It was a heavy day today at the hospital with Dad. Definitely, the best part of the day was his smile when I showed him the amount of messages and warm wishes you all sent in. It really means a lot to both of us- Thank you all so so much.
Kevin, you're a good man for not retaliating and making this situation even worse. Yes, that other business will get theirs, if not already. People with that kind of nastiness, pettiness, ill will towards neighbors, are full of hatred and don't have an ounce of self respect. Their day will come. By their own hands. My best wishes for Ken's full recovery and may your business flourish.
I'm 45 and my Dad is 80. We have a medical practice together, so I know firsthand the joy of working alongside a parent when you are finally a mature adult and see one another as peers. Get well soon Ken, Kevin still needs you!
Your Dad and I must be having a streak of bad luck this month. It seems that I have been going to the ER for the past month now. At 70 years old I was hoping for something better, but you know what they say ,After you hit 70,everyday after that is a gift. Stay strong,Dads Rule !
Kevin, your dad reminds me of my dad. He did the same work all of his life. He could fix anything. Men like that make the world go round a little easier for the rest of us. Get well soon Ken, prayers for a steadfast recovery!
Sending you and your Dad lots of healing vibes and wishes for a speedy recovery. As a Skylabs customer and a guy who was blessed to have a Dad who was a calm, caring and consistently supportive part of my life please know that you are appreciated Ken!
Get well soon, Ken! And Kevin, I'm never turned off by the occasional non-audio video. Part of the experience of this channel involves the process of running the store and getting through life. Be well, everyone!
Stay strong Ken and Kevin! There is nothing as special as a father and son team. The best years of my life were the ones when I got to work side-by-side with my Dad. You are blessed to have each other in your lives. Dale & JoAnn from MN.
I hope that Ken has a speedy recovery and that you get to have him back with you soon. I am 77 and I have had a rough year and I’m very fortunate to be here in reasonable condition. There is so much that I have to be thankful for. Your support of your Dad will bring him through this just as my daughter did so much to help me back from the abyss. We all need our families to get through problems. Keep up the great work and never give up.
Kevin, sending prayers and wishes for your father's speedy recovery. It's truly a blessing that you have been able to spend the last 5 years working together. With God's will you will have many more good years to follow.
I lost my dad to COVID in March 2020. Didn't even know it was COVID. I went half way across the world to pay my respects. I know this is hard, but please continue what you are doing! That's what your dad wants you to do ❤️
Congrats on Cambridge and AP event’ “Extremely healthy Corndogs & Funnel cakes” 😂😅 I don’t know about that but sounds fun!! Sending healing thoughts your way Ken!! 🙏🏻
Prayers for a speedy recovery ken the guys need you back behind that desk and repairing all that old vintage receivers. Nothing better then a nice family owned business.
Kevin, your videos mean so much to the vintage stereo community. Most watching have never met you, but you feel like a friend. Hope your dad gets well soon. Music brings so much joy to life. Imagine what kind of person/persons would complain.
I can feel the deep love and respect you have for your pops. I really hope he gets well soon and enjoys many more years together with you and your family.
The best wishes for your father, Kevin. Getting old sucks, but I hope to see him in future videos. Many Alpha waves his way for his recovery. I thoroughly enjoy your videos, Kevin, and because of them, it's great to get to know about you and your store and your goodness. I"m currently serving in the Peace Corps overseas, but when I return to the USA (in 6 months), I will definitely visit Skylab Audio in Des Moines. I'm a child of the 60's and have hundreds of vinyl and totally understand the appeal of vintage equipment. I still have my Revox turntable from the 70's (and still wish I had my Yamaha receiver and AR speakers) and can't wait to pair it with some vintage equipment and speakers.
Ken ......hang in there and get well! We need you and your skills to help keep this vintage hifi hobby growing. We are praying for you and your family to make it through this tough time. Keep a good attitude and fight hard. Your fans at the K9mm Ranch in Spring Branch, Texas wish you well.
I'm a big vintage stereo fan, and love your videos. My Marantz 1200B & 115B play nightly through the JBL Jubles (all bought new by me, recapped and surrounded ). Hope like hell your "Ken" makes it back to normal. Being 77 myself I know how times change, not always for the better. Stay good and stay real. What goes around...comes around.
