Good evening Jason. Great looking lumber. Been meaning to ask you. What do you do with cut off pieces of wood? Do you have a burn pile or do you haul it to the dump? Love your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Nice sawing, Jason. Just keep putting out content and I'll watch what you publish. You didn't mention that besides being easier on you, Wood Mizer sawdust is less waste than chainsaw chips. Bill
Love your videos! Great information for a newbie like myself. I'm looking at options to turn some logs into timber for a shop as well. How long did you let the timber dry before you started on the shop project? I've read mixed reviews on green lumber at how much and how quickly it will shrink. Great video!
Thank you! Some of this lumber went up green. Some had been milled for a while but still shrunk after installation. I haven’t really noticed any adverse effects of the shrinkage other than needing to add a few turns to the Timber Lok screws I used to fasten the 8x12s to steel posts.
amazing how square the timber is that comes off the mill. your lucky your milling doug fir, and pine, down here its eucalyptus, which is our hardwood, and you would be flat out lifting a 4x2 12ft long. great video as always, mate
Have you viewed The Bearded Carpenter video: NCNxMPPcdws Sawmill Shed Build, Start to Finish? He addressed keeping the mill head out of weather and dealing with clutter.
Oh I wondered when the Thanksgiving rooster would show...lol. Awesome wood on the mill. I like the fingers are faster than gravity on that big slab. Enjoying the content.
Some really nice-looking lumber there Jason. Holy cow was that guy using a cannon to hunt deer? Ann was wondering is that an apple tree past the mill? If it is what type of apples? Hope you and your family had a wonderful thanksgiving! Great video thumbs up.
So, just I was thinking how fortunate you've been of late not sawing nails when you paused the video to show the blade striking a bolt head. Strange coincidence. I liked this video. It was fun.
At 18:50 you described that wood as a pretty piece of wood and you almost don’t want to use it in your shop…. I totally get it, I burn oak and maple for firewood and sometimes I’ll be cutting into a really nice log with no knots and imagine that log as being used for furniture.
I literally took a chunk of maple that was about to go into my wood stove and turned it on my lathe into a beautiful bowl on Friday. I’m going to get pretty cold this winter if there’s no such thing as firewood anymore😂
Is there a limit switch for travel (a stop) on your mill? Say you are off loading boards and the mill gets to the end, will it stop? Or is it like some people that like to drive right through the stop sign? Lol.
You’re right it is a nice piece of wood too nice to turn into two by fours to the hidden in the wall. Surely there must be something you could make where it would show the grain and the beauty of the wood. stay safe and God bless 🇨🇦✌️
All I have too say is you do you if and or when they get tired of watching you there find something else to do yours is the good stuff thanks have a great Holiday
Not sick of you, Jason, not a bit. I am sick of hearing your neighbor shooting it up, though. Will that one (or both) string be open and visible when you make your shop stairs? That 4X is so pretty, it deserves a laser-cut design on it. Maybe your shop logo or something else cool.
You could probably hear those shots from your house!😂 at least one of those will be visible but the more I look at them, the more I’m think of something a bit more spectacular. I’m thinking sky bridge outside🤔😬
That’s a great question and the answer is no. The log lift hydraulics don’t push off of the mill, they push off legs that contact the ground. The heavier the log, the more pressure put straight to the ground.
"Tired of watching' a Craftsman at work, not too likely. Keep 'em coming Jason. Those are beautiful boards to be sure, I can imagine that they must be even better to look at up close and personal.
Good morning Jason I truly am enjoying your videos. I’ve been watching you since the start. I would like to watch you a little bit longer, but if you don’t put a goddamn mask on, I won’t be watching you much longer. Someday you’ll realize you should’ve listen to me when you’re on your knees on the kitchen floor. Trying to get enough air into your lungs to stand up. Stay safe and God bless you and the family.
Really enjoy your videos since we both have LT 35s. That thing is a beast for a one man non-production shop! Surprised a 36” log could be milled almost without notching since the specs show a 32” max. Do you center the pithpith in both axis when you mill?
Thank you! I was surprised by how little struggle I had with that one. I do try to center the pith. This one had a lot of taper on one side but the lumber came out pretty nice.
Hi Jason. I have 2-30 in logs sitting by my mill waiting for me. I was going to chain saw some of the width off but after seeing this I am going to put them up as is. I have the same mill as you. Wish me luck. I love your content and have watched for years. Please continue. You actually inspired me to get a mill. Havent looked back.
happy thanksgiving jason. love the content. monster log. one of the biggest i've ever seen you mill. nice to see your new chainsaw in action. i've been wondering, have you or are you still planning on doing a fire pit/gazebo combo? i remember you discussing it in a past video. maybe those beams could be used there? just like the saying goes...too many projects, not enough hours in the day. until next time, stay safe and happy.
Thank you, Chris. I was actually just looking at some footage I filmed for that fire pit project this morning. It’s still in the plans but it’s definitely been on the back burner.
good job on the LT 35. I have a LT 40 and after 22 years I still love it and enjoy cutting with it. Like your videos on everything you do. Get that truck done too.

