Hi! I was the screamer soloist during the show! Finally got around to watching this video after avoiding it for 10 months. I was scared to watch the show because I remembered the ticks I made on this night of championship, and I spent months avoiding any online content because I would feel anxious whenever I would watch a hard part of the show for me. So, thank you for the kind words! I really needed to hear them, because I really did nail that part for 98% of the season. Speaking on the condition of finals week for Boston, as others have said the energy was extremely positive from the hornline side of things, and there was a big push to be good. For me personally, I was struggling really hard mentally, and I was for once getting a huge load of performance anxiety that I had never had to deal with before. I was super thankful for everyone around me. There was almost constant positivity, and it lessened my anxiety knowing that I had the greatest friends in the world to perform next to for 85 days. Thanking you for posting this, this video has finally given me the ability to watch content from this summer, and I am super excited for what this upcoming season brings for the Boston Crusaders, even if I am aged-out! Noah G.
dude you rocked it and had a great season, was so hype when i heard your solos for the first time. im sorry you felt like you had to avoid stuff online but i can assure you, nothing but love from your fellow trumpet community. you are an amazing musician
Your body of work throughout the season speaks for itself. As a soloist/lead, you are part of the 1% that is chosen to be featured so openly, and only insanely talented individuals get that chance. You were one of the centerpieces of one of BAC’s best shows ever (and one of my personal favorites). I, along with many others, am a big fan of your features throughout the performance. You deserve to look back on this season and be more than proud of such an amazing experience! 🤜🤛
Yes sir! Always mad during that salute. The amount of comments I got about people wanting me to smile during it was insane. No reason to smile. I’m getting thrown outta heaven
I remember at the premiere in Detroit, every corps took a long time to set up since it was the first show. The entire time your corps was setting up you were just staring at the crowd with that angry look for like 5 minutes. Awesome stuff man
One of the reasons I think we had issues with timing on the coupè walks was because of the hood on our head. They were relatively rough to put on without them covering your eyes. I practically did my finals run of that section without being able to see basically anything but the ground. Thank y’all for reacting. It was really cool to put on a show that people find really appealing. As for how finals week went, we definitely felt like we were getting a lot better, especially musically. Keep up the great content!
We consistently practiced the coupe walks throughout the entire season, I think it was just a consistency thing that never quite got to where it could of been.
Def not an easy part to master. I envisioned something like what Phantom did in their 2012 impact at the end but the coupe fit much better. Loved the show tho!
Boston ‘22 member here! I had a great run personally for my finals run, and agree with your reaction as far as some of the little things getting away from us. The coupe walk was very heavily emphasized and rehearsed, but as Kenny mentioned, the hoods were very difficult to see through during shows because of the field lights. Doing the coupe walk in rehearsal without our hoods on was much easier, as we can see our neighbors and easily match our step sizes and whatnot. The vibe at Boston during finals week was honestly very positive and I didn’t sense any loss of steam/energy. Small errors in our finals run aside from individuals, I feel like we ended the season strongly and it was an ageout experience I’ll never forget. Thank you guys for reacting to our show, and keep up the great content!
Just now getting to watching this and it gave me some really interesting things to think about for my ageout this coming season. I think what put a ceiling on us the most this season was consistency: no matter how much we repped something in rehearsal, we couldn't guarantee 100% it would show up in our runs as much as we would like. I think some of that was just how young the hornline was (many, probably the majority, were in their first year of drum corps), but I also think some of it was not being stringent enough as a membership about cultivating that consistency in rehearsal. I think this also ties in a lot with y'all's discussions of letting the little things slip, where we just weren't consistent enough for every performer to nail every detail every time, which is where the dirt creeps in. Some of the discussions of us potentially being tired were interesting to me as well. We had a very disappointing Allentown run (you do NOT wanna see the company front from that performance) and did not get to perform again until prelims due to weather. This was especially hard because, in all honesty, the corps didn't face any major disappointments performance-wise before that. Such a long period of nothing but rehearsal and travel after a disappointing performance was pretty tough on morale for the corps, and that combined with some members seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and losing focus led us to not improve NEARLY as much as we could have in our last week. Overall, areas of improvement I want to focus on for next season on an ensemble level would be cultivating a culture of consistency in rehearsal as well as fighting to continue to improve despite setbacks (which also ties into creating community support and pushing the membership in a positive direction as a leadership team). Still tremendously proud of the work we did and the performances we've put on, I just know there's even higher for us to go. Really thoughtful stuff, y'all, and I appreciate all of the positive feedback on top of any criticism levied. Hope to see y'all in Quincy again ;)
Honestly, i agree with just about everything you guys said with the show, and i can see wh they didnt get first, even though it was truly a kickass show. It was mostly the smaller thing that gort them in my opinion. But overall? Hella cool show, and a serious milestone, so hats off too boston they KILLED it
Boston is going to be nuts in 2023. They're gonna have vets, they're gonna have a lot of good recruitment because of their '22 season, and they're gonna be on fire because they didn't win. Just another corps that's gonna up their game next season and I can't wait to see it
