I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for...
@Alethia-q9s That's actually quite impressive, I could use some Info on your FA, I am looking to make a change on my finances this year as well
@Alethia-q9s The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?
@Alethia-q9s I will give this a look, thanks a bunch for sharing.
Ridiculous. We are retired. Yes…difficult…but maybe try going back to the Depression days. Try again. My mom was staving in Germany during the war. We have no idea what hardship is.
Is this a turn-key and what is the total cost of this out the door, or should I say.....in the door?😮
finally a house with lots of closet space in good sized entrance ! Love the sunroom
I would trade the sunroom for a second bathroom. I had a sunroom and hated it. It was too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. It had too much glass and glass is a very poor insulator.
@@lisabaltzer4190 2nd bathrooms are a waste of precious space in one's latter years. Maybe a 2nd GUEST toilet off the lounge area where the pantry is, or in the spare bedroom, because elderly people can't comfortably get into or out of a bath, and who for Heaven's sake, needs 2 showers? 🤔🤭My late Mom loved my Dad dearly, never didn't share a bed together, unless Dad was away on business years prior, but she hated sharing a toilet with him. She just had a THING about each of them having their own, as well as having a guest toilet with a tiny hand basin.
I really like the screened in porch the most.
ME TOO!!! 👌
This house is perfect. I just love it.
I’m in love with this house, it’s exactly what I’m looking for, I want to downsize now that I’m in my 70’s, I have donated all extra clutter and given family heirloom to the next generation. Again I love this space…
I couldn't have shared my very own sentiments better ... ONLY ... I still have a sh*t-load of clutter to get rid of! I'm in Durban 🌞🌍🦈South Africa ... and you? OH! I can't tollerate the cold, but if I had heated floors and proper heating throughout, I wouldn't mind how cold it get on the outside. Also, I'd prefer a decent view ... more than simply a golf course, and definitely NOT overlooking other homes! 😫😝😁 Curious to know where you are? Maybe we can start a small 6 home retirement 'village' of our own. 🙏👌😍
To the person asking about closets, etc.
The bedrooms do have closets. They are not walkin, but they are there and it was decorated with a dresser. There is a pantry for food and storage. I would place cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink and bathroom sink. Vacuums, brooms, etc can probably be stored in the pantry.
Oh I would make this a one bedroom with a on and a half bath!! This is perfect 😍
I like the second room, as it could be a hobby room, or accommodate visitors or a caregiver.
You fixed the old design & moved the FP & changed the utility room. Much better.
Thank you so much!!!😄😄
LOVE THIS HOME
Love this. All of it!
Absolutely PERFECT!
I'd make the porch smaller to add to the kitchen
RUclips has really jumped the shark when it expects me to watch commercials in the middle of watching a longer commercial.
Grand scale of minimalistic living!
One more bathroom, a dishwasher and wrap around deck would be perfect. Also, I find the tripping hazard of a rug to be ironic.
Just perfect!!! 👌🏻❤👌🏻Greetings from South Africa. 😊🇿🇦
Fajny dom i ogród 🏠🌳📕🖐️🍇
This house has a bigger laundry room. And a mop sink, which mine doesn't, and it has a bigger pantry than my home, and my home is thirty-one hundred square feet. I'd take this cute house in a second.
The cost per square foot will vary greatly depending on what you want and the availability of materials. If you don't do brick, or use a different roof structure, and have no up grades, don't add a basement etc. the price would be lower than say having all the extra bells and whistles. The best thing to do is get a house plan and check with a local contractor. Nice plan
Wish my retirement could afford me a new house again
I suppose the garage is not necessary if you are too old to drive? Perhaps that open seating area could be a carport.
Good morning 🌅, Just the perfect size, back in 2002/3 I met a young lady, I had just turned 50, she was 47, we ended up buying a small Forge, 8 x 6 mt , I renovated it, then in 2013 we purchased a old Moulin/ Mill in France, one esteem to another, 4 floors in side 12 x 7 Mt I turned it into a dwelling, basement, 3 bedroom on the second floor, kitchen dining room lounge third floor, huge attic,
I was being used , I have been scammed, for hundreds of thousands of pounds, 2019 I had to leave, I could not stand the abuse anymore, so I move over to France, this is where I now live, I now in my 70s, and I’m a little pea in a huge container, I don’t have the money to finish my project, a solitude and quiet space, I have done a lot of renovation projects in the past and a lot of them are the same as your project. It looks very impressive., France
Not perfect without a garage. We old people still drive.