Working with your Dad is great. Hang in there and do what you and your Dad need to do. Tell him to get well soon and hopefully he can return soon to continue to impart his wisdom to you and us. ❤
You took the words out of my mouth. ("Take the High Road"). Thank you for your content, but your time and energy is needed in the speedy recovery of your Dad! Spend time w/ him and best wishes for Both of you.
Hey Kevin, tell your Dad, get well soon. We have him in our hearts. Love watching your videos. I'm over 70 and have been into electronics most of my life. Worked at Zenith in Sioux City back in the 70's. Own a Marantz 2270 I purchased new around that time. Need to purchase one of your shirts. Take care.
Hope you get well soon Ken. With a son like Kevin and the rest of your family and friends behind you. You are in good hands. Love the videos Kevin and look forward to the next one. Take care.
It’s a blessing when both a father and a son are together in one place sharing companionship in one unique passion as the hifi world is. Please tell your father that God created a brain in our bodies that is so infinitely powerful to, not only be creative and sensible at the same time, but to be positive and energetic in communicating with the rest of the body for it’s wellness. Stay positive, focused, steadfast. And you both will see positive and pleasant end results. Best wishes for for of you and the rest of the employees in the shop. For me, one of the top best hifi oriented here on RUclips, and in the Nation. Thank you!!!
I hope Ken is on the mend. I live in West Des Moines and appreciate your business. You guys do a great job! You feel welcome the moment you walk in the door. I help manage a local service oriented business and I understand how important it is to show customers how much they're appreciated. Keep up the great work Kevin and staff. Best wishes to Ken. Cheers, Rick
Get well, Ken. While I don’t know you, what I’ve seen of you smiling from the bench I can tell you’re a genuine and good man. Sending prayers and keep the videos coming!
I'm 70. The reason I never went into business for myself is I don't want the government in my life. My dad, back in the 60's opened a radio shop in a small eastern Washington town, servicing the radios used by all the farmers and ranchers in the area. It was doing REALLY well. Except the politicians that ran the city literally required to be cut into his business or they'd shut him down with rules and ordinances. He walked away from it. To this day I have a big box of NOS tubes from that store.🤣
Sure duh..duh...gummit...duh gummit...the same gummit that subsidizes farmers that paid money to your dad & floats the economy of Eastern WA? The gummit that runs Hanford? Grand Coulee Dam? 🤦🏻
Kevin wishing your Dad Ken a speedy recovery. You're a class act taking the high road with the other business. As you said, they have bigger issues. God Bless. Enjoy the channel.
Wow, just saw this. Big fan of all you all do. Been there, both as a patient and as a family member in the same situation. Keeping you and your Dad and your family in my thoughts. Both you and he need to know how much of a positive impact you have on our lives. Knowing that I had people at my back got me through a protracted hospital stay -- and the same for my family. Just know how much we appreciate everything you all do for those of us who grew up playing with 150 in 1 Electronics kits.
Up in Canada here, watch and enjoy your vids. All the best to your Pops. Sending positive vibes. Had a couple of "incidents" myself and still kicking strong. So good vibes and positve energy going your way. Your a better man than me for taking the high road with the rat that caused you grief. Good on you

Kevin , My wife and I watch every video, and want to send our thoughts and prayers to your Dad and wish him all the best. We would love to take a few days off and visit your great state. Just to stop by and say Hi. Sheeesh I wish we could have made it in time to see some of the events going on , ( My grandson would have loved that huge water slide LOL) . Anyway , keep up the great job , looking forward to seeing the old guy back at the bench. I wish my Dad was still with us as he would have really enjoyed the tight family business.
Hey, Ken! You hang in there and keep looking up! Kevin is very, very, damn proud of you, and he needs you around to keep him going! I wish I had had a father like you when I was growing up. Mine hardly cared about me, and it has affected me all of my life. You are a great man, and need to stay well!
