I’ve said this for years, giving yourself a hard rule of no rated R puts yourself in a box. Some stuff simply needs to be rated R. Blade Deadpool MidnightSuns

@@infinitevos Same, he's one of those actors where even if the movie he's in isn't great he's always great in it.
I truly think they literally just put Blade on the back burner until they got a sense of how Deadpool and Wolverine is received. This most likely has more to do with Disney+ looking at their hand first before playing their cards. If D&W is the success we think it’ll be, this opens the door for way more Rated R mcu movies.
Last time a new Blade was announced people rejected him saying only Wesley can and should play Blade. I think thats why Ali was announced so soon so that people would get used to him being Blade

The blade from the tv show is in the movie and it is rumor that Wesley Snipes's Blade is also in the film.
They probably realized that it is at this point very hard to do a vampire movie that isn't rated R. Vampire movies that would be a pg in the 1970s would be an R now because of the current crop of ratings people. Kevin Smith purposely directed a PG-13 movie and got an R recently.
Someone should ask John Campea to name a good PG-13 vampire film...Guarantee he couldn't 😂

Ok did you forget they were being pressured to announce and complete projects when Chapek was in charge? Maybe Fiege has been protecting the project by not just throwing it out there. I mean look at what we got the last few years from Marvel 🤦🏾♂️
I wish they would do what DC is doing, DC elseworlds. Make a Marvel Knights series connected, Blade, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider and Punisher. All R rated and hardcore
After watching Black Dynamite, Scott Sanders should write and direct it. Why not have the film be a 70s blaxploitation film in the style of Kill Bill? I’d want Quentin Tarantino to direct, but he’s decided to retire after his next film.

Could part of the struggle with the script have to do with trying to make it work as a PG-13? Yes, not an excuse for announcing a film before you have it ready to go (or even started developing really), but could trying to play within those restrictions been part of the problem?

Sounds like NOT wanting to go the R-rated route was the roadblock. That should have never been a roadblock in the first place. This is another example of Fiege’s decision making post End Game being suspect. It has been painfully obvious the inconsistency of quality across the whole of the MCU and now this, reflects him not at the top of his game. Could be a time he needs to step back a bit from his creations and take stock.
Sure, not wanting to go R rated route was probably a roadblock but that is NOT an indicator of a decline in quality. Sorry, but pre-Endgame Marvel was also hit or miss. For every Winter Solider there was an Iron Man 2 for every Civil War there was an Age of Ultron, for every Guardians of the Galaxy there was Guardian of the Galaxy vol. 2.
@@thehacker4012actually, MCU was not consistently hit or miss pre-2019. Those films you mention are the anomaly’s in what was a very consistent quality base of 23 films. Of the 23 films released 2008 to 2019 the lowest RT score was 67% and the overall average RT score for those films was 85%. Since 2020, 10 films have been released, 4 of those are the lowest RT rated of the 33 MCU films released to date and two of them earned the only rotten tomato ratings in the MCU. The average RT rating has dropped down to 72%. Those numbers are a very clear indication that after 2019, the quality of films has consistently been suspect.
@@llcruize Yeah, no. You can't simply go by the percentage. You actually have to look at the average critical score. If we going to get specific that top critics rating for Thor: The Dark World received 54% rating from top critics, so you can make the argument that film did receive a rotten score.
Also, based on the average critical score, the rating is not that different.
Furthermore, if we are only going by percentage than most of the Disney+ Marvel shows were very well-received.
You can't honestly claim that there have been significant drop in quality if you are looking at RT ratings honestly.
Mahershala is too old for this role. That's what gets me more than anything else

Hopefully announced at the weekend. Praying we have Mahershala still attached to this! My most anticipated movie! I actually think having Wesley Snipes as Whistler would be a cool move and nod to the heritage of this character.
I already know its rated R, I want Mahershala Ail as Blade however if he walks out then it's a big lost, there been rumors that Wesley Snipes will return as Blade, hey im l will be happy because if hugh Jackman back as wolverine in the MCU, hey why not Wesley Snipes. That would be my vote. Bring back Guillermo del Toro as a director.

Blade is turning into Spawn with how many delays and non news stories that have come out. I'd say keep it low budget and R rated with some style, and sadly get a new actor.

Ultimately I didn’t have a problem with it being PG-13 because regardless of what you may think of them the older ghost rider movies showed that you could do some great PG-13 violence that still looks gruesome, but the fact that it’s gonna just be rated R doesn’t hurt

Think a Blade movie has to be R because although you can do many "horrible things" in PG-13 movies it’s usually without blood, and I’m pretty sure Blade needs LOTS of blood 🩸😅
Took them 5 years to decide the rating of the film. Feige just trying to keep interest going in blade for the next 5 when theyll announce a writer. Director in 10. Release in 20.

I honestly think Kevin Feige was riding way too powerful of a high when that 2019 Comic-Con presentation happened in retrospect. Remember, Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home had all kicked some serious ass at the box office that year, Marvel Studios (hell, Disney in general that year, don't forget the insane box office takes of Aladdin, The Lion King, Toy Story 4, Frozen II, and Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker on top of the Marvel releases), and COVID-19 wasn't something anyone was planning on making 2020 a wash, and remember, that 2019 Comic-Con presentation had a raucous party atmosphere. It was probably easy to make some bad and/or questionable decisions in that kind of context, as Marvel and Disney in general had little to no legitimate competition that year, and no one was planning on COVID-19 blowing 2020 to hell. That would have made even the best and most responsible film Producer a little bit too cocky for his own good.
This great news cause Blade need's to always be Rated R. They just need to get Barry Jenkins or Misha Green direct & or write the movie.

At this point they have 3 options. One just put out what they have and hope it works. Two if a movie is too hard for them make it a Halloween special like werewolf by night or 3 cancel the damn thing. We’ve waited 6-7 years for this it should not have been this hard. It’s a vampire who kills other vampires with a sword it’s the most simplest concept. Yet it’s so hard to get that off the ground.
