- HUGE Storm in Omaha NE knocks Power Out to over 36000 People. Some for over a week!!! This storm rips the power lines off houses!! To help John, I installed a Pro Tran 2 10 circuit Generator Transfer Switch and 2 EcoFlow Delta Pro's (for 240v split phase) to power his house and Critical Loads. We also put some used Solar Panels in the back yard propped up on some logs to help him along. 24hrs later, still no sun...The EcoFlow Delta's were getting low so I brought over an Anker SOLIX F3800 and expansion battery. The NEXT DAY Laurens Supervisor from work had been running a generator and it quit. I brought over my other Anker SOLIX F3800 to get them by. Wow what a crazy couple of days!!!

Awesome of u helping out folks with all those portable power stations u got. Glad the storm wasn’t bad for ya
Thanks! Glad I was able to help at least a few. Now everyone knows what I do with the power stations😆 Im super surprised it was worse in my neighborhood. The winds were crazy high!
Nice job getting everyone powered up. 👍
Those were some crazy storms! Loved the lightning show though. Thanks for being a great example for everyone and having "Joes Power Shack" open for business when others were in need!
"Joe's Recharge Station" - sounds pretty cool - you could make a mint renting out the power stations and recharging them, at least saving fridge contents and those using oxygen concentrators.
Proud of you making a success of doing something we love!
The wife keeps saying the same thing. Rent these power stations out! Just trying to help out where I can! Thanks Man!💥🤘
Thank you to all the sponsors, that sent the power stations to you. With our them you wouldn't have been able to help out some friends
Thank you for giving us a class on survival in the middle of a storm. The way you handled everything was great. My respect and admiration for you. Greetings from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Thank you! I always try to remain calm and tackle 1 thing at a time. Cant keep looking at the whole thing or nothing gets done.💥🤘
No shortage of firewood in those neighborhoods!
It's always good to have a backup power source and this shows how handy it can be.
Great work, Joe. Taking care of everyone. Good to have these portable power stations. I love mine too, always very handy to have them charged 60% at least.
Nice seeing all those different units being used! And cycling the units. This makes for one of the best videos. Real world conditions showing the units at their best.
Awesome !! Joe your a true friend that cares about the people your associated with! What an excellent example to share with the world ! Keep up the great work !
Thanks Man! I do care! At one point the wife said " You dont have to power everyones house" very next she called from work saying her boss didnt have power. So I dropped off the F3800😁
This episode convinced me that these solar generators are just not there yet. Nothing can beat a WELL MAINTAINED ice generator
Great you could help all these guys out! Good man!
LOL! "Joe the power guy". Funny, I got to test my whole house backup twice yesterday and we didn't have any weather. It was due to "equipment failure." Out about an hour each time. Backup was flawless! 👍💥
Well done Joe a good friend and super neighbor....
Wow, Joe!!! Awesome video, man!!!
That's what I would call a FREAKING INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO....!!!!
So much information on what to do - in real life - on a major power outage...!!!
And, man, you have so much freaking energy stored in your basement that you could light up all your neighborhood... !!!! WOW!!! Really impressed me there...!!! And you still have ESS's stored and not installed...!!!
Man, wish I could get my hands on any of those...!!!
Anyway, loved the video, man!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Will be waiting further videos... Take Care...!!! And stay powered up....!!!!
Good job Joe. I live in Lincoln, no power loss in my area but SW lincoln had about 5K homes lost power. I was charged up and ready to go in anticipation to the storm front coming in. I use 2 Bluetti AC200P & L units hooked up to my 6 circuit manual transfer switch and 3.4K gas generator as backup. Good to see that an "Average Joe" is willing to help his neighbors.
Nice job! I hope all your neighbors are subscribed to your channel.
That John guy's wicked smart.
He has the Occasional blurp of greatness!😲🤭
Ur basement is awesome........ur a superman.....great work
Really nice to have a friend like you in this situation. We just had Hurricane Beryl and over a million without power around the Houston, Tx area. I made it through the storm night with only a couple of blinks. Then the next afternoon one main line in front of my house came down with no limbs or wind at all. Next three days I was back on my old Storm Responder generator I've had since 2006 or so. Of course the carb was plugged and I spent a hour or so in the 100 degree plus getting that cleaned. In the past the generator has ran for weeks at a time and this time it was only about 3 days. Generators are a pain, but if stored and maintained even some of the cheaper ones are okay. I would love to have some of the batteries, but it looks like I'll be in a home or worse before I could ever afford them.
Absolutely awesome the way you are helping everyone.
Have to keep those lights out Joe, or the zombies will be making a beeline to you!