I have just joined your community and have been devouring your content ! Yesterday I opened up and cleaned my first vintage receiver which sounds amazing and I am delighted… after watching Ken at his work station in his big comfy chair I was inspired to set myself up like him in my garage on a makeshift bench and pretend I knew what I was doing and be like your dad !! He seems like such a lovely man as do you Kev, well done for taking higher ground on your problem at the moment and get better soon Ken ! From Trevor a Brit in Australia
Get well Ken!!! I have been a fan of this channels for quite some time, I really appreciate all that you guys do and thoughts and prayers sent to your family.....
My father has been gone for a while, so I'm sending my very best wishes to your dad, Kevin. I worked alongside my dad for years growing up and earning money for college, rather than taking some typical kid job--and I'll never forget how it feels to be alongside your father in a workplace. It's special and I know you must be missing him. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and return.
Hi Kevin, First off, let me extend my best wishes to your dad. I hope he’s able to recover from his unfortunate health issues soon and eventually rejoin the Skylab team ASAP. You have an enviable situation there in Des Moines - working in a field you love and having family members involved. You’re a lucky man. I’m a musician from Dundas, Ontario, Canada, and love vintage, rotating between a Marantz 2252B & a Luxman R-1050. Love both of `em and really can’t decide which I prefer. I enjoy your videos and especially appreciate your level-headed composed demeanour. Your dad has done a good job with you, as your internal code and life-view become subtly and unwittingly revealed through your videos. Hope you don’t have any more business problems.
All the best to your dad and family from Romania. We are a group of friends around the country that love your videos and how you're sharing your experience. Take care.
Hey Kevin, sorry to hear about your dad, please let Ken know that he’s in our prayers and thoughts for healing and a quick recovery. Stay strong and spend as much time with your dad doing what’s necessary as you can, the business will always be there because you’ve created a sound foundation, family comes first, God bless you and your family!
Thoughts with you all. Sending healing vibes from Scotland. Hope your event goes well with Cambridge. Looking forward to hearing about it and seeing some photos or clips. Take care
First and most important: positive thoughts and vibes to Ken! Hey Kevin, well done video, and as a fan of the channel, vintage audio, and all things music, sincerely appreciate you sharing what's going on personally with your Dad and also your thoughts on the signage drama. Personally I think you're handling it with class even though you'd be justified in taking a more confrontational approach. As for the Iowa State Fair, super fond memories as it was a stop on the road in the late 80's when I worked the fair circuit doing sound and lighting for bands. We did the entire run of the fair as a second stage act in, oh, probably '89. Remains one of the premier State Fairs in the country. Best to all the Skylabs crew, and congrats on the Cambridge relationship, I'm certain it will be great for you.
Please get well quick, Ken! It is always nice to see you appear in the videos with a big smile while you are working on a piece of quality vintage equipment. Stay strong! I repair all sorts of electronics now as I approach my 70's. Between raising chickens, gardening and electronics, I stay alert and enjoying life here in Texas. So git well fast! Stay young and active as possible. 🙏🙏🙏
Sending positive vibes for Ken. Get well soon! Man do I wish I could visit the store for your up coming Cambridge Audio event . All the best from Canada.
Get well Mr. K Sr. praying for your health. God bless both of you. Congrats on the Cambridge news Kevin and do not worry about what others do, you keep on doing the right thing.
I'm definitely praying for you, your dad, and your family. It must be said that I admire how you are being the bigger person regarding the signage issue. So many people could learn a lot from you.
It was a heavy day today at the hospital with Dad. Definitely, the best part of the day was his smile when I showed him the amount of messages and warm wishes you all sent in. It really means a lot to both of us- Thank you all so so much.
I just wrote him get well wishes, so I hope he reads it .❤

Best to all the Skylabs crew, and congrats on the Cambridge relationship, I'm certain it will be great for you.
Get well Ken!!! Hope that you are feeling better and can get back to the shop soon!
Get well Ken! We are pulling for you. You are a class act, Kevin. Take care of yourself and your family. All the best!
All the best wishes for your dearest Dad. I’m sure he will be back soon !
Let him know that people from Montreal ,are hoping all the best for him!🇨🇦

Get well Mr. K Sr. praying for your health. God bless both of you. Congrats on the Cambridge news Kevin and do not worry about what others do, you keep on doing the right thing.
I'm definitely praying for you, your dad, and your family. It must be said that I admire how you are being the bigger person regarding the signage issue. So many people could learn a lot from you.
