back and forth.

I don’t have childe, but everytime my friend asked me to clear their spiral abyss childe international is my go to team. I have no idea how to use him, his combo etc until watched this vid today. I didn’t even know that his e cd depends on how long he used his e? Lol. But the team gave good dmg (of course it’s vaporize with bennett, xiangling, kazuha) so my zero knowledge about him is never an issue.
Who cares about Childe x Dendro anyway. Childe international still one of the best teams in the entire game anyway, it can clear any content with ease no matter what youre fighting or how many enemies youre fighting (except gimmick bosses like dendro cube that DEMANDS a specific element.) . the same cant really be said about many teams.
Dendro is pretty fun and hits like a truck so its fun to switch to it when we get bored of international. He may not be the best option in it but he's still very useable 🙏🙏
Childe with nahida is almost as strong as him with xiangling and it allows you to vape more of his attacks
I mean, in terms of meta yeah there's not much reason to use him outside of international, but eventually some people get tired of using the same teams over and over. In some abyss resets I'd much rather experiment with different teams than go with my usual ones, while in others I just go for my usual strongest teams to get 36* quickly.

In the game, he's a chore to play, and nowhere near as good as his fanatical fans like to claim. There are multiple teams that are far more effective in the overworld, and much better in the abyss.

Funny how his fanboy claim high risk high reward. How high? 40 stars? 50 stars? Because playing low risk low reward team with decent investment only give us 36 stars.
After two years I finally pulled Childe because I ended up with two copies of Yoi's bow but didn't want to spend more primo in Yoi's banner. So this video was very helpful for me. As someone with all the Hydro 5* its nice that different hydro units approach to Hyperbloom can be little different.
I used quite a few different variations but my favorites are- Zhongli, Raiden, Yelan, Nahida; Beidou, Ayato, Kuki, Nahida; Kuki, Nahida, XQ, Yelan and now Kokomi, Childe, Raiden, Nahida.
I didn't know about Dori's interaction with seeds. I wonder if Kazuha, Childe, Dori, Dendro MC will be good.
Childe being good in only 1 team reminds me of Keqing, but unlike aggravate Keqing International is actually meta lmao.

I'd love more weapons like Viridescent Hunt, it can combo so nicely with Kazuha. Too bad I stopped spending any money whatsoever after R5 Serpent Spine and R5 Deathmatch, which still serve me very well to this day.
