I never finished MUA2 despite multiple attempts because it seemd to lack the heart and soul of MUA1. MUA2 may been a better game from a technical standpoint but, to me, it felt like there was more love that went into the original. Also, one of the things I enjoyed most about MUA1 was all the loot/equipment you could find. I don't recall that in MUA2.
@@ijustbevibin0425 MUA was very light on equipment, just 1 piece per hero. It also helped with your preferred playstyle, for example if you like to sit back and spam your skills you might want equipment that has mana regeneration, or you might prefer to get up close and personal, so more defence and damage.
I think the thing that upset me the most about Ultimate Alliance 2 was that there was only one extra costume for each character. I am a sucker for extra skin and it just really sucked that they dumb that down so far from Ultimate Alliance One, which had amazing alternate skins
I agreed although, to it's defense, the primary outfit for each character were original reinterpretations of known outfits: higher amount of polygons, more detailed and with realistic textures (GG's chainmail, Venom with shark skin, Deadpool's clothing, etc). It definetely was more complex than to make 4 skins (3 for MK & 1 for Silver Surfer) in MUA1.
Raven Software. It lacked Raven Software. (It's kinda funny though that we've got 3 entries into an insanely popular franchise that are all made my different developers.) I'm of the opinion that UA is overrated and UA2 is underrated, but I still think UA is better.
I always liked the first MUA fight style better. Yeah the second one is faster,but the first one had a bit of a gritter feel to their melees. Plus I really loved the boosts on the first.
All five games (from X-Men Legends through Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3) have their ups and downs. I'm just glad this series continues and change a little here and there and I hope it will continue to exist.

I actually preferred the combat mechanics in the original MUA. Playing through Justice League Heroes in late 2017 made me realize how important it is to craft reasons for the player to mix up their fighting style. It also keeps the moment-to-moment action from getting stale.
That is a fair point. A lot of times what I do while I play these games, is catch up on podcast. So I’ll be playing for a good couple hours. My brain is mainly focused on listening to the podcast while I keep my hands busy. So I think my preference on having a super laid back experience might come from that.
I'm not gonna lie I've been watching a crap ton of Ultimate Alliance related content and this is the video that got me the most hype for MUA3. Reliving both of the previous games defo brought back some fond memories that makes me incredibly excited to see the next step in MUA3. Great vid!
I admire the fact that even though you personally enjoyed the RPG elements in Alliance 2 you still gave the win in that category to Alliance 1 by acknowledging the greater depth. Great review!
This is such a great video. I've got to admit, I've never really given MUA 2 enough love - I have to go back and finish that one. Also, good point about the huge bosses in the first game being the most memorable parts of the game. I hope the Sentinels and Sandman in MUA 3 are a sign that they're bringing those big boss fights back.
Thanks Josh! I admit I was a bit underwhelmed with MUA 2 after my first play through. But both of these games are so much more fun when the characters are higher levels. So New Game Plus is a much better experience.
The 1st game was better by a landslide . My 2 most important reasons are #1 , the roster , #2 The Arcade style gameplay that they sadly removed in the 2nd game, and it looks like it won't be returning in #3 .
I love both games, but I honestly enjoyed Ultimate Alliance 2 more. I really liked the story as it felt much more personal, I liked that they used the more obscure/lesser known villains for the story & many of the boss battles as it gave it a nice breath of fresh air from the villains that would normally be used, same goes for the lesser known superheroes that show up throughout the adventure, the graphics and character models were improved upon TEN FOLD, the combat felt better as it was more hard hitting, faster & much smoother, the Fusion attacks were awesome, and the cinematics were better. Vicarious Visions did an awesome job, IMO. I'm looking forward as hell to Ultimate Alliance 3. From what I've seen, Team Ninja is doing a bang-up job.
I disagree when it comes to cutscenes. They are much better in 1. Like its not even a competition. The main gameplay graphics are better in 2 for sure but the cutscenes took a very notable downgrade in 2. You also have many more power choices in 1 instead of being stuck with 4 powers for each character which I personally prefer. I'd rather have more options, even if I have to grind more.
@@Jack_of_Hearts4 You obviously only played the 360/PS3 version because in the Wii/PS2/PSP version the characters have 8 powers each. As far as the cinematics go I thought they were better in part 2.
@@kal-el8402 far from it. Would I rank it the weakest of the 3? Probably, but weakest doesn't mean bad. It's still a very fun game with a FANTASTIC roster (and biggest in the series history) of playable characters. Same type of gameplay but much faster and action oriented than the previous 2 while the RPG mechanics are still present but now they're more stat/percentage based with the absolutely MASSIVE grid based system and ISO-8 stones. I enjoyed the hell out of it, same with the other installments.
I don't currently own a switch but yes I'm looking forward to MUA3. As for my favourite MUA game they both have things that I like. For example I liked the different locations that we were able to go to in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. I also liked X-Tremes Merc's Revenge is one my favourites but so is Cyclops' Optic Incineration. I do understand what your saying about fusions though. And unlike X-Tremes they can be cancelled. I also like the fact that MUA2 did away with the extraction points. Well the PS3 and xbox 360 versions did. They were still present in the ps2 and PSP versions of the game.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 is a masterpiece, Ultimate Alliance 2 is bland as heck, and Ultimate Alliance 3 looks like a perfect amalgamation of the first game’s personality and the second one’s gameplay improvements.
Absolutely correct. Loved X-men Legends 1 & 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1. Didn’t realize MUA 2 was from a different developer when I bought it years ago and pretty much hated it.

