The Darklands | D&D 5e Homebrew Game

This is a continuation of the previous session.

The players were given a list of four locations within the city of Bal'kresh to investigate. At each spot the players encountered cultists who sought the resurrection of their Dark Lord Nysrath. Each of the four locations contained a dark shard, a piece of Nysrath’s heart. The players were able to retrieve each of the four pieces, then reconnecting it as a whole shard. The Barbarian felt compelled and pushed for the completion of the heart, even defeat Nysrath’s own herald. The Barbarian felt compelled to visit a large building on the eastern side of Bal'kresh to complete the ritual which would bind the shard to a new host. Along the way they stopped at the Arcane Consortium to report their progress, but hid the shard. However due to its magical energy it emanated this was impossible. Master Librarian Athalas Starweaver summoned his mistress Grand Master Veridia Nightbloom immediately who demanded to see the item which shattered an orb of detection Athalas held in his hand. The players, especially the barbarian, may attempt to strike against Grand Master Veridia Nightbloom as she asks the players to hand over the artifact. This is currently where we are in the story.
