Forty is most likely bi, you see hints of it throughout the season when he asks Joe "Hey Joe would you fuck me?" or when him and his co worker were bonding over a gay app. Forty might be curious and open with his sexuality I don't think his parents would care they would probably see it as something special.

Ibraz Rahman I don’t think it really has as much to do with innocence than to do with the fact that Love isn’t a damsel in distress. Candice wasn’t exactly innocent neither was Beck. Joe tried his best to save his mother (killing his dad) and he is looking to do the same in his love interests. But Love doesn’t need him, and that’s when his interest in Love went out the window. It all pins down to his mom who he described as a Saint (which she wasn’t- had numerous affairs in front of Joe, abandoned Joe to go off with men) and the fact that he needs to feel needed / save a girl who is far from innocent in anyone’s eyes but Joe’s (just like his mom)

Candace's story of being abused and almost murdered by her ex boyfriend, going to the police and them being unable to do anything about it, and trying to resolve the issues herself with no one believing her, resulting in her death, is sad, but it's even more chilling to think that many women go through the same or similar situations (especially with the police not being able to help and no one believing them). And yet, by viewing the show through Joe's perspective, we end up rooting for him and don't feel too bad when Candace died because we knew that it meant Joe could stay away from jail. Scary :/

All tho love was more interesting i wouldnt say she was a better character. This is because both beck and love were there to serve a certain purpose. In which they served their purposes beautifully. If beck was written differently we wouldnt have learned what we needed to about joe to move onto such a good season 2. This show isnt a character base plot where all the characters stories are meant to be the story and push it forward. This is a plot just about joe. Hence why he narrates and we pretty much only see things through his eyes. Every character is just there to push joe forward and no other reason. They are all in service to joe and his story. Thus why i have a hard time saying beck was a bad character. But love was ultimately more interesting

I agree on liking Candace the least and that Amber Child’s performance was mediocre. Candace probably could’ve been cast better, yes. However, I don’t think that the role not coming naturally to her should excuse her lackluster acting. Penn said in an interview that he found it hard to play Joe and didn’t want to humanize him because the character goes against everything Penn is and stands for, but that he felt his obligation as an actor is to play all of a character well. That’s what separates the great actors from the rest: consistently delivered great performances and versatility in roles.

None of the characters (except for Joe and maybe Love's parents and some other side characters) seemed like actual people, especially Ellie. They also tried to bring back the aesthetic of the last season, for example in shots where there was the sun in the background (dunno how to explain it, one example could be the scene where Joe gets a sunburn), and it was partially really overdone, especially in the first episode.
Sooo I don't think it was any good at a technical level, but I still was never bored watching it, because I even if all I could think was "god, this is stupid", I could at least make fun of it and still be entertained in some way.

The one thing that didn’t make sense to me and what I believe is a bit of a plot hole is when Delilah discovered Will/Joe’s storage unit. Throughout the series joe has found himself in much worse situations (pacos shopping list, breaking into Candace’s rental, getting caught by fincher, etc.) and he has crafted on-the-spot lies much more intricate than the one he would have needed in that situation, which would have been...:
“I’m a book collector and I have my collection of priceless originals being shipped here from New York. They must be kept in perfect condition, and wouldn’t last in the LA climate. In this “chamber” I can control the temperature and humidity to ensure that they remain in optimal condition...” blah blah blah and so on.
This is an easy lie that he could have 100% come up with and he could have even flipped the situation on Delilah because after all, she’s the psycho that scavenged his apt and stole the keys. It just didn’t feel consistent with his character.

I loved this season so muchhhh mostly because they added my gurl Victoria Pedretti plus they added so many twists and turns to the usual formula. I enjoyed every moment and my favorite character was Forty 😂😂 Also, does anybody else feel really bad for Candace and what happened to her or is it just me?

I hated Candace for some reason. I get that Joe has done horrific things to her but she still acts like she’s some kind of angel, even though she’s not. She cheated on him for a stupid deal and left him devastated. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not on Joes side but this whole “Candace seeking revenge thing” Is just crazy to me (at least the way she does it).

Lol yeah but for me the scene where she was explaining everything to the cops about joe trying to kill her and the cops not able to do anything to help kinda got to me 😂 and when candace finally gets Joe to come to his senses and face all the bad things he has done, she gets murdered by Love

I totally agree, I watched season 1 a couple of times now. I can't say there was any episode in 2 that really lit up for me. I hated the kid sideplots in both seasons, and Forty was so irritating! I fast forwarded through some Delilah and Forty scenes.

I saw the "twist" coming from miles away. Preferred season 1 when the story still felt fresh. Beth's response felt realistic. Love being another psycho just feels lame. Like "we couldn't do the same thing again so I guess the only other option we have is making her a psycho too". Not impressed with the story. The acting is still on point though. Love Penn!

I saw the twist too but let it go just to be proved right from the beginning lol. In the beginning when Candace said she would prove to Joe he wrong first i thought she was the one who found a way to get Love (another psychopath to latch on to him). So i was suspecting Love for the first few episodes but let it go after Candace came and disproved it to later find out i was partially right lol.

He was dealing with withdrawal from the addiction caused from him being framed and bearing the burden of his psycho killer sister’s murder. And he was the only one that figured it all out in the end and tried to save his sister and anyone else in danger of Joe.

This show is so well fucking written. Id also say while the show takes "love"/obsession to its extremes it shows alof of problems with how people view the concept of love today. Especially when love said "u were looking at the fantasy of me and not really me". This line hit hard cause its so true for so many people. I think this show does a great job of making us question what does it mean to love someone.

In the book, Candice runs off to LA and Joe follows her to kill her. This makes so much more sense than the series, why would Candice actively pursue Joe if she was scared of him. Also the whole kidnapping the guy for his identity was just messy and so pointless. For me the story started off on the wrong foot which encouraged pointless characters with senseless sub-plots

I actually called Love being a killer early on but I was wrong for the reason why. When we realized Loves husband died of a mysterious sickness and that Love was a chef who loved cooking , I assumed she poisoned him . So even though I was wrong about that, it did have me thinking she was a killer from early on.

I read somewhere that Joe has never actually been in love-he’s just in love with the idea of it. That’s why he checks out the woman at the end of season 2. He’ll never be satisfied.
He likes to put girls on a pedestal, and when they fall down from that, he loses interest

I was actually like Joe in this series. I fell in love with Love as a character because I think that she is too good to be killed by Joe on some point of event. Then the twist came. And like Joe, all I can see is a fantasy version of Love and I have mixed feelings of loving her character, but I think she is very interesting.

Great review! Tbh I wasn't expecting too much since most Netflix shows are getting dumber and dumber as they go so I was really pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this season more than season 1. I really like how they used "Crime and Punishment" to give Joe's character more depth. I didn't like Beck so I was prepared to dislike Love based on trailers but she was such a great written character with more personality and energy! And Forty was a really pleasant surprise too - I really like the friendship between him and Joe. What a great season :) You gained a new subscriber!

Although I liked the premise of the show, I only watched a few episodes of season 1 as I couldn’t get invested in Beck or her friends. I decided to give season 2 another shot after seeing positive reviews and ended up binge watching. This season’s cast had interesting characters and even though I already knew what was going to happen, I got wrapped up in seeing the characters’ journey to the end.