Something even i about 11 years ago noticed was that ultimate alliance 1 had better graphics for some odd reason. And that there was much more storyline to it. I beat ua2 but never beat 1 to this day
Ultimate Alliance 1 was more like an action-based Diablo dungeon crawler, and less like a "beat-em up" game. So I guess you just prefer beat-em up games, seeing as you didn't believe that removing abilities, items, team bonuses, etc was a problem.
First: f*ck off, you killed Gwen Stacy lol Second: a lot of the special powers in MUA1 felt like a filler to simply have more. I think X-Men Legends 1 & 2 did it better with more viable options to make your "own" character. Although it would have been cool to have the option of remove spent points more easily, like in MUA2. Every new entry was a downgrade of the last game, although each one ended up improving some details.
I used to love MUA 1. I still do mostly. However, I have played the game so much that I noticed a fatal flaw in single player. Your AI companions never use their powers on their own.
Yea it requires you to switch often and use up stamina bar and different characters. You can run thru normal not doing this but I’m hard mode you gotta play smarter with your team
Lots of great memories with these games. Played the first one in the original Xbox when it first launched and met one of my best online friend who I still keep up with to this day. We played it all the time trying out different teams and running through the harder difficulty mode. We were a bit bummed out when the DLC characters dropped and found out they were locked to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. We even called Activision and tried to convince their customer service reps to add those characters to the OG Xbox version of the characters at the time (we were kids and couldn't afford 360s at the time). Imagine how excited we were to play the 360 versions bundled in with our 360s along with Forza Motorsport 2 a year or so later. It was awesome playing through it again and again. Great times!
Let's be honest the music in the second one is way way better. Anytime I hear the music I get emotional because I remember playing this game nonstop with my brother. Luckily today I bought the combo pack on PS4. And now we are playing it again and we are planning to get platinums in both games.
I'm kinda surprised that you didn't factor roster in your comparisons. I mean, MUA1 would likely have still won with this in mind, but still, it's an important element. I actually preferred X-men Legends and MUA1 having numerous powers as I view it as giving both the characters and the players more personality and expression. Also, it gives you options if one power is not as good. In MUA2 and indeed MUA3, if you're playing a favorite character with a terrible power (like Scarlet Witch in MUA3), you'll either have to deal with less utility or switch to someone else. I think MUA2 had the potential to be better story wise, but it was ultimately never as dark as it presented itself to be and the RE2 type route A and route B playthroughs weren't as detailed as they could have been. All that said, I pretty much agreed with you on everything else. Good comparison video.
I'm disappointed that you couldn't play Spider-Woman in the sequel after she was playable in the first game. On the plus side,I get Carnage and my favorite Anti-Air assist in the sequel.

