Interestingly enough, timing your attacks rather than spamming is actually a part of it, as I discovered last week while playing a PvP minigame. Overall, as the mean states, it is kind for a hybrid. 1v1 resembles modern java, but add more than 1 player on either side and it is much more like 1.8 or earlier, as shields become almost worthless and spam clicking achieves a similar success to sweeping swords in java.

But that's just my observation/opinion. They each have great benefits. For instance, bedrock has better performance. Java has snapshots and the better combat, along with a more useful offhand slot. I play both, and I like both equally (though my SMP is on bedrock so I play that more)
first of all bedrock is way better than java since it has more features colored cauldrons more powerful wither and warden and it has more texture packs
