It's pretty simple. In a vacuum, WOW is more complicated and harder. But League has way more competition and climbing to the top is harder
I agree, another aspect of league is that there isn't muscle memory for the most part, every fight is different at least in terms of the very micro aspects. For example how good a players clicks are in a top lane match up drastically changes how a fight will go because of things like spacing. I actually think spacing is 1 of the things that would gate keep most wow players from hitting the upper echelons of league.
This is wrong, league is harder than wow, there is no vacum. It's more complex by far. The combat in league does not involve using as many abilities, but the game requires more skill to master overall. Wow is a hard game to master, but not as hard as league
@garagavia see your wrong because it's pvp. The mastery is high because of the maturity amount of competition due to it's player count. I played League Season 1. The game evolved due to the number of players and competition. It was an easy game back then and it's fundamentally the same game today

I think t1's guess of pika getting to diamond in one year is good. We saw grubby go hard in dota2 for a year, getting coaching and benefitting from wc3 and dota's similarities. Grubby got to low Immortal rank, which is the same as diamond in terms of percentile of ranked players.

The only thing I would say Xar is underestimating is your teammates in a Moba. Especially that Moba.

League is more competitive, wow is harder. There is a huge difference.

I think competing in the top, say, 5-10% of Wow arena players is actually more complex, harder to learn.
For the most part, there are more things to optimize and execute perfectly in League though. More skill expression in total.
Really, Tyler's just getting baited by how comparatively simplistic Classic is. Send him in the arena with Pika on retail, he'll learn and climb fast, but he'll also realize just how many factors there are to consider at all times.

I think a huge difference between league and wow is league requires much more aiming and mouse accuracy while WoW requires more intense keybinds/button presses
I think you're forgetting that you're at all times using the mouse for movement/camera management in WoW while using those keybinds/button presses.
@ you really don’t do too much with the mouse unless you’re trying to keep a cast in line of sight on someone running in circles around you. In league you’re panning the camera constantly
also the 6 button comment isn't that far fetched, as it refers to combat-relevant-buttons only.

Classic WoW PvP vs Retail PvP is like playing Coop Game in League vs high Ranked League ---> Retail PvP is so much harder get into, not even close but playing at the peak top top R10 ladder games leauge might be harder, because it has the younger and better gamers. Also those two are very different games... WoW is like playing a Teamfight in League for 15 mins... not many ppl can comprehand that and stay focused enough to not make a mistake or take advantage of enemy mistakes... its just physicly so much harder than lol

WoW however, there's too many mechanics, specialization and talent builds involved, along with a rotation that consists of more than 5 attacks.
TLDR WoW at top tier PvP is harder.
@@QuentinHast77 With WoW PvP is you are so dependent on your teammates and then on top of that classes are always getting nerfed and buffed. It's not like you can just play one class every season and push rank 1. I know some rank 1 players and they have problems finding consistent teammates to push with. For a new player like Tyler he could probably play a DH and get a high rating getting coached and carried by better players. Then there is the Solo BG or Solo Arena, he could probably do okay in those. No way he pushes top rating as a range, healer or stealth class in 3s arena, not in a year or less.

RTS games like SC2 have really crazy mechanical barriers i feel accompanied by the strategy and timings probably the hardest type of game overall
it also plays a huge role, whether they're being taught - not carried - but taught. if wow pvp is being explained to u, it's easier to get into than league, same as climbing in league is easier with a coach to understand gamestates and correct choices to be made.
if you go into either blind and learn from just playing, league is probably easier to get started with, as u get absolutely farmed in wow pvp, but both are horrendous to learn and climb without any guidance/advice.

T1 players retail arena. Xaryu does LoL. One month chall. Person highest wins. Set up an equivalency board. Like diamond in lol is equal to glad and break it down into ranks/mmr and see who wins
if u dont factor in PVP, league is easily harder. if u take PVP into consideration, both have their nuances, but league might be harder.
then again, dota2 is also harder than league and less friendly for beginners, but still more fun, once u got into it. same as WoW PVP (in wotlk and cata terms at least) is more fun than either of the mobas imo.
so league is not the hardest, yet the least fun, whether u're comparing within mobas or across genres xD
looking back, i wish i didn't sink 5 years into that and knew to just go start learning dota.
edit: oh and league, besides being the least fun of these games, is by far the worst from a visual point of view.
clearly not just in terms of HD textures, etc. as older wow expansions dont keep up in that regard either, but they have their visual charm, unlike league which, no matter what patch, always looked off and goofy. xqc wasn't wrong when he said league "lacks soul" compared to dota.

grubby hit immortal in dota in ~ 1 year, league aint as hard as dota, so yeah, he definitely could. Granted, grubby did have camera movements and natural ability at the top-down style, but pika is a gamer.