Not sure these factors were weighted correctly. If the game play is shit then the game can shine in every other way but nobody will want to play it. Game play is THE most important factor in a game not asthetics.
As a kid and as an "adult" i prefer UA2 more. Its so much prettier, more satisfying combat, and I personally feel like the story is great(i must be the only one in history to think this). The 3 acts are all great and tie into each other. Latvaria leads to registration, registration causes nanite creation, which was latvarian technology created originally by the tinkerer. UA 1 is a solid 8.5/10 but to me personally, UA2 is an 8.8/10 im also a nostalgia baby, tho, so keep that in mind before murdering me

UA1's story was better than UA2's, they had the right idea with the Civil War but then they botched it by veering off into The Fold. I think what they should have done instead was reveal that the Civil War was being orchestrated and manipulated by Hydra, it would've stayed relevant to the Civil War while also giving us a big organization of villains to fight like the first game did.
UA1 has the better atmosphere, UI, story, bosses and roster. But, UA2 has gameplay that has aged much better. Some missions in UA1 dragged on or had enemies that forced you to do specific combos and it isn’t as fun to clear a room of enemies as it is in UA2. UA1 is the better overall Marvel Universe experience and UA2 is the better Beat Em Up.

These games were erased from existence, unless you got hard copies, and I heard they made to where not even those work somehow, I dunno, but I did hear that if you even bought them digitally, they became unplayable and thanos snapped
Easily my favorite series. I still play all 3 of them. They all of their strengths. In my opinion 1 had the best abilities and loot/gear system, and most alternate costumes. 2 had the best visually and made you feel the most like the heroes. You could send a group of henchman flying with ability moves and special/fusion moves will clear an entire room or take down a huge chunk of a bosses health bar. 3 has the best roster (in my opinion) you have a little bit of everything guardians, xmen,ff, avengers, street heroes,supernatural heroes, and villains. I’ve easily played these games more than any other in my life. Mostly 1 and 2 because it took so long for 3 to come out. To me the weakness are in number 1 the heroes don’t feel as powerful as they should. You can do extreme moves in a room full of goons and not kill a single enemy and your ep meter charges slow as hell and without dlc the roster is pretty small. Number 2 is two short, they removed cutscenes before missions and replaced them with basically slideshows, you only have 4 powers and 2 costumes per character, story is too short And the civil war part of it is only like 2 missions. If they were going to do civil war they should have gone all the way. Number 3 it’s only available on the switch, if you don’t grind your heroes in the rifts you’ll be too weak to unlock and win things outside of the story and it takes a long time to unlock. The iso system isn’t too bad but the menu sucks. And 1000 capacity might sound like a lot, but it’s actually too small, and a lot of heroes have powers that are useless. Number one did too, but every hero had so many that you could find some that worked for you. There are characters in number 3 that have one or no effective powers at all *ahem* scarlet witch
MUA1 definitely has a better roster and a more adventurous spirit. But it was held back by technical limitations, somewhat antiquated character kits and gimmicky boss fights. Sure, launching yourself out of a cannon 5 times in a row to fight a giant robot is neat the first time, but repeat playthroughs suffer for it, and the Atlantis maps could have a least been much smaller to ease the frustration of movement. MUA2 basically put all its chips in graphics, destruction physics and fun combat. In a way, it at least is the superior game if you just wanna bash stuff without worrying about your progression. Hopefully MUA3 is the Ultimate Alliance of both predecessors' strong traits.
Great video, sir. I grew up playing both games for hours with my younger brother. The first one for me is by far the best, and what I spent the most on. I've actually started playing it again recently. I never finished the second one but I plan on doing that one afterwards. I never fully gave it a chance from how different it felt. The third didn't show much promise to me when it was first released but I might give it a try one of these days, just to see if anything was improved upon or brought back from the first two. I saw the cutscenes however, and I was not happy. 😅

