I would love to hear your thoughts on the differences between Hungarian, Italian, French, English, and even Polish saber systems. What do you admire about other systems and what gaps or weaknesses do you see in different ones?

    2. How are your translations progressing?
    3. How many sabres be it Training weapons, sharps or originals/replicas do you own all together?

That is a mustache any hussar or cossack would be envious of.

I would like to learn more about thumb rings:
    1. Who used them, and why?
    2. Who didn't and why not?
    3. We're they more for mounted combat, or foot combat?
    4. What historical designs could have benefited from them? (I'm thinking the British 1796 LCS, since it had only a knuckle bow and didn't favor the "thumb up" grip as it wasn't good for thrusting).
And most importantly, just how big is that mustache gonna get? ;)

thumb ring was used by polish nobility simply to help with gripping the saber since it was heavy and slashing focused so no thumb ups grip was in play, just a hammer grip

    1) What is your preferred historical manual for sabre?
    2) A messer is just a sabre. Not a question.
    3) Why are officers sabres often straight while infantry/ cavalry are often curved? What function does this serve.
    Thanks for awesome videos!

Serious question: What are the best RUclips hema courses that provide high quality supplemental instruction outside of irl classes? I'm too new to hema to make accurate judgements on who is good or not.
Less serious question: Assuming all the worst possible outcomes come true in regards to climate change and society reverts to say 1800's tech at best with wide areas of early medieval tech levels outside the rich areas, what's your daily carry weapon, what would you equip your community defence force with, and what would the general society's weapons of choice be? Firearms are possible but consider supply chains and munition sourcing difficulties.
Love your work. Thanks for all the good info on your channel!

Hi, do you have any examples from any memoirs of the use of the M1861 & M1862 infantry sabres in combat? Especially some references to the Austrian Legion in Mexico would be interesting.

do feet cross in sabre fencing footwork? In my school (polish saber) the coach teaches us kind of olympic fencing footwork, but I think in polish saber it should be a little different

whats your opinion on mixed weapon sparring? I do a lot of longsword vs sabre for example. I think it's really fun mixing up the weapons because you have to develop strategies for each different weapon pairing. For example against longsword I always try to go in a bind and target the hands.

I’ve recently started to try and train polish szabla but when it comes to sparring I will Not be able to use a szabla with a thumb ring due to limitations in conjunction with sparring gloves.
Is the thumb ring important for authentic techniques or just something we need to sacrifice when sparring ?
Alternatively are there gloves you can use with thumb ring
    Kind regards
PS really enjoy your channel 🙏

Hey Peter, question: you often post a video of you sparring against a club mate. The title always says, red jacket against x. But how come you wear an orange jacket in the video instead 🤔🙃?