Will do, Russ! Thank you!
Never ceases to amaze me how much useable timber is obtained from one log!……another great video Jason…….👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thank you, Chris! It’s all going to get used in my shop😎
Good looking lumber. Look forward to seeing the staircase
Never tire of the sawmill videos.
Thank you! I can’t wait to work with those Timbers.
This content is awesome TV in England is garbage the news is depressing always grateful for people like yourself .Staircase should be a good one
Thank you! I hardly watch TV myself. It’s all RUclips.
staircase sounds amazing. How long do you have to let the cut lumber dry?
It depends on the weather. I’ll probably let this sit until spring.
Absolutely love watching you saw up those monster logs! Can't wait to see what the end products will be. Thanks for letting us follow along.
Thank you, Bob! I can’t wait to work with that lumber.
Good evening Jason. Great looking lumber. Been meaning to ask you. What do you do with cut off pieces of wood? Do you have a burn pile or do you haul it to the dump? Love your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoy watching what you do with your mill and with the wood you produce. Would like to talk with you sometime. Be safe as always and enjoy. Smile.
So, Jason, which do you prefer; chainsaw mill or bandsaw mill? Be honest now.
Another great video. I jealous of the logs you have.
Dave
I prefer the chainsaw mill…. Said no one ever!😂
Nice sawing, Jason. Just keep putting out content and I'll watch what you publish. You didn't mention that besides being easier on you, Wood Mizer sawdust is less waste than chainsaw chips.
Bill
Thank you, Bill! The bandsaw is definitely more efficient.
Enjoyed the process of Milling such a large DF or spruce. I have several over sized logs to mill. Same techniques. Thank you.
Thank you!
Just putting them I love your show
Thank you, Mark!
Love the content, keep' em coming ;-)
Thanks, will do!
What kind of bush or is that behind the sawmill with the red berries on it ?
That’s an apple tree.
Thought that might be what was , they are still small yet . Thanks for the reply , we enjoy your videos keep them coming .
keep em coming watch them all. I'm a woodmizer owner as well, nothing like sawing out a giant ass beam !

Just imagine if you had to go to Parr Lumber and buy those 2 planks that are 4" x 23.5" x16.5 long......LOL
They’d probably call me to order them😂
Some really nice-looking lumber there Jason. Holy cow was that guy using a cannon to hunt deer? Ann was wondering is that an apple tree past the mill? If it is what type of apples? Hope you and your family had a wonderful thanksgiving! Great video thumbs up.
Thank you, Craig! I thought maybe he was using some of my eco-ammo from the previous video😂😂 that is an apple tree but I don’t know what variety.
Hey Jason. You keep sending out the videos. We'll keep watching. Great job today.
Thank you, Daniel! I will!

As you say, some amazing lumber, beautiful. I'm sure you will turning it into some wonderful items, look forward to that, enjoy
Thank you! I can’t wait to work with that lumber.
Man, I'm drooling over those logs! Huge! Takes a minute to cant it up but once you do the lumber starts flying off that mill.
This one went a lot better than usual for such an oversized log. I was eyeballing my 2x6s yesterday. I’m going to need to use them soon. 😉
No Jason keep videos coming !! I've been looking forward to upper floor build for several months 😅😊
Thank you, Charles! I’ll be getting to that soon.
4"x23.5" stair stringers??? That will allow for some rather deep stair treads. Be sure to video the construction process of those shop stairs.
Oh, I will. They’ll end up looking like massive beams under the stair cuts. I’m planning on live edge treads.
Nice vid
I’m surprised the WoodMizer doesn’t have failsafe guard for those clamp arms
Thank you! That was my fault. I was trying to use them to flip the cant up.

There is a stop but no switch. The saw head won’t fall off the end but it’ll try to keep moving and slip the belt on the drive motor.

Good stuff buddy.must be deer season there as it is here in mi.
Thank you! It sounded like anti-tank season😂
Was the chain square filed the reason it did so well?
It had a 10 degree grind on it but the bar is pretty wide. I think that helped it cut flat.
well. at least this time it wasnt the rooster crowing. lol
Well, actually 😂😂😂 the rooster could be heard in this one.