I'm actually pumped for MUA 3. Between MUA 1 and 2, I prefer the first game. The second one was a letdown. Remember that Activision used to own the MUA series and other Marvel titles. Most of Activision Marvel games were mediocre, so I guess the company ditched the Marvel gaming franchise. As of now, I think both Sony and Nintendo owns some of them, so I trust them.

I haven’t played mua 1, but I thought the story in mua2 was amazing. All the secret recordings eg of cap talking politics etc. I thought it was a cool sorry with lots of weight dialogue in the hubs. I have the civil war comic, but I think this was even better.
I love both of these games, but I'd probably have to say that while UA 2 has more satisfying combat, UA 1 has better content. Don't why a lot of people seem to hate UA 2 in this comments section, yeah it definitely had it's problems, but it was still a solid game.
I'm gonna say it, flame away.... I liked MUAII better. Both are great, but I enjoyed 2 more. The RPG elements weren't that important. Funny enough, Diego directly contradicts himself on these points...therefore his point 2 is negligible.
I like both games but I like MUA1 more than MUA2 in MUA1 Nightcrawler and Spider-Women where my 2 favorite heroes and in MUA2 it was Strom and Wolverine
I was expecting MUA 2 final boss to be Galactus from the ending of MUA 1. Disappointed! At least in MUA 1 choices you make during the game AFFECTS the ending! MUA 2 you can play characters who support the registration act or do not support the registration act. I played both games.
Imo MUA1 is leagues better than MUA2 in just about every way. Visually I find MUA1 is much prettier looking game,which is kinda nuts considering it's older,but MUA2 is just so grey and meh,and just like Diego said,the maps and level of MUA2 are sooo bland compared to MUA1. MUA1 graphicly is kinda like heroes 2,it's got this unaging graphics,coz it's not about the texture quality,it's all about that epic beautifull art style. Where I disagree with diego is the combat though,I MUCH prefered MUA1,I wouldnt call the combat there clunky at all tbh. One of the biggest gripes I have had with MUA1 is that it lacks atleast a couple of extra difficulty settings,the only way to make the game actually in any way challenging,is to go on hard mode and use normal mode saves where you characters start at low level. MUA2 feels even easier than MUA1,there is more autoaim/lock on assist which as a PC player I absolutely hate. The only thing I generally agree is much better in MUA2 compared to MUA1,is the ultimate/fusion attacks,in MUA1 they are pretty generic,in MUA2 they look dope as f***.

I preferred 1's story over ethically fucked Iron-man, stubborn ultimatum Captain America, and hours long pissing contest. I want heroes to actually work together in say...a all out attempt to stop someone from becoming _a God_
So watching this video after playing alot of ua3 I've got a few things to say. In my opinion, the combat in ua3 is the best. It's so satisfying and fun. The only thing that isn't as good as the lack of fusion moves from ua2. I'm not expecting good stories from these games but I feel like ua3 has the better story, due to there being more cutscenes with amazing voice acting apart from ultron and gamora who are pretty weak. But 1 thing I hate about the third game is the costumes, they are extremely lazy. Literally just colour swaps. Smash bros did a better job than this game. Overall I'd rank the ua games in this order from worst to best: 3: Ua2 - not bad but a bit lacking with certain aspects. Characters, costumes etc. 2: Ua3 - extremely fun story and great roster and amazing combat and voice acting 1: Ua1 - amazing story, amazing roster, amazing levels, just amazing
Ultimate alliance 2 had a great story and great gameplay but they failed with the alternate costumes by only giving one to each hero/villain and it hurts people who played on the Wii or DS didn’t even get a chance to have alternate costumes but the DS version has one thing going for itself and that’s the comic styled cutscenes while ultimate alliance had everything you could have wanted while being a game that you could play by yourself or playing with your friends or family I had to start out with ultimate alliance 2 for the ds but due to my 7 year old mind not being able to disarm the bomb in Times Square I put down the game after a few months but with ultimate alliance one I was introduced to the greatest hero’s of all time while at the time I knew who iron man was or the human torch just to name a few my main hype was for Spider-Man which definitely did not disappoint ultimate alliance 1 will keep me on a binge run for days on end playing with every hero while with ultimate alliance 2 I’m just gonna put in the cheats and just go with Spider-Man venom green goblin and daredevil and getting the story over with it’s a good game but it didn’t have the same aspect of dedication and hard work that the first game had with the side quests but nonetheless the second game will always be there for me when I want a tear jerking storyline while with the first game I will go to only on special occasions to keep the same level of nostalgia and I thank neversoft for working on the game and introducing me to the marvel fandom

