It's Stone Sour's First and still my all-time favorite SS album. This album came out sometime after IOWA and Corey was always thr frontman of SS and was with SS B4 Slipknot
If I didn't know this was stone sour I would swear this was slipknot. Perfect song for next nu metal monday is PYCHOSTICK NOEL!!!!!!!! it's a parody of system of a down byob. So technically new metal. Trust me that song will become a staple to your Christmas song list. Even serj would be proud of the parody. 😊
Their self titled album is flawless guys. Listen to the whole thing. Not a bad song in it. The deluxe edition had 19 tracks.
I believe Get Inside was SS’s first music video and it appeared in a couple of video games if I’m not mistaken. And honestly , SS’s genre varies from song to song: you have the heavy hitters like this song, Somebody Stole My Eyes and 30 30 150, to rock ballads like Sadist, Song #3 and Bother to country sounding songs like Zzyzx and St.Marie. That’s why I think SS is not for everybody just like Nu Metal. 😆
Not to mention spoken word tracks like Omega and The Frozen.
Inside the Cynic is another great heavy one!
I may be wrong but Get Inside and Bother were the first two singles we all heard on the radio …??
the whole first album of Stone Sour is great and I cant stop listening to blue study and blotter its so timeless and unique
I believe Stone Sour came before Corey Taylor joined Slipknot. This was from their debut album and it’s considered to be their best album, it’s really raw and it does have slipknot vibes with the aggressiveness in the vocals.
I believe Jim Root joined Stone Sour for their second album and thereafter, but I’m pretty sure I have heard Corey say in interviews that he was in Stone Sour prior to joining Slipknot
Jim was there for the debut onwards, and therefore is in this music video.
Corey was in Stone Sour before Slipknot, but reformed after Iowa. Jim wasnt in the pre Slip lineup.
Great choice on this one guys. Stone Sour has so much range in their sound, they’re definitely qualified for Nu Metal Monday
Stone Sour is fantastic to react to because there’s such a broad range of their music. You have heavy hitters like this & so many others, then the soft ballads, then the mixture of both on some. Great reaction guys!

This was from SS first album that came out a little after Iowa and yeah their first album was a lot heavier than their later albums. But the great thing about SS is they have a huge catalog with songs in nearly every genre you can think of.

I've never heard anyone consider Stone Sour to be NüMetal. The only way they are even remotely anywhere near being NüMetal is the fact that Corey is the singer. I'd say this is more a mix between Groove Metal and Grunge. Which is more what I consider Slipknot too. I never really considered Slipknot NüMetal either. Awesome reaction, though🤘🏼🤌🏼🔥
A wonderful Christmas song to recommend is Corey Taylor's X-M@S, its a traditional song that everyone should listen to every year

STONE SOUR earlier work used to be like this, even some of their later work are like that I'm not saying Slipknot lost it's aura, BUT Stone Sour and Slipknot are in basically at the same level of agressivity sometimes, every since Slipknot changed their sound to more of a melodic heavy one it rly started to sound like stone sour, anyway a song that deserves to be on Nu Metal Monday is MIND BY SYSTEM OF A DOWN! I've been suggesting "MIND" For AGES, PLZ do "MIND" it's 6 minutes long, btw dont forget the STUDIO VERSION OF SUITE PEE!!! plz!!!! Sorry if I sound a little desperate lol
stonesour came before slipknot, they were recording this album before corey was asked to join slipknot and the first stonesour album was finished after the first slipknot album and tour, corey has been running both bands and his solo projects as well as writing from the begining

Stone Sour is early 90s. Jim was in this video! This is 2002. After Slipknot Iowa album. You can find a bunch of old stone sour songs and some of them, actually got remade for this 2002 stone sour album. pS Corey has a Christmas song!.
My son's old band actually opened for Stone Sour, Laconia Coil and Shadows Fall in Omaha, Nebraska
Corey Taylor started Stone Sour in 1992 and joined Slipknot in 1997.
Jim Root (Slipknot) were a member in 1996-1997 and again from 2001-2014. Stone Sour took a break from 1997-2000.

Definitely nu metal. They have 6-7 songs that are very much in the nu metal category but Get Inside is the best of them.
Not *ENTIRELY* sure if it counts as Nu Metal, but a great Christmas themed Metal song is 'Valhallelujia' by Nanowar of Steel.

This might be long, but it's a fun story (IMO). I was seeing a band a a couple years ago and one of the opening acts was called LIFE Project. Never heard of them, no clue who they were. But what was interesting is that the guitarist looked familiar, but I couldn't place him. I also thought Billy Howerdel for a moment but quickly dismissed it, as I knew he had APC and another band (or two). "Is that, actually... Josh Rand?" Sure as shit, it was. And that is the guitarist you're looking at. He's amazing, and it was so exciting to see him completely unexpected like that.
Also, I just found your channel because I was watching a react video for Slipknot and got bored by it, then thought about Stone Sour, then about this song, wondering how many react videos there are of it, and you just reacted to it a few weeks ago. You guys are fun. Hope you enjoy the heavy aspects of Stone Sour.
This was from Stone Sours first album and this was the debut song released. My favourite SS song and that first album was 🔥 as well. Jim was the guitarist doing the 'backing vocals' Wasn't a fan of the later SS stuff.

You can hear what's left of his Iowa voice. This song/album was the transition from his Iowa voice to his Volume 3 voice.
This album was released to the mainstream after Iowa, but with the exception of Bother, this entire album was originally independently produced around a year or so before Corey joined Slipknot, it was actually at a show at the Safari Club where Stone Sour was listed to open for the original Slipknot line up, but due to Corey getting caught up waiting for his replacement to show up to the porn shop he worked at they ended up playing after Slipknot, that Corey was first approached by Shawn, Paul and Joey about joining the band, but Corey was a bit too drunk to talk so they set up a meeting for later instead, it was the material off this album that brought that about. At this show Corey beat the shit out of one of Slipknot's stage monitor speaker cabinets with one of Slipknot's mic stands during the performance of Tumult, bending the mic stand and putting some nice round dents in the cabinet
recommended tracks from this album - Orchids, Blotter. Monolith, Idle Hands, and Tumult, you can find all the elements Corey brought to Slipknot within these few tracks
The live version from Rock Am Ring 2003 is something. Go check that version out, you'll be impressed by all their works.
fun fact: the forming of stone sour predates the forming of slipknot by 2 years. Stone sour formed in 1992 and slipknot formed in 1994

You must to check out Stone Sour 1994 demo. Back in a day Corey says: I sounded like I had zero nuts and had been inhaling helium for years. ESPECIALLY i recommended track "I Can't Believe"

I knew this kid from high school and he got a CD that had a two singles from this album including this one. He was so excited about it. It also had Bother on it but when he got the full album he was disappointed cuz it didn't sound like it because it didn't sound enough like Slipknot like get inside did

I never really thought of Stone Sour as Nu Metal. But I guess they have some elements of it.
Another band I never thought of as Nu Metal was Chimaira since most of their catalog is New Wave of American Heavy Metal. But their first album is definitely Nu Metal. Please react to SP Lit (official video) or Dead Inside (live from Farmclub or from Coming Alive)