Very true!😆😆😆😆
Thanks for the video… so I live in Cali and a few weeks ago my neighbor across the street their power went out for some reason and it was out from evening to the next day… now seeing your video… I need to finish putting my off grid system together…
Well, I would have to say you do have the best Average charging station in the neighborhood. 👍
Im thinking I have the only charging station in the neighbor hood.😆
Nice work, Joe! Starting to make me think about more backups for our system. Glad you and Lauren are ok!
You can add a monitor straight to the pi to view solar assist with internet down
Yeah I know😏 I didnt want to get all the parts out to view lol. I mean, the inverter has a screen I could look at for the night🤷♂️ I guess if it woulda been out in the morning, I would of done it😆
Quite enjoyed this one! I demand more cat footage, i thought you only had the one! Crazy that a fridge pulls 700+ watts when plugged in, mine pulls that over 2 days but UK fridges are a quarter of the size of american ones! 😂😊
Hello Joe. The hand truck backup power supply you did one year ago. Would you do it again with a new system or the same?
Your cat is fine.
Is this new storm ⛈️
Your getting hit again
Diesel is the back up to your backups
Ok this is the long version. Thanks for sharing
Yeah this is the long version. I would change to a luxpower 6000xp for the 240v split phase option. Makes it easy for me at least to power the loads in my house. The rack style battery is a little cheaper also if looks are not a thing.
HOWdy A-R-J, ...
Thanks

I started off with a 14KW diesel generator 70 gallon fuel tank, then added a 5KW EG4 battery and inverter. Recently added 4 KW solar and 10 KW EG4 battery and 6KW inverter. Think I have the basics covered for power outage. This video is a good application of backup power.
Someone may have reminded you to get everything topped off 😝
Solar Assistant doesn't require the internet, can view it locally provided you keep power up to your local network. Perhaps your phone browser has been set to connect to the SA server instead of your SA Raspberry Pi's local IP address. I have both bookmarked in my phone so I can view it when away but use local connection when at home.
Last long outage we had I used our vehicle's V2L adapter to charge the home battery. Dumped 22 kWh from the car into the home system over 15 hours. That was ample to power our two homes and get some charge back into the battery.
Yeah solar assist just wouldnt work🤷♂️ I was trying to connect local 192. ect but it just wouldnt. Tried restarting router and everything else. Not sure what the deal was yet.
That is super cool you can dump the car battery into your system. I would 100% do that if I had an EV!😲🤘
Great job 👏
Protect all critical loads aka beer fridge!!
😆😆😆😆😏 I meaaaan🤷♂️😆 Honestly that fridg works amazing and I could keep it unplugged for a bit if it came down to it.
Hey man love your channel I've been subscribed for quite a while
You are a good man. Your town needs to take you out for dinner. Hopefully your electric bill isn't to crazy after all that charging. Something tells me you could care less about it. By far your best video to date!!!
Except for NFL football I do not watch TV. I find your videos very watchable the content is good , the tempo is not
boring and the information is useful. Best to you .
Thank and Appreciate that. I dont watch like real TV but binge watch shows or movies😆🤷♂️
Future business idea: Truck mounted generator, travel around allowing people to recharge portable power stations. Maybe even renting portable power stations (need a hefty deposit).
It’s awesome. You got so many back ups. I wanna start getting some solar panels and power stations myself. I have three different. Gas. generators one is a conventional generator that I can run on natural gas propane or gasoline. The other two are inverter generators which I can use at night time if there’s no power since they’re pretty quiet, but it would be awesome to have a big enough battery to run the house every night and conserve fuel for longer power outages
Awesome video, Joe!
You likely sold a few with this one lol AJ the nice guy
That was not the intent at the begining of this video. All I wanted to do was say "Hey, look at me at 30%soc and the grid went out from the storm. Look at me go WoooHooo...".😆😆😆😆
Great video good samaritan
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
Might be time to build a Bunker Underground somewhere in the Backyard, lol
I lived in Nebraska until I was 12, Grand Island, in fact just a few months before that small town was destroyed by several tornados, erasing landmarks that had been there my entire life, I remember those storms when I was a kid, gorgeous outside one minute, and storms the next, scared the sh** out of me, I have a Brother & Sister in law in Elgin, and a Sister and Brother in law in Grand Island. I am safely in Texas, but we still get the storms.
Yeah the storms can get crazy QUICK! You just never know. Didnt you just have a hurrican?
@@AveRage_Joe Went towards Houston, but yes.
Pls test the following.....both of ur DPU plus the DP3 all plugged into the SHP2.......they "should" all work together......so they say.