I actually preferred the combat mechanics in the original MUA. Playing through Justice League Heroes in late 2017 made me realize how important it is to craft reasons for the player to mix up their fighting style. It also keeps the moment-to-moment action from getting stale.
That is a fair point. A lot of times what I do while I play these games, is catch up on podcast. So I’ll be playing for a good couple hours. My brain is mainly focused on listening to the podcast while I keep my hands busy. So I think my preference on having a super laid back experience might come from that.

This is such a great video. I've got to admit, I've never really given MUA 2 enough love - I have to go back and finish that one. Also, good point about the huge bosses in the first game being the most memorable parts of the game. I hope the Sentinels and Sandman in MUA 3 are a sign that they're bringing those big boss fights back.
Thanks Josh! I admit I was a bit underwhelmed with MUA 2 after my first play through. But both of these games are so much more fun when the characters are higher levels. So New Game Plus is a much better experience.
The 1st game was better by a landslide . My 2 most important reasons are #1 , the roster , #2 The Arcade style gameplay that they sadly removed in the 2nd game, and it looks like it won't be returning in #3 .

I love both games, but I honestly enjoyed Ultimate Alliance 2 more. I really liked the story as it felt much more personal, I liked that they used the more obscure/lesser known villains for the story & many of the boss battles as it gave it a nice breath of fresh air from the villains that would normally be used, same goes for the lesser known superheroes that show up throughout the adventure, the graphics and character models were improved upon TEN FOLD, the combat felt better as it was more hard hitting, faster & much smoother, the Fusion attacks were awesome, and the cinematics were better. Vicarious Visions did an awesome job, IMO. I'm looking forward as hell to Ultimate Alliance 3. From what I've seen, Team Ninja is doing a bang-up job.

I disagree when it comes to cutscenes. They are much better in 1. Like its not even a competition. The main gameplay graphics are better in 2 for sure but the cutscenes took a very notable downgrade in 2. You also have many more power choices in 1 instead of being stuck with 4 powers for each character which I personally prefer. I'd rather have more options, even if I have to grind more.
@@Jack_of_Hearts4 You obviously only played the 360/PS3 version because in the Wii/PS2/PSP version the characters have 8 powers each. As far as the cinematics go I thought they were better in part 2.

@@kal-el8402 far from it. Would I rank it the weakest of the 3? Probably, but weakest doesn't mean bad. It's still a very fun game with a FANTASTIC roster (and biggest in the series history) of playable characters. Same type of gameplay but much faster and action oriented than the previous 2 while the RPG mechanics are still present but now they're more stat/percentage based with the absolutely MASSIVE grid based system and ISO-8 stones. I enjoyed the hell out of it, same with the other installments.

