He's lazy enough that he's not gonna care about someone "trying" to stab Papyrus even though he didn't really have much intent to kill or anything. If the human doesn't have a lot of intent or desire to kill or harm, then it's unlikely to do much. It's why you usually do chip/little damage to monsters at 1 LV. The guy even said that he didn't really want to stab Papyrus, he's just desperate and likely thinks he has to stab people to get what he wants as it's likely all he knows.
You'd have difficulty forgiving someone if they tried to stab your sibling. I know I would go all Megolovania on someone if they tried to hurt my brother.

He had tears in his eyes when he stabbed Papyrus's sweater, so clearly he was desperate. I'm thinking Mr. Knife is a homeless man who's been mistreated enough that he thinks violence is the only way he can achieve anything.
Here's your backstory human. Mister knife from young age did not have many things therefore he had to learn how to pickpocket and steal things to get by and provide for his mother. His mother was a very kind soul but she did not support her son's actions and try to change her Sons ways and that worked for a while until his mother got sick and they couldn't pay for medication it's so she died and he blames himself because if he kept doing what he was doing he could have actually pay for her medications and so he kept on stealing until he met Papyrus!(I hope you like this backstory on Mr knife)

This will probably never get seen by anyone, but I was recently revisiting some of my old favorite Comic Dubs, since I haven't watched any for maybe 7 months. I stumbled back upon this dun and I just want to say it is by far the best dub I've ever heard. The voices feel so real. Like, when "Mr Knife" had a meltdown, he *had* that meltdown. The way how the typical Papyrus voice wasn't stretched all the way to it's lengths really showed how calm he was in the situation, while still keeping the iconic voice in mind. That takes skill. And that's something that you have very much of.

I've known a lot of people who have a plain and simple view of the world as it is but are still cheerful and seemingly almost unaffected by things. They think it's a struggle that they have to face - they consider being nice as a heroic act that anyone on their sane minds would give themselves into on behalf of what remains in the world left protecting, and I think Papyrus could be that 'kind' of person. However, the world is going to be the world - cold and relentlessly competitive. The warmth that we all so love actually comes from within, so bringing peace to the world may be impossible but to give love (not LOVE), care (not scare) and devotion (not destruction) to those who deserve it is well within anyone's hands. To know that there are people who still care and you found them: nothing can be more of a paradise. In this case, Papyrus cooking spaghetti for his friends and being an all around nice guy to people who know him.

so, if Monsters were real i am convinced the world would actually be a better place, anyone agree? i think that in the Librarby of Snowdin it says that monster souls are literally MADE of compassion and that unlike humans they need it to exist. and of course Papyrus is the embodiment of innocence he's just such a cinnamon roll. so my conclusion is that all monsters are kind and gentle and could teach humanity to be better. sadly they dont exist :(

This will probably never get seen by anyone, but I was recently revisiting some of my old favorite Comic Dubs, since I haven't watched any for maybe 7 months. I stumbled back upon this dun and I just want to say it is by far the best dub I've ever heard. The voices feel so real. Like, when "Mr Knife" had a meltdown, he *had* that meltdown. The way how the typical Papyrus voice wasn't stretched all the way to it's lengths really showed how calm he was in the situation, while still keeping the iconic voice in mind. That takes skill. And that's something that you have very much of.

I've known a lot of people who have a plain and simple view of the world as it is but are still cheerful and seemingly almost unaffected by things. They think it's a struggle that they have to face - they consider being nice as a heroic act that anyone on their sane minds would give themselves into on behalf of what remains in the world left protecting, and I think Papyrus could be that 'kind' of person.
However, the world is going to be the world - cold and relentlessly competitive. The warmth that we all so love actually comes from within, so bringing peace to the world may be impossible but to give love (not LOVE), care (not scare) and devotion (not destruction) to those who deserve it is well within anyone's hands. To know that there are people who still care and you found them: nothing can be more of a paradise.
In this case, Papyrus cooking spaghetti for his friends and being an all around nice guy to people who know him.