Needs more storage unless there is a basement. Lovely house. I wish I could live in this type of house.
It needs a powder room and instead of the huge fireplace I would have a small wood stove in the corner with a flat top so I could heat up soup or make coffee when the power is out. Otherwise it's great.
Absolutely Lovely !😊
The plus? - screened in sunroom with space for eating by candlelight if you wish (the rumpled carpet-throw was a bit tacky), the negative?...2 bedrooms with one bathroom…one bathroom is so 1950’s! Pick up the extra space by removing one bedroom to expand on bathroom as an ensuite, and use the lost closet space towards creating a master walk-in. Also, have a small powder room integrated into the sunroom for that second bathroom. Voila, now you're talkin! Re: the lost bedroom?...you’re retired now, remember?...and there’s either just you, or you and your significant other. If you have company, make sure your couch turns into a comfortable foldout bed for the short-stay guest and they can use the powder room, which has a sink & toilet. Yes, you’re guest has to use the ensuite shower, but hey, make their stay short, right?
Great design. No TV in the LR?
Love ❤this home. 😊
Nice art on the wall. Who is the artist?
Always gotta think resale, and a one bath house would be a deal breaker for most buyers.
I love this channel. Where are these built or are you just showing plans. Plans only purchased or will you build ? Beautiful homes. Thank you
It has a cold doctor’s office look to me. It’s not homey enough for me,but it is acctractive.
I love the foundation and patios. All on one floor…….perfect for a couple but too much house for one person. You need a guest house out back for friends and family.
A guest house??? You say this is too much house for one person, yet you want to add a guest house??? Who is going to maintain all this real estate? What about the expense of building another house, paying the taxes, heating, cooling, maintenance? This is intended as an affordable one- or two-person dwelling, not a compound for extended family. And not everyone has guests in the later years. I haven't had a stay-over guest for over a decade -- my choice and others know it. Your idea sounds great for a younger couple or a family, but having been retired for 20 years, I know a good house plan when I see it, and this is it.
@@Jax52reg Not too much house for this single 74-year old!
I would change laundry door with a pocket door.
Can you please make a house with three bedrooms? 🙏❤️
You could easily do that yourself.
Truly a remarkable design but the bottom line is the cost plus a lot to build it on. Please post the cost!
That would be 100% dependent on where it's being built.
One suggestion: Design: put that washer/dryer up on pedestals, no seniors want to bend over that far for the laundry, make them loadable at arm height. Spend the extra money for the pedestals that go with the washer/dryer front loaders!!! Otherwise, a beautiful design. I would want front porch screened - too many bugs in this world.
If ads like this weren't so long and drawn out I'd be up for learn what the pineal gland can do.
Can Floorplan/interior be worked with Americans With Disabilities Act specs?
The island for eating is too high for seniors, no high chairs.
A normal height table and chairs.
Is the thermostat opposite the door
😍👍
Is the rumpled "area rug" in the screened porch supposed to add cinema verité to this CGImagery? 😊
I need this house for my brother
Love it
Once again, the designers believe that people don’t want furnaces or hot water tanks in their homes. Many you can place a tankless water heater somewhere, but where’s the furnace?
Throw in a detached two car garage and I’ll take it!
As senior citizens (78), my wife & I have nearly the same size house as this one, i.e. 40' X 26', but also have
a full basement plus my garage is a finished 10' X 22' den! I noticed that this house had only a "great room",
with no place for a t.v., except atop the fireplace! Also, the enclosed porch could only be used for part of the year!
Unless this home was built in an all year, warmer climate, I think that it could seem very cramped, very fast! PASS!
Water heater, Furnace closet??
No dishwasher?!?!
I would only sit in the screened area so no furniture out front
t
Pretty, but no bathtub makes it not a perfect house for me. But close!