As for my favourite MUA game they both have things that I like.
For example I liked the different locations that we were able to go to in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.
I also liked X-Tremes Merc's Revenge is one my favourites but so is Cyclops' Optic Incineration.
I do understand what your saying about fusions though. And unlike X-Tremes they can be cancelled.
I also like the fact that MUA2 did away with the extraction points.
Well the PS3 and xbox 360 versions did. They were still present in the ps2 and PSP versions of the game.
To me, i find the 1st game better! My main favorite character is Wolverine because he regenerates his health due to his mutant healing ability!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 is a masterpiece, Ultimate Alliance 2 is bland as heck, and Ultimate Alliance 3 looks like a perfect amalgamation of the first game’s personality and the second one’s gameplay improvements.

Something even i about 11 years ago noticed was that ultimate alliance 1 had better graphics for some odd reason. And that there was much more storyline to it. I beat ua2 but never beat 1 to this day
Ultimate Alliance 1 was more like an action-based Diablo dungeon crawler, and less like a "beat-em up" game. So I guess you just prefer beat-em up games, seeing as you didn't believe that removing abilities, items, team bonuses, etc was a problem.

Second: a lot of the special powers in MUA1 felt like a filler to simply have more. I think X-Men Legends 1 & 2 did it better with more viable options to make your "own" character. Although it would have been cool to have the option of remove spent points more easily, like in MUA2.

I used to love MUA 1. I still do mostly. However, I have played the game so much that I noticed a fatal flaw in single player. Your AI companions never use their powers on their own.
Yea it requires you to switch often and use up stamina bar and different characters. You can run thru normal not doing this but I’m hard mode you gotta play smarter with your team

Lots of great memories with these games. Played the first one in the original Xbox when it first launched and met one of my best online friend who I still keep up with to this day. We played it all the time trying out different teams and running through the harder difficulty mode. We were a bit bummed out when the DLC characters dropped and found out they were locked to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. We even called Activision and tried to convince their customer service reps to add those characters to the OG Xbox version of the characters at the time (we were kids and couldn't afford 360s at the time). Imagine how excited we were to play the 360 versions bundled in with our 360s along with Forza Motorsport 2 a year or so later. It was awesome playing through it again and again. Great times!
Let's be honest the music in the second one is way way better. Anytime I hear the music I get emotional because I remember playing this game nonstop with my brother. Luckily today I bought the combo pack on PS4. And now we are playing it again and we are planning to get platinums in both games.

In my opinion of course, Ultimate Alliance 1 and X-Men Legends 2 are the greatest Marvel games of all time.
I'm kinda surprised that you didn't factor roster in your comparisons. I mean, MUA1 would likely have still won with this in mind, but still, it's an important element. I actually preferred X-men Legends and MUA1 having numerous powers as I view it as giving both the characters and the players more personality and expression. Also, it gives you options if one power is not as good. In MUA2 and indeed MUA3, if you're playing a favorite character with a terrible power (like Scarlet Witch in MUA3), you'll either have to deal with less utility or switch to someone else. I think MUA2 had the potential to be better story wise, but it was ultimately never as dark as it presented itself to be and the RE2 type route A and route B playthroughs weren't as detailed as they could have been. All that said, I pretty much agreed with you on everything else. Good comparison video.
I'm disappointed that you couldn't play Spider-Woman in the sequel after she was playable in the first game.
On the plus side,I get Carnage and my favorite Anti-Air assist in the sequel.

Not sure these factors were weighted correctly. If the game play is shit then the game can shine in every other way but nobody will want to play it. Game play is THE most important factor in a game not asthetics.

As a kid and as an "adult" i prefer UA2 more. Its so much prettier, more satisfying combat, and I personally feel like the story is great(i must be the only one in history to think this). The 3 acts are all great and tie into each other. Latvaria leads to registration, registration causes nanite creation, which was latvarian technology created originally by the tinkerer. UA 1 is a solid 8.5/10 but to me personally, UA2 is an 8.8/10 im also a nostalgia baby, tho, so keep that in mind before murdering me

UA1's story was better than UA2's, they had the right idea with the Civil War but then they botched it by veering off into The Fold. I think what they should have done instead was reveal that the Civil War was being orchestrated and manipulated by Hydra, it would've stayed relevant to the Civil War while also giving us a big organization of villains to fight like the first game did.
The first ultimate alliance was scary because of murder world and mephisto's realm and overall nostalgia

UA1 has the better atmosphere, UI, story, bosses and roster.
But, UA2 has gameplay that has aged much better.
Some missions in UA1 dragged on or had enemies that forced you to do specific combos and it isn’t as fun to clear a room of enemies as it is in UA2.
UA1 is the better overall Marvel Universe experience and UA2 is the better Beat Em Up.

