Great video with lots of detailed information. I'm new to using candy melts for decorating so this helps.I have several questions for you. I'm going to make Halloween themed cake pops so I was thinking of melting white candy melts then adding color to it to make a red color and another one for Yellow. In the video you mentioned it's better to use fat based extracts versus water based extracts so that it doesn't hardened up. Is food coloring the same thing as extracts that you are referring to in the video? If so, unfortunately mine is the water base and I don't have the time to get the Candy melts EZ thin so after adding the food coloring to the melted white candy melts then should I add just a little vegetable shortening to it so it doesn't harden? If so, how much should I add? What brand do you recommend for the fat based extracts to add color to the candy melts? Another question is how long do you wait for the melted candy melts to cool before adding it to the piping bag so the bag isn't too hot to handle and the consistency is still good for piping? Thanks ting.
Hi, I have read your comments answering whether candy melts are halal and I was wondering is it cow milk that is used and also what do you mean by halal animal? Thank you
Hey nice video, can we use candy melts in white chocolate ganache for fondant cake covering...?if not then which white chocolate to be used for ganache
I just started making chocolates using molds. I bought the warmer after you showed how easy it makes cleanup! Then I bought the two sided insert. Yaay! I have an old Wilton chocolate rose mold. The roses have green leaves on them. How do I do that? I made an all pink rose, with pink leaves because I filled out the whole mold. The roses would look so much better with green leaves. I don’t know how to make a two color rose.
I have a question why did she put the the easy thin in the blue chocolate that wasn't even clumpy????...wasn't she supposed to put the easy thin in the muddy texture one?
This is Pam--I plan on making a huge number of chocolate spheres for a 3 tiered cake using your candy melts. My question is once the spheres are made and removed from moulds do I need to refrigerate them or can they be stored at room temperature?? I need to make weeks in advance due to the amount of work I have to get done. Many thanks!
Hi! Sorry I'm just seeing your comment now - we used Color Mist on those finished cake pops! www.wilton.com/color-mist-food-color-spray/pg_color-mist.html?dwvar_pg__color-mist_color=Silver -Desiree
Hello can you show us how to color white candy melt and how to know if the color is pil based and which ones are the right ones to use to color candy melts thank you
I saw in the Wilton photo what appears to be a candy melt pot separator. This is used for two different colors of melts. I would like to do this for cake pops. What is that white separator in the pot? Thank you.
+Meredith Hagan If you're using the microwave method, make sure your power level is adjusted to 50%. If it is too high, the Candy Melts will not melt correctly. -Desiree
Desiree, you are a pleasure to watch and listen to! You got right to the point and covered so much info! I have so little patience for videos which are underprepared, and then overexplanatory. #js
Hi Oscar. To color our Candy Melts, you must use an oil-based, NOT water-based, coloring such as our Candy Colors (www.wilton.com/primary-candy-colors-set/1913-1299.html) or the Candy Melts will seize.
I haven't used candy melts yet but would love to.I was wondering if my wilton gel colours are suitable to colour the white candy melts with and do I need to add a thinning product to the melts.
+Nadia Healy Hello, we have candy colors that were created for Candy Melts, here's the link: bit.ly/1neJSub. You don't need EZ Thins all the time, just when you feel you do'nt have the right consistency for your candy melts.
Can you use candy melts as a top coat for making homemade klondike bars? As an example, dipping it in for making a hard shell and leaving it set to harden in the freezer overnight.
I don’t have the heating pot or bags, can I just melt them in a Pyrex jug in the microwave. I’m in the UK and am not sure what vegetable shortening is? Could you just use some olive oil or vegetable oil to thin in and if so how much? Does adding oil give it a shinier texture? Thanks in advance @wilton
Thanks for clarification..... I used to see them ,whenever I go to the caking stuff stores, without knowing what they are..... now I do..... Who knows, maybe next time I would get some..... specially the ones containing cocoa....

Hi Desiree! Please make a video about "How to Achieve certain colors perfectly using Wilton Candy Melts" i have been trying to search for an answer or an instructional video to this question but I couldn't find any... 😞 i know we'll have to mix and add colors using colored candy melts? But living in Hawaii, it's not everyday that Walmart has all colors available... :-( i was wondering if there is an alternative way like powder coloring maybe? I've tried using gel type and liquid type, they harden and curdle the candy melts and its no longer usable... :( please help! Thank you!!!! 😊😊😊
I never knew what I was going to get with these Wilton candy melts. They are always so difficult to melt even if you followed the instructions. Now I use Merkens chocolate or Guittard and I’m never going back to candy melts.

I'm not sure why my chocolate is melting after I use it to cover some caramel. You mentioned it didn't need to be tempered but when I temper my other chocolate, it is harder and doesn't melt. It stays firm. Is there a reason my wilton candy melts are not staying firm? Making sail boats for a cake. Thank you

+thalia mercedez she did put it in the muddy one it's a trick of the video editing that makes it appear otherwise