Honestly, it's hard to compare since the challenges in both games are different. If you put a LoL Challenger into WoW and then a WoW 3v3 Rank 1 into LoL, I can't predict which one would achieve the equivalent rank first. But based on my own experience, WoW feels more difficult.
I've played both at a Gold rank level, tho, long ago. WOW is harder, by a lot.
Can't say as I have never played this game League of Legends probably because the title sounds like something a Disney studio would name.
Having played league since 09, and wow since 06...I can say for certain that league of legends is a harder game to gain rank on, than world of warcraft.
A super casual player can easily grind to 1800-1900 in 2s with a friend, if they put in the time to grind. If those people were equally as good at league, and put in the SAME amount of time, they would not get anywhere near the ELO they would in WoW.
If a player is good at wow, they might be good at other games. If a player is good at league, they will definitely be good at every single other game that exists.
Biggest take away from this video... Baby sleeping in his own room 7-7 from 6 months old.... Xaryu is a lucky MFer. I am so jealous.... 3 kids and they were all horrible sleeper.

WoW arena is a deeper/taller game, LoL is a wider game. Overall the total complexity of League and the variables that go into it make the game harder to learn, because you have to sort through more bull shit to find the missing pieces to level up your game. Not to mention the feedback isn't immediate like in WoW. You mess up in WoW arena, you will know immediately (or within the span of a cooldown timer). League, you can go 45+ minutes and not realize you backing instead of dragoning at minute 6 lost you the game.
I'm sorry but as someone who has played both wow and league, league is way harder. The knowledge required for both is really really high but in league if any one of your teammates messes up, or learned something incorrectly your game will eventually become unwinnable and there are two extra people that have the opportunity to mess up in league.
I played high rank arenas and high rank league. Arenas have way too much shit to focus on. If I am not having an extra brilliant day I know that I should not rank. League however is quite easy for most until high level team battles. And you can make those easy if you managed to crush your lane. Arena is just full focus mode continuously until one person fucks up
100%. Go figure that the game with orders of magnitudes more abilities to think about at any given moment and diminishing returns to keep track of is the harder of the two, lol. Arena is PROHIBITIVELY difficult, but League and other similar MOBAs are simple by design to keep some semblance of user-friendliness (as evidenced by its widespread popularity across multiple cultures.)

I think it's pretty obvious that Wow requires more micro skill while League require more game knowledge / macro skill.
League requires more micro and macro skill, but wow has more abilities per character. Overall league is harder but wow is also quite hard
@@garagavia as someone who got glad in WoW and also diamond in early days of LoL s1,s2. I do understand both perspectives and difficulties to a degree. I think for a fresh person to the game for one year, it’s harder to climb in WoW arena compared to league.
Obv each game has their intricacies but it’s physically harder to actually play the game (wow) compared to league. In league you can literally chain queue and find teammates automatically.
In WoW, you have to engage with the god awful LFG system. Find 2 other people that have an idea of what to do, find the right class comp. Find reliable people to play with consistently. Theres so many fukin hoops to jump through for WoW arena compared
I've always said WoW PvP is so unique and definitely harder to be at the very best than most other MMOs and competitive games, You just have to had played the game for awhile to understand why.
That being said it's hard to compare different genres and skillsets, is it harder than the top LoL or something like SC2? Debatable but there are definitely more niche and complicated pvp games out there for sure so it's ok if one is less difficult/complex, The problem with WoW is that it's harder to watch and understand what's going on and that's why it's not as successful as an esport.

the only knowleadge you need for lol is gear composition and positioning. With the right gear comp you can kill 1 v 3 manny champions. At the higher lvl the problem is they wont fight a one v one if they are not ahead or untnumber you!

I've played both casually. Played ranked league till season 6 I think and my highest achieved rank was platinum 1 at the end of season 5. Playing mostly Rengar and kha'zix jungle. I played a lot of Wotlk. A lot. My most played expansion and still playing mostly it. I liked rogue so i tried subtlety. Wasnt having the greatest of success so i tried mutilate rogue. As far as I was concerned I was doing great. Until i tried arena. Never achieved any meaningful rank to get any good pvp gear.
While I do think league has a higher ceiling in the pro scene, as a casual player I must say it is a lot easier to achieve some mediocre rank than it is in wow.

There may be only 39 specs total for WOW but also not everyone has the same talent builds. They could be similar though. If you are starting as an under geared noob then you will have issues there as well. The top rank Arena players have the best gear for PVP. So until Tyler1 can accrue enough currency to buy the best gear, he will also need to place in top rank to get that gear as well. It can be done but he will be at a disadvantage the whole time.
xario is vastly underestimating how hard it is to just right click well enough to play league at a high level. It makes sense that a wow player is only thinking number of buttons to press when they barely touch left and right click. In league you maybe only have 6 keybinds, but the APM much higher than he's expecting.
The fact you think you barely right or left click in WoW just proves you've never done arena. I'm far more active with my mouse in WoW. LoL is just WC3 with only the hero, albeit slightly more complex abilities. Go micro 10 headhunters in WC3 (let alone a full ~60 supply army) and tell me again you need a lot of APM for LoL.