These games were erased from existence, unless you got hard copies, and I heard they made to where not even those work somehow, I dunno, but I did hear that if you even bought them digitally, they became unplayable and thanos snapped
Easily my favorite series. I still play all 3 of them. They all of their strengths. In my opinion 1 had the best abilities and loot/gear system, and most alternate costumes. 2 had the best visually and made you feel the most like the heroes. You could send a group of henchman flying with ability moves and special/fusion moves will clear an entire room or take down a huge chunk of a bosses health bar. 3 has the best roster (in my opinion) you have a little bit of everything guardians, xmen,ff, avengers, street heroes,supernatural heroes, and villains. I’ve easily played these games more than any other in my life. Mostly 1 and 2 because it took so long for 3 to come out.
To me the weakness are in number 1 the heroes don’t feel as powerful as they should. You can do extreme moves in a room full of goons and not kill a single enemy and your ep meter charges slow as hell and without dlc the roster is pretty small. Number 2 is two short, they removed cutscenes before missions and replaced them with basically slideshows, you only have 4 powers and 2 costumes per character, story is too short And the civil war part of it is only like 2 missions. If they were going to do civil war they should have gone all the way. Number 3 it’s only available on the switch, if you don’t grind your heroes in the rifts you’ll be too weak to unlock and win things outside of the story and it takes a long time to unlock. The iso system isn’t too bad but the menu sucks. And 1000 capacity might sound like a lot, but it’s actually too small, and a lot of heroes have powers that are useless. Number one did too, but every hero had so many that you could find some that worked for you. There are characters in number 3 that have one or no effective powers at all *ahem* scarlet witch

MUA1 definitely has a better roster and a more adventurous spirit. But it was held back by technical limitations, somewhat antiquated character kits and gimmicky boss fights. Sure, launching yourself out of a cannon 5 times in a row to fight a giant robot is neat the first time, but repeat playthroughs suffer for it, and the Atlantis maps could have a least been much smaller to ease the frustration of movement.
MUA2 basically put all its chips in graphics, destruction physics and fun combat. In a way, it at least is the superior game if you just wanna bash stuff without worrying about your progression.
Hopefully MUA3 is the Ultimate Alliance of both predecessors' strong traits.
Great video, sir. I grew up playing both games for hours with my younger brother. The first one for me is by far the best, and what I spent the most on. I've actually started playing it again recently. I never finished the second one but I plan on doing that one afterwards. I never fully gave it a chance from how different it felt.
The third didn't show much promise to me when it was first released but I might give it a try one of these days, just to see if anything was improved upon or brought back from the first two. I saw the cutscenes however, and I was not happy. 😅

One thing I always hated about MUA2 was the single alternative outfit, and most of the time they were eating boring or straight up terrible
I'm actually pumped for MUA 3. Between MUA 1 and 2, I prefer the first game. The second one was a letdown. Remember that Activision used to own the MUA series and other Marvel titles. Most of Activision Marvel games were mediocre, so I guess the company ditched the Marvel gaming franchise. As of now, I think both Sony and Nintendo owns some of them, so I trust them.
I’m really pumped for MUA 3. It looks like it improves on many aspects of the franchise.

I haven’t played mua 1, but I thought the story in mua2 was amazing. All the secret recordings eg of cap talking politics etc. I thought it was a cool sorry with lots of weight dialogue in the hubs. I have the civil war comic, but I think this was even better.

