  • An animation comparing Max's fastest Q2 lap with the fastest overall lap in Q2 set by Carlos. As the animation showcases, that Red Bull was a handful yesterday, and it lacked all of the usual traits the Red Bull is usually so good at.

    Well. It is my hope that this will remain for the rest of the season. Might sound mean to the RB fans. But seriously, the race today was simply the most entertaining I've seen for the last half or so. Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes competing neck in neck. So much better than Max cruising in to the win every weekend on end. As a Mercedes fan, I don't hope they get as superior as they were or as RB has been this and last season either. I hope the teams behind RB and also RB next year, continues to be as close to each other as Merc, McLaren and Ferrari are now. And even for Aston, Alpine and Williams to close the gap too.

    The bulls struggled because of the suspension setup, they usually run heavy anti dive and anti squat. Redbull have been struggling to get tyres up to temp as quick as the other teams because of this (most obvious by there qualy pace compared to race pace, there race pace being extremely good, but qualy pace not on par. But the car is still very very very capable in qualy. It just struggles to get tyres in that window quicker due to less time). Also the race had mentioned before that too much anti squat can affect the rear tyres, and Singapore has alot of slow corners that require excellent mechanical grip, they also mentioned the car runs in a very small window, so that really puts into perspective how much redbull has to nail the setup right each weekend, they even mentioned before they would struggle heavily in Singapore.

      Also to add on to this you can make a great car, but if you don’t have the right drivers to extract the maximum out of it it you really won’t know what you have. Even though the redbull has problems getting tyres up to temp, max still was able to pull out amazing laps in qualy, perez was getting crucified for failure to achieve q3 appearances but I think it was due to not having the car setup well and not having the confidence.

      Well, if you look at the tire temps, you will see that had nothing to do with it… they were off the pace constantly throughout the entire race as well…

      @@corruptcentral7992Verstappen was only 0.3 seconds slower than Hamilton when their race pace could be compared during both of their medium stints . Not the fastest but not a complete disaster as you are trying to suggest.

      @corruptcentral7992 8 месяцев назад

      @@darrenjohn8524 0.3 is a lot and it is not the average I believe but the smallest it had gotten, still never said it to be a disaster, just off. I do dislike Max as both a person and especially a driver, but that had nothing to do with my comment, just dismantling the tire temp excuse OP made. Just went back and looked at temps because it made no sense to me that they were struggling with that the entire race, and low and behold I was right.

      @@corruptcentral7992 We have 2 different interpretation of a lot, 0.7 is a lot not 0.3 imo. With 0.3 difference, if somehow verstappen found himself in front of the 2 Mercedes drivers during the medium Tyre stint , they will not be able to pass him. That 0.3 difference was given by Mark Hughes. In hindsight, the best statergy for verstappen was to take mediums during the safety car period and take soft or hard tyres during the Vsc period. Statergy was not kind to red bull in Singapore🤣. I don't really care whether you like or dislike verstappen as I too dislike Hamilton as a person and a driver 🤣.

    For those of you saying that Red Bull got torpedoed by TD018, the fact that they are shocking in slow speed, not high speed (where a flexible wing comes into play), should tell you its more of a setup thing, or something of aerodynamic origin.

      By the onboards it seemed to me that the redbull is stiffer than the other cars, maybe this hurted their pace?

      I mean Red Bull was quicker in most corners and lost their high speed advantage…so perhaps TD018 did kill them.

    Look at the brake timing on sainz, say turn 5, he release his brake in the middle of the apex, thats mean he think he could have attack this turn with a higher speed but ends up messed around his pace causing him a wrose exit than max. But nonetheless, max still losing his high speed disadvantage at straight road. BTW, I think Max is sandbagging, to minimize the tear and wear of the component

    This clearly shows you that it's the car not the driver that plays a huge role in winning races

      It's stupid to think it's mostly one or the other. Perez didn't do much winning when the car was good, and now when the car is out of it's comfortable setup window, not even Verstappen can compensate for it.

      Well yeah you need a good car if not the best car depending on how close cars are to win races, but you also need a top tier driver to be able to extract all that performance out of the car