Price, Color changes, Size of Areas, Enlargement of Patio, possible? Location? In a Community or on your Lot?
This is AI. Not real, just a lovely design.
Retirement? No grab bars anywhere, especially in the bath, no wide door openings, hallways too narrow, plan for these!
Where is this?
No tub. No deal.
No dishwasher?
Heh-heh, looks like it's going to be pelted by golf balls in 5, 4, 3...
How to get plan
Looks lovely but I absolutely do not like the side (with two chairs) of the front porch. I think that would be an easy place for someone to hide waiting for you to come out of the house. Call me paranoid ...
Maybe take the window out of the bathroom that looks out to the side porch and put it in the hallway. That would be a waste of a window in a bathroom anyway it would have to be covered. I know this is just computer generated and it's really pretty cool.
Where is the utility room?
👍👍👍
That's the point. Get rid of the junk so your kids don't have to do it!
WHAT PRICE THIS IS ?
Beautiful little house, agreed. BUT... I'm looking at those doors and windows and thinking 'SECURITY RISK'.
It would be really nice if we could all be pollyanna and live in a fantasy world where nothing bad ever happens to people in such pretty little houses... BUT WE CAN'T. The statistics on seniors INJURED OR KILLED in their own homes is shocking.
SENIORS ARE DESIGNATED TARGETS for criminals --- whether it's the guy next door that needs money for his next pot buy or pills, the grandson of the neighbor who thinks 'oh, that old guy must have some $$$ money stashed for his grandkids', or the landscaper who knows that the old lady whose grass he cuts often forgets to lock the back door during the day (and who tells a buddy who wants an easy 'rob job').
We need homes designed for seniors that local idjits can't: 1 - just kick in the door, 2 - break the glass on the doors or sidelights to reach in to unlock the doors, or 3 - jimmy the lower windows or sliding doors.
And NO, just adding a video doorbell isn't a real 'FIX'.
Think harder. Design better, safer. Thank you.
These kinds of features can definitely help make retirement a bit easier. I retired two years ago with $470k, and while inflation has made it challenging to maintain the same lifestyle, relocating to the countryside has helped to manage expenses better. It's been easier to stretch my savings and hopefully, I won't outlive it.
I’m nearing retirement myself, and I had similar concerns. I started investing later than most, and just relying on ETF compounding wasn’t cutting it for me. After working with a financial advisor, I managed to restructure my investments and am now on track to retire with around $5 million. If I hadn’t sought advice, I doubt I’d be as confident in my plan right now.
I’m trying to figure out the best approach for my retirement portfolio. How did you find your advisor? I feel like I need that kind of guidance
I usually steer clear of recommending specific people because financial needs are so personal. But I can say that working with Emily Ava Milligan has made a world of difference for me. I noticed her strategies are tailored to fit personal goals and make sense for different needs. It might be worth exploring to see if her approach resonates with you.
Thanks for that. I did a quick search and found her page. I was able to email so I sent over a few questions to get more info. Appreciate you sharing
That front porch and screened in lanai really give you a beautiful place to sit and enjoy your home!
Unless you live in the deep south like me. We have mosquitos the size of fighter planes, and an 8-month summer of 90° or higher (it is 102 today). I can do without the fancy porches, but would love to see a house like this with at least a carport!
This little house is very spacious. I love the concept. Perfect size for a retirement home.
Agree, never enough storage. Some of us still read books, sew, do crafts, have pets & grand children....
Surely that kitchen counter top lifts up mechanically (a push of a pedal or simply a button), with ample storage inside. Again, various sections can mechanically lift up to a suitable height.
Hmmm, then maybe this home wasn't built for YOU? ugh, ya'll make no sense.
Remember this home may be perfect for others.
This has to be one of my favorite designs for a small home, ever. Small tweaks, it would be perfect. Though I no longer own lake property, this would have been ideal on my former little plot. A wonderful home to retire to.
The entry is quite spacious, though the living room is a bit snug. The kitchen is also rather small, though there is a pantry closet off the living room. The laundry room is logically near the bedrooms! However, the lack of a second toilet would be a deal-breaker for me.
Agreed, the kitchen is too small-and depressing. Too little counter space.
