This scene was intense. Every emotion played out in her face. If you’re a parent, as I am, you’ll recognize yourself……did I go too far? did I say the wrong thing? did I just screw-up? We’ve all been there.
My mom and I are literally the same…and that also means we are both very strong-headed and prideful at times…I couldn’t stand something like this to happen to us it would break me
This story really hits me personally,. Maybe not this scene in particular, but overall I relate so much of this story that it really makes me cry how much I see myself in ladybird.
I cried a lot watching this. When I went to college I could only remember my mom and my sister and I cried all day long when I arrived to the state where I was going to study. I find this scene very relatable...
I never intend on giving I Tonya the time of day, but all these years later, I still seriously doubt whatever Allison Janney did was better than Laurie Metcalf’s performance.
You should seriously watch I Tonya, Allison Janney’s performance was truly incredible. You can’t just make such an assumption when you can easily watch it. Both actresses did great
I agree. I admire and respect Alison in all her many roles, but playing Tonya’s mother was just chewing the scenery; it’s not hard to play off-the-wall characters. It IS hard to play real people who have strong opinions and make mistakes, like all real people do.
@Paco Loco I most certainly will. My mother was so supportive and helped me get where I am now. This year I got into the college of my dreams and I won’t forget that it was the people that love me that helped put me here
I don’t know. Although I admire Allison Janey very much, her Oscar-winning role was a series of scenery chewing. Laurie played a three-dimensional person, a wife and mother who loves her family, but has a complicated relationship with them. She really deserved an Oscar, especially for this scene.
Seeing her slowly panicking as she realize what happened is sad.
Too little to late for her. It was a life lesson not to be such a twat to her daughter

This scene breaks my heart every time
Lisha Govender me too
Laurie Metcalf was just wonderful here. Easily one of the best performances of her life. (That Oscar nomination was definitely well-deserved.)

I always crying when I watch this scene

One of the best performances that didn’t get an Oscar. Laurie Metcalf was truly at her best in this film
Everytime I come back to watch this scene I always cry uncontrollably, well there it goes again 😭
Absolutely heartbreaking. Laurie Metcalf was incredible
This scene is an automatic cry for me. Every time.
this scence makes me bawl like a baby
Sacramento airport; I’m amazed she found her way back to the terminal…IYKYK
Dad's just the neutralizer of everything. The foundation, stronghold, and the rock when everyone gets too emotional
i was this scene every time i need to cry
Any movie that has Jon brion composing for the score is always going to be my favorite. I love this movie too, but Jon Brion made it so much better.

I truly do think Allison Janney deserved that Oscar. Please watch the movie. She did an incredible job. Both of these women are amazing.
It ony a movie
"I seriously doubt".... invalid doubt if you didn't watch the other one to compare😅

How did she not win the oscar for this role?

The eve of parting-John Hartford

xoxo talice that’s for when ladybird is driving not her mom
Anna Goodrich no that’s not that’s this scene when the mother is driving
Jon Brion - leaving
She forgives her mother why?

Why didn’t she just hug her child goodbye ?