As someone who has played both games for well over 10 years, my lack of insane mechanics is much less punishing in WoW. I can play a Resto Druid at a very high level, but have not made it past Diamond 5 (back in the day) in League and probably won't hit Diamond if I tried now. So for people with experience in both games I'd say League is harder.
BUT, WoW is simply an experience game. My knowledge of the class design in the game translates heavily to my ability to play and excel in WoW PvP. And getting a proper feel for how each class works (played em all at least a bit and fought em all 1000s of times) Takes forever. In League, this is not the case at all. Learning everything you need to excel in League is easier than it is learning all keybinds and abilities of every class and their uses, and it is not even remotely close. I'd say if you have no experience in either, that not only League is easier, but Retail WoW is simply a lost cause. I don't believe anyone who's never played the game now can reach the level of a WoW veteran even in a full year of playing. But I do believe an exceptionally talented player who never played League can get it done in 1 year.
TL;DR: League is harder for players experienced in both, WoW is harder for people inexperienced in both.
Totally wrong, lol. Retail WoW arena is so much more prohibitively difficult than League it isn't even funny. Let the playership numbers speak for themselves, the average WoW player is turned off before achieving 1800 rating (which from an arena players' perspective is quite entry-level.) A one-trick pony could pick up League, play one character for MONTHS, and achieve platinum by only ever experiencing the game from one perspective. There is absolutely no chance a new player could pick up WoW and achieve 1900+ rating in just a few months, even as a one-trick pony. There is simply no chance.
as a dota player, so by definition by having 100 hours there i'm like in top 100 challangers
but those games are so different and getting experience in one will give you easier time learning the other, learning basic human responses is already an advantage in pvp games, LoL will require way more planning and adapting to game state, as for WoW it requires way quicker assessment of danger, like "do you need to interupt it or leave keep interupt ready", in case of dota you need a lot of planning on the fly should you hit the camp, push lane, rat, play solo as distraction or with team, etc. this gameplay is way more dynamic in that sense as you need to keep in your head where enemies were, if they have TPs, buybacks, how long since they were last seen etc... this way you can swing even games where other team has 30-50k gold advantage... and if you look at lower mmr from top perspective (13k+), low mmr immortals (7-9k) aren't that much different from archons/gold(3k) gameplay skills are comparable, one just moves more efficient on the map and is better with building items, both are often quite blind when it comes to map awarness or predicting enemy movement
but damn, i love that baiting and triggering they do, that's a good content instead of some dramas

You say you play resto druid at a high level - what level exactly do you consider high? Please don't tell me 2400 when the R1 cutoff is at 3200. Because your take is literally the opposite of my experience. WoW requires the execution, LoL requires the knowledge.

LoL's main problem from a wow perspective is the movement.
Leagues ladder is solo Q. Arena is 3v3. The biggest gate keeping aspect to arena isn’t even the game, it’s social networking to Q. League doesn’t have this problem

As someone who has been very highly ranked in wow, a moba (dota) and one or two other games, I can pretty confidently say the whole exercise of arguing "what is harder" is quite pointless. Regardless of the particulars of any game, if there is sufficient complexity to in practice offer an infinite skill ceiling (there always is; see go, chess, etc. "simple" games), any top tier performance is essentially almost equivalent given the population is sufficient to offer a decent competitive environment. Wow has(had) 100 buttons to press, league has 5 buttons and 200 heroes and both have the same core principle that you are vs people.
Even if something is simple it can be hard in high competitive enviroment, but this argument isn't about difficulty, it's about if a wow player could hit high levels in league or vice versa, league is much more competitive game, wow pvp has no players to compete and get better, that's it
@@aKindred Wow used to have people though. Regardless, skills acquired in almost any competitive environment are at least somewhat translatable, and we are almost talking about something like doing relay or hurdling vs sprint here in terms of translatable skills..
Wow definitely takes a higher reaction time when talking about high rated 3v3s. Of course there's more to it but that part is undebatable.

But not definitely because there would be no way of knowing unless they actually did it. Their reaction time would not be exercised to the same extent if they just play LoL because WoW takes a higher amount of it to reach that 0.1%.
Let’s be real, WoW PVP is on another level. Here’s the one single reason why. LoL has a ban stage, WoW doesn’t. There you go. In WoW, you roll your comp and adapt. In LoL, the comps are curated thanks to the ban stage.
You literally made an argument against yourself, you can run the same ass composition over and over all the time, you don't have to adapt at all, only care about enemies
League you have to actually learn everything about the game to climb, multiple champions/lanes/builds/matchups
@@aKindred Set lanes goes for my argument. Ban stage goes for my argument. There may be dozens and dozens of champions, but theyre all similar with a basic amount of abilities. Champions counter eachother by design. In WoW, there is no “counter” to anything. Well, except frost mage, they’re OP. But all other classes can be stomped by any other class if one player is even slightly better than the other, and you dont get the option of choosing not to play against frost mage in ban stage.

Played both pvp arena since TBC and League since season 1 with the same kind of fair amount of tryhard, for the same kind of results ~top 0.5%-1% (Glad peak in wow in s8 - D1 Peak in league in S4)