I think most viewers would say you are the above average joe.
LOL, you must have spent a fortune on power stations. Get a few rewindable extension cords for future use. You can plug the portable power stations in and charge them up without having to drag them out of the truck. Just a thought..
Sad to see so much destruction, but good that forests survive better because adjacent trees help protect each other.
You maybe could protect your trees using ropes connected between trunks of one to the branches of another, and thus create a network all reinforcing each other.
That would be something crazy to see! Spider web of ropes!😲
Double up on those panels bud!
You got caught with your pants down. I always charged up when storms are around.
super joe no storm can stop you 😂😂😂😂
You need more pv, more batteries.
Working on it! I have moar of both!😁🤘
Ok, why not for possible better efficiency, just plug the 2 basement refrigerators into the delta units. Save the triple conversion (delta battery/ac to cv power supply to battery to inverter to fridge) down to single conversion. (delta battery/ac to fridge)
Item two, why carry the inverter the whole way around to open the garage door when all you had to do, was pull the string on the garage door release and carry it in through the garage door?
Yeah we could be more efficient if we needed to be and things like that are the way to go. I could also shut down breakers.
For Johns house....I am glad you asked. Sooooo we tried that but we could not get the door to move because the rail was so tight to the ceiling(very low garage). BUT when its connected, the tension bows it enough to not scrape.... We tried another way but then it would scrape the whole front of the door.. We decided we were taking to long messin around with the door well leave it connected and just use a delta to open so we could bring in all the stuff. He said that is on his list!
@@AveRage_Joe Thank you for explaining. While watching it was like why didn’t you just pull the cord?
Now we know the rest of the story!
Thanks Joe, That was a hectic few days 😲 Did you finish the solar on your roof or waiting on parts ?
Wow! With all these units getting charged, how much charge will your home getting?
Thank you Joe. What solar panels are you using and where are they on roof or in yard.
It seems that you are a electrician are you? I’m new to your channel.
I’m now looking at something simple for my wife to be able to connect a simple connection for power of entire home in Caribbean. The other pros trying to find the ecoflow products.
Thanks Houli
Does Warren Buffett live nearby your house? Hope the Oracle of Omaha has solar panels and batteries on his house just like your house.
Omadome is broken. Somehow I didnt lose power. Power company made sure I can still login 🤣
The LuxPower 6000 is not as good as the EG4 6000XP. EG4 had them put in breakers and switches accessible from the front of the units case. EG4 is the one who has made them change the configuration of the 12 kilowatt unit you use. The first 12K had a very small lower cabinet wire area until EG4 told them to change it. Now the 18KPV and the 12K are the same. If I were you, I would not do anything with the LuxPower 6000 and ask Signature solar or Current Connected for a EG4 12KPV to test.
Wait, don’t you have a gigawatt of battery storage?
1.21 jigawatt😲💥⚡️⚡️⚡️
Damn auto -Stupid got me again!
U have lots of batteries... why r u using only the ethos? Combine them with the 12k
Your flag should have the blue star field on the left.
You are 1000% correct and it needs to be fixed!💥🦅
Where is your Big Battery's you should have a lot of battery power
Like# Uno
💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥😆
If you have cell service why not just use your phone's wi-fi hotspot so the equipment can communicate?
you guy's don't know you can disconnect the garage door opener trolley from the door?
We tried...his garage is so short that if its disconnected, it hits/scrapes so much that would couldnt move the door up. However, if its connected....it works lol🤷♂️ I know its sounds weird but we tried
You need to trim your trees so they can't hit your house in a storm.
Is that a ac to dc converter? What is the brand and model?
At what time stamp?

Your frein in NOT a prepper, no food in the fridge
Exactly, this is what I am on about when it comes to the IoT of things.... Why do manufacturers not make locally driven applications I do not mean blue tooth I mean Wifi? This counts for 3d printers and all those items that need an internet connection.... Please, if any manufacturers watch this, this is why an IoT driven app IS A FAILURE!!! Stop forcing online connections when it comes to apps... Sorry Joe, but this IoT culture when it comes to hardware is driving me up the wall. Also, Average Joe becomes Power House Joe....
Oh, I like "Power House Joe"!
@@Lauren-ci6uv Hi Lauren! Hope you are well, regards to Joe...
Not to be critical but the US flag is hung incorrectly according to everything I have seen. The union should be on the left as seen by the observer.
You could get a hotel for a couple of months for less jk jk
Enjoyed watching you progress helping all the neighbors and friends. Also enjoyed seeing some more of Omaha, I have a cousin on the northwest side I believe as far as I know he's fine. Keep up the good work Joe!
