It's SO strange to hear Emily Kuroda without her Mrs. Kim accent.
I think Lane Kim is on of my favorite characters on Gilmore Girls. She would've been my best friend in high school too. ❤

It made me sad a little, because they discuss how happy and proud they were for their characters to have development and growth, and then in the revival they get that taken away. The writers did not advance their characters at all...lane was still living in the same apartment..in the same place in life. They fell into the "background/ extra" characters they were happy not to be. The revival did not do their characters justice.
I don’t see it that way. I see it as lane realizing that there’s nothing wrong with settling down and raising a family in your home town and taking over your moms passion as a way of being fulfilled.
Jessica, I agree with you. It's not that there was anything wrong with living a life like her mom's, but Lane was different and she wanted something different. And I felt let down, and I felt like they let Lane down. Just my opinion.
Agree on what you say...and to be frank...100% of those characters on the show never moved beyond where they left. Ok, maybe Kirk made a new movie lol. I loved it for the nostalgia, hated it for the lack of life since.
@@imibee5184 from my understanding, Amy Palladino was really upset that in season 7 Lane got pregnant. That was not a storyline she wanted. And I guess she thought that had to be good parents and the only way to be that was to stay put in stars hollow.
@@vondonstrut218 to be honest... I felt let down by what Amy did to most of the characters... The revival was like a slap in the face.
I love hearing them talk and seeing how close they are, but the sound production on this went from so quiet I couldn't hear them, to hurting my ears when they burst into laughter.
Love them. Surprised that lanes character was so much younger than her real age, wow I really believed she was under 18.

Top of the list of my favorite mother and daughter duo! Loved them both since I was a kid watching them on Gilmore Girls and even more now after watching that interview😆💞
What a great interview! They were so right about the characters & the storyline having a real arc. This was always a 3 dimensional relationship that made them so much fun to watch. Amy Sherman-Palladino NEVER allowed these characters to become sterotypical, which is what made them so special. I don't remember a single moment where the relationship didn't seem authentic. One of my favorite moments in the relationship was also when everything have been pulled out from under the floorboards. It was a highly metaphorical moment for the two of them. That and Lane's wedding, when you're shown that Mrs. Kim has her own set of things "under the floorboards" when her mother shows up. And I love the comment that Mr Kim was also hidden under the floorboards! Although Korean cultural aspects were strong plot points, the relationship never seem to be about them being Korean, as much as being mother and daughter. And since mother-daughter relationships were the focus of the show, that's what gave them staying power. That's why they were never boring. The show would have been lacking with Lane & Mrs. Kim.
Love this! You can tell theyre both very warm and caring human beings!

How did the roll of being a Seventh Day Adventists come into to play? Were the Kim's Adventist in real life? I thought that was nice as I am an Adventist.
I HATED how they portrayed Mrs Kim as an Adventist, very cold and rigid. Maybe it was Emily's idea of what Adventists are. I was one once and NEVER knew people who were like her.