The screen room sold me!!
Beautiful house. A tweak here or there for personal preference but beautiful ❤
@@paulderyck2573 Elderly people cook a lot less as the years go by. No need to waste space on a large kitchen.
I like the general layout. I think the sectional sofa set shrank the living room area. Perhaps different and slightly less seating would give it a larger feel. I like the island/dining idea, except that pub height chairs are uncomfortable and sometimes painful. If you were confined to a wheel chair, it wouldn’t work at all. But as was mentioned, a little tweaking could fix all that.
While I really like the design and layout, I wanted to mention how much I like the pace of this video . I feel like I'm slowly walking through the house and the overhead shot at the end was a nice touch!! Most videos go too fast or too slow and the music is often too loud . This is a totally Goldilocks video!!
Folks: this is a lovely computer generated (AI) design rendition. It is for inspiration and for the creative enjoyment of the person who made this video. It's not a real house. They can't quote you a price. 😊 Show this to your architect.
So I gather that no one has done the actual structural engineering to develop a plan that would work? Is anybody working on that?
I live in an 1100 square-foot house, and this house has, in many ways, more storage than my house.
They could have fixed the ripple in the carpet in the 3-season porch then.
How much?
Someone built this on you tube
You got me with the screened in back porch.
There is never enough storage in any of these designs. They all must be located in one season climates bc no room for clothes for more. No pantries for food. No coat closets, no dedicated space for cleaning supplies, linens....
There are 2 cabinets for coats - in the beginning, it's sort of a mud room area.
And bear in mind, that as you age, you require less and less "stuff."
@@fiddlersthree8463 Hahhhahahaha It just means they DON'T COOK! and they live one climate. No Books, no photos - pretty boring people.
@@JMAM006 You will be elderly someday, grasshopper, and then you'll understand.
@@fiddlersthree8463 I'm 74. When?
I thought at first that this was real, until I noticed there was not a single electrical outlet in the whole house. AI?
Of course. You can see that this isn't real in the first 5 seconds.
@@fiddlersthree8463omg you’re right.. it’s painfully obvious 😂🤦🏻♀️
I know this is AI but how could they and why would they show that area rug all bunched up? Perfect.
Putting the bathroom in front with a window so anyone walking up the front of the house or someone sitting on the front porch can see you or listen to you going to the can. Put a bedroom where the bath is. They just don't think.
Frank lloyd wright flavor - mid century modern has always been my favorite. I would change only one thing - no tv in bedroom:) I especially love the front facade with stone and wood; great colors too.
Well, since when you buy a house or even have one built, the furniture doesn’t come with it. So I think the tv is up to you. There are many more issues for retired, elderly. Disabled, etc folks here in the design. It makes me sad that all these young people aren’t thinking.
I'd add a dishwasher 😊
It needs another bathroom and the laundry needs to be against an exterior wall in order to vent.
No it doesn't - you can go up to the roof. Mine is in the middle and I have a vent on the roof.
????? Of course you can vent a dryer in the middle of a house. That reminds me of my friend who said you couldn't have the drain for a shower in the middle of the shower enclosure because the water won't go down unless the drain is placed at either end.
They make laundry units that go in walk in closets with no need to vent. Spendy, but doable.
@@sandraleigh4023 My thought exactly.
@@sandraleigh4023 How do you clean out your vent? My dryer vents to an outside wall, but the vent is long because it has to extend under the master bedroom floor to reach that wall. Lint builds up in the vent even though I clean the lint screen before drying each load of clothes. A few times per year, I go outside and clean out the vent with a long brush tool, which is annoying.
I love the laundry room, the natural light from roofline windows, and the final overhead view of the layout. I’d add a compact dishwasher in the kitchen. Nice job!❤
Drawer style dishwasher could be incorporated behind cabinetry.
Get rid of the shower doors
2 bathrooms are a must and it would be nice to have a soaking tub in one of them.
A must for retirees
A bench in the shower is a must for us elderly folks. The days of standing on one foot to wash the other or to scrub callouses are definitely gone. In fact, we should all have benches in our showers at any age. Safe and convenient. And a bathtub is an elderly person's worst nightmare.
