I don't normally care too much for longer songs, but these guys are so damn good.
Unbelievable musicianship, brilliant song and one of the most beautiful guitar duets ever...!
This was done in one take. In drums Kai Hahto - now in Nightwish as well as the basist Jukka Koskinen 2021. Yet they both are still also working with Wintersun.

Loneliness is sooo good.
Winter is cold here in Finland, but no worries, we have Wintersun!! This is "Nightwish-level" talent so were are on a different galaxy, than "normal"/other heavy bands. That is why they are "Sons of Winter and Stars"! And you as a pro, understand how difficult this "rehearsal" was. Kai using click tracks" and Jari, the vocalist using totally unforgiving microphone plus at least 300 back tracks.....We want more! Best Regards from Finland!

On the album, the instrumental intro is actually a separate track called “Darkness and Frost.”

Love this song and i compliment you on your analysis of it. The drummer Kai and the bassist are currently with nightwish. I love kai he s a metronome on the drumms. thnx for sharing.
This song/video was my gateway to melodic death metal. Do you know the band Dark Tranquillity? They’ve become one of my new favorite bands. If you don’t know them, check out their performance of “Atoma” live at Summer Breeze 2017, uploaded by Divlja Svinja.

Kai is an amazing drummer but Yari’s vocals are amazing. Not bad for a guy with part of a lung missing. Finland has produced so many amazing bands as has the rest of Scandinavia. Have you heard of Dimmu Borgir from Norway? They are epic too. Thanks for this reaction. Respect from Scotland 🤘🤘

Jukka or however you spell his name the bass player sing here but they don't have him singing in nightwish maybe he can only growl but I could swear I saw him singing regularly as backup in one of wintersun song
He can do more than growling. I hope he'll sing in the next NW record, I love Troy but Floor is a little "alone" on stage without a powerful male voice to harmonize with.

Honestly, Sons of Winter and Stars one ups this on several levels!
First 3,5 minutes or so is the Darkness and frost intro for the Time.
Find your most adventurous buddy and play Sons of Winter and Stars for him (or her). A drummer would best as Kai’s performance over that 14 minutes is Olympian!

Almost accurate. Finland is not part of the Scanidinavian countires which are Norway and Sweden (Scandinavian peninsula), Denmark is often included, Island sometimes but Finland never. A Nordic band would be spot on as Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland make the Nordic countries. (not meant in any bad way).

For someone who professes to hate the video after 4 minutes it is interesting that you spent the next 10 minutes with a huge grim on your face. This is Europe - 3 minute radio friendly pap can stay in the land that deserves it.
He hates the video editing, but loves the music.