This was by far my favorite show this year but it wasn’t because of their amazing music or the design, just simply because Boston was slept on for many years and finally landed top 3. Back in 2017, when they came out with wicked games at the start of the season, I immediately knew they would be a top 5 contender in the next 5 years, to see them in top 3 adds icing to the cake. It’s just amazing to see how fast they have progressed since I marched with them in 2014
I was hoping y’all would watch prelims since it was definitely our best run by far but bummer. I feel like we were a little all over the place the day of finals. People doing different things for finals ect. Some silly mistakes for sure. And the trumpet soloist definitely had the worst run of the season finals night. He was dieing all day don’t know what happened. We repped the coupe a lot last week and a halfi-ish. We also had just added the hoods around the same time so I think people were distracted by them(rightfully so it would cover your mouth or not go on completely ect.) Plus I know everyone was thinking about when we got hashed at Allentown and was paranoid about that. I also don’t think everyone was really mentally ready to be in the position we were in but that’s just speculation. Keep doing the content guys and it was cool seeing you guys in the stands in Quincy.
This corps has been performing 🎭at a very high level for 83 years, but this is our best corps in our history and we the alumni of us are very proud of each of you the young people 😀who have worked so hard to make it happen. You are very much loved by me and my fellow crusaders family. Thank you for the best season in our corps history.
EAT EM UP BAC WE DONT GAVAAAAA 11:54 you all left everything on the field that night. To all the performers in the comment and that happen to come by this, this show as a whole is Red and Black through and through as a bias alumni its by far my favorite show at least since I aged out, and if anyone else was performing it, it would not have come together in this fashion. TBC
Being in the stands, I thought BAC's best run was Prelims. Bad run Friday night, better run Saturday night. I'm a brass guy but I couldn't stop watching their guard - they are superhuman.
Fun fact, my bands guard “director” works with bostons guard alot, and based on what ive heard he has alot of say on what flies and what doesnt and i think he also works with Pride of Cincinnati. But yea Bacs guard has been a guard ive always paid alot of attention to in genral, and after watching this, its nice to know im not the only person who loves Bacs guard lol
This show was awesome. It’s just insane that this show was still so underwritten for the corps. They killed it this year. IMO this was the best show this year. I would love to watch what’ll happen if they get the same talent and write the show so they will peak during The last two weeks
Although I didn’t think BAC was going to win the championship starting at about halfway through the season, I did think they were going to be a solid second and the only ones there. I think they only tied because of their ok finals run and Bloo having a great finals run. Either way, very happy for Boston!
You guys talked a bit about cadets in this video. The cadets were actually pretty good this year. A bit heavy on the voice lines to tell the story, but overall very fun
I think you could look at the Finals performance from an experience standpoint. Boston has never placed higher than 5th. They started their ascent back into the Top 5 conversation with the staff shift a few years ago, but still hadn't finished higher than 5th. Being that these performers were achieving this level for the very first time, I think there is merit in chalking their performance up to a lack of experience at that very top echelon. I remember this being the case with the Bluecoats in 2009 as well. This was one of my two favorite shows for the year and I am really looking forward to seeing if they can do even more next year!
Man, Boston was on FIRE this season. If they're able to really clean up those tiny details like the Blue Devils are able to do, they may get Gold next season. Truly a spectacular performance.
For me the colorguard put them above everyone else. I didnt really notice the small details because I was just staring in awe of the colorguard and the crazy stuff they were pulling off. Their three turn ensemble toss had me out of my seat when I saw it in person. No other corps truly maxed out on the visual stimulation like boston crusaders colorguard did IMO.
never noticed those little mistakes until you pointed them out....all those little bits are probably why they had to share the silver medal instead of them taking second and bloo third.
Also, I'd kill for a Music City reaction. 2022 was their highest ever placement and score in their very short history (This is only their 13th year as a corps, and only their 4th season as a world class corps.)
TBH I really didn’t get into this show and it’s weird because it’s a type of show that I would normally like, but it just didn’t do much for me. The music was definitely the best part of the show. IDK it may be one of those shows that in a few months will grow on me, but it didn’t get me excited.
Boston was def my favorite overall show. I do think that they were a lot better before they started making drastic changes, like the hood on the company front. SCV though, IMO had the best music book, but they just couldn't pull it off as cleanly as it demanded.

Really cool reaction. I agree with you guys 100% that the performers outperformed this show. And I have been saying all year too that their was not enough content in the visual design, it was a little bit too simple for me at times.

Can we talk about how the entire guard did a double spin under like.. a 6 or 7 toss? Insane.

The thing about the crusaders uniforms is the white is supposed to be Adam and Eve the black is the snake and the red is the apple pretty cool concept

Y’all should react to the finalists for 2023 rather than just the top 5 it’d be very cool
In my opinion, the overall quality was down this year, including the top ranking corps. Just glad to see them all back and being competitive.

They need to react to the troopers

you guys give great feedback... I just think BD finals score shouldn't have been that close to BAC/Bloos.
I wish they'd stop comparing them to cadets for like one second
Can you guys react to troopers 2022
You should react to Bd 2022 with brandon since he worked with them this year