I love both of these games, but I'd probably have to say that while UA 2 has more satisfying combat, UA 1 has better content. Don't why a lot of people seem to hate UA 2 in this comments section, yeah it definitely had it's problems, but it was still a solid game.

I'm gonna say it, flame away.... I liked MUAII better. Both are great, but I enjoyed 2 more. The RPG elements weren't that important. Funny enough, Diego directly contradicts himself on these points...therefore his point 2 is negligible.

I was expecting MUA 2 final boss to be Galactus from the ending of MUA 1. Disappointed! At least in MUA 1 choices you make during the game AFFECTS the ending! MUA 2 you can play characters who support the registration act or do not support the registration act. I played both games.
Imo MUA1 is leagues better than MUA2 in just about every way.
Visually I find MUA1 is much prettier looking game,which is kinda nuts considering it's older,but MUA2 is just so grey and meh,and just like Diego said,the maps and level of MUA2 are sooo bland compared to MUA1.
MUA1 graphicly is kinda like heroes 2,it's got this unaging graphics,coz it's not about the texture quality,it's all about that epic beautifull art style.
Where I disagree with diego is the combat though,I MUCH prefered MUA1,I wouldnt call the combat there clunky at all tbh.
One of the biggest gripes I have had with MUA1 is that it lacks atleast a couple of extra difficulty settings,the only way to make the game actually in any way challenging,is to go on hard mode and use normal mode saves where you characters start at low level.
MUA2 feels even easier than MUA1,there is more autoaim/lock on assist which as a PC player I absolutely hate.
The only thing I generally agree is much better in MUA2 compared to MUA1,is the ultimate/fusion attacks,in MUA1 they are pretty generic,in MUA2 they look dope as f***.
I wish there was a very hard and a expert mode in MUA1 to spice things up like what MUA2 did.

So watching this video after playing alot of ua3 I've got a few things to say.
In my opinion, the combat in ua3 is the best. It's so satisfying and fun. The only thing that isn't as good as the lack of fusion moves from ua2.
I'm not expecting good stories from these games but I feel like ua3 has the better story, due to there being more cutscenes with amazing voice acting apart from ultron and gamora who are pretty weak. But 1 thing I hate about the third game is the costumes, they are extremely lazy. Literally just colour swaps. Smash bros did a better job than this game. Overall I'd rank the ua games in this order from worst to best:
3: Ua2 - not bad but a bit lacking with certain aspects. Characters, costumes etc.
2: Ua3 - extremely fun story and great roster and amazing combat and voice acting
1: Ua1 - amazing story, amazing roster, amazing levels, just amazing

MUA 2's PS2 version is horrible, one of the worst and broken games i've played.

Ultimate alliance 2 had a great story and great gameplay but they failed with the alternate costumes by only giving one to each hero/villain and it hurts people who played on the Wii or DS didn’t even get a chance to have alternate costumes but the DS version has one thing going for itself and that’s the comic styled cutscenes while ultimate alliance had everything you could have wanted while being a game that you could play by yourself or playing with your friends or family I had to start out with ultimate alliance 2 for the ds but due to my 7 year old mind not being able to disarm the bomb in Times Square I put down the game after a few months but with ultimate alliance one I was introduced to the greatest hero’s of all time while at the time I knew who iron man was or the human torch just to name a few my main hype was for Spider-Man which definitely did not disappoint ultimate alliance 1 will keep me on a binge run for days on end playing with every hero while with ultimate alliance 2 I’m just gonna put in the cheats and just go with Spider-Man venom green goblin and daredevil and getting the story over with it’s a good game but it didn’t have the same aspect of dedication and hard work that the first game had with the side quests but nonetheless the second game will always be there for me when I want a tear jerking storyline while with the first game I will go to only on special occasions to keep the same level of nostalgia and I thank neversoft for working on the game and introducing me to the marvel fandom

I agree with this assessment. MUA2 is the better game from a technical standpoint. But MUA1 is the better Marvel game