@@fiddlersthree8463 how about a walk-in tub?
agree on both
@@fiddlersthree8463 Absolutely agreed!!! Well said. At 71yrs I'm now battling to get out of the bath. That truly is my worst nightmare. I have to leave my security gate unlocked, so that if I can't manage, I can call my neighbours to assist me.
So many people here complaining that it lacks this and lacks that and so on. It's a perfect starting point from which you may generate your own design incorporating your own ideas, stop whinging and use your imagination.
Yes, like lose the stupid fireplace so you can put a tv there. As the builders might be aware, old people spend 90% of their waking hours watching tv.
What imagination? The younger generations don't know how to use their imagination thanks to the internet.
Living room and kitchen don’t feel big enough. Need a second bathroom.
This is not a family house. It is ideal for an elderly person or two.
@@fiddlersthree8463 thus the title “The perfect one story retirement house”.
Make the kitchen wall flush with the bedroom walls and try to carve out a better eating area. As a retiree who lives in a country with long winters, I need a normal height dining table inside. Island height seating is so annoying and uncomfortable. I was prepared to lose that 3 Feet of sunroom, but you can still just push it out a further 3 feet.
Build a vertical book shelf and get rid of the horizontal one behind the couch. That may give more floor space to play with.
Thank you for your feedback.❤️
I see so many areas where storage could be added as well as dual purpose furniture. I’d probably make some mods to the entryway and bathroom shower for senior living. And of course, an office/craft room in one of the BR’s. Such a beautiful little home! Thanks for posting it!
Agreed! See how Gemmer Wheeler Architect (UK) makes use of the tiniest spaces.
Would love it more if it had 2 bathrooms or a bathroom and another toilet room. And where the kitchen meets up to the living area, kitchen cabinets there instead of a regular cabinet. It would be perfect!! Lovely small house.
Too many halls equals wasted space.
Love this, especially sun porch. But need master w bathroom.
It would make for a great guest house…😊
I'll be your permanent guest! 🙏😁😍
I would definitely want a second bath. Loved everything else. Good storage.
I absolutely love this house. Very Frank Lloyd Wright.
Love this house. I’d change a few things, but personal basic preference with windows and additional cabinets in kitchen.
In a retirement home doorways should be wheelchair accessible. The closet locations were close to the doors making entering awkward for anyone with mobility issues.
Where is the furnace, water heater and ac?
This is a computer generated (AI) concept home. Those little tidbits would be figured out when you show this to your architect to draw up a set of plans.
I love how you integrated the island with a dining space! Smart design
When designing a space for retirees, keep in mind that not all older folks can sit comfortably at a counter height stool. I would change this island to a table.
@@brigittemoore2027 Good POINT and alternative idea!!!
Nice display of textures and neutral, calm tones
I look at this as what it’s designed for: retirement. As in, less cooking and cleaning, more lounging around. Less visitors, so no need for a guest bath. So, small kitchen, bigger porch. I’m nearing seventy, and I don’t cook as much, but I do lounge around more. This house is fine as a retirement home.
Agreed. Lounging is my main occupation now at the age of 77, even though I do walk outdoors a lot. I have a spare bathroom, and it sits idle. The water has been turned off to the toilet for months. A complete waste of space.
I think this is a nice design. I am busier now in retirement than I ever was in my work life! I volunteer even more, and want to be more available to my community. A guest room is a must, since so many young grands can’t afford a home and often need a place to land after college. I also have friends who are mobile and can visit. Cooking isn’t my thing, but I like having a decent kitchen when company comes. In fact, I am entertaining more now that the pandemic has passed. I expect that to increase. The aesthetic is reminiscent of the 70’s California ranches. ❤
Why don’t u have visitors?
Ur family??
I want to have lots of visitors when I’m older!
Agreed, although I would like to see it done just a little more wheelchair friendly for those who need it: wider doorways, and lower seating at the table.
Thank you for this inspiration. Perfection in my mind.
Can you provide a dimensional layout of home...it would be helpful to se room sizes...great job.😊
I love it ❤ Nice dream 💭 💤💤💤
Magnifique maison !!! J'adore 💕 beaucoup !!!💚💚💚💚
