    A very nice video. I found it interesting the Kerry Blue is the same size as the Airedale. We have a Airedale and he seems to be a giant compared to other Terriers including Kerry Blues. Our next Airedale will like Griffon. You have very nice dogs.

      The Kerry will always be the best watch dog out of the 3; however, when we lost him the other two picked up the duty and kind of split it. Now there is a new Kerry and she is taking the job over. Interestingly, she does not bark at the school bus or mail man... the Airedale does.

    • @jamesconner8374

      My experience is a good watchdog needs to know/ read people and make good decisions on wether the person is a threat then,or changes into a threat even though the dog is familiar with a regular visitor. People can inexplicably change for very little reason and we humans tend to not see it, are complacent until it's too too late. I love all 3 but without a question, the airedale is better quicker to see that as well as fearless. I've been using airedales instead of shepherds to train/ donate for handicapped..for years. I switched to airedales as my k9 partners instead of shepherds because they are good judges, quick to apply as much or little threat as needed. They also aren't massive shedders, don't have the hip and elbow issues so have much more than 5-6 years of work . I have a 9 year old and over 16 that not only still work but still hog, bear, coon and bird hunt with me and canoe. To each his own. Airedales were the first and well deserved, war dogs.Look up Jack the Airedale. He had been shot several times and kept going through war zone and died after multiple injuries and still completed his tasks. They, for me aren't barkers unless a good reason and will stop when needed. Affectionate and undaunted. You wouldn't believe when you s e the 16+ running, hunting or working that he was that old but for his grey face. Clear eyes, sharp mind and deeply loyal. The 9 year old was a show dog. I got her may of 2022? She fell right into all the excercise, work, and hunting . I love shepherds but 2 years of training and then maybe able to work till 7? I want my dogs to have long, healthy lives with me work and play! Because I kept hunting dogs and shepherds I spent so much time cleaning up after the different species hunters when off work. Now the dales work and play with me, and I get the fullest out of our relationship and they do to. They aren't for everyone . They will make decisions if you don't so being a leader and consistent is important.If they know what you expect, nothin them . Mine have passed average age 16 and working/ hunting with reg. Vet visitsi have trama vests for work made for each dog and protective vests/ collars for hog/ bear/ cougar hunting. They all seemed to pass soon after taking the from the work and hunt routine they know so my old guy, he's still hammer down and happy wide open. Hunters and departments give me flack because they aren't the breeds they expect..but..the dales win them over just by being the great all around dogs they are. Whatever your breed, or mix..just love them and give them the best life..and be good to everyone. Life is better with harmony. For me, dales have Bern the beauty of work, play and the reason after loosing my husband and twins in February, that I get up, and carry on.

      Airedales are killer watchdogs. I had 3 of them.
      They would go nuts when someone's outside or at the door. And they can back it up if necessary. One summer night one of my neighbors was walking his dog, and his dog peed on our lawn. My sweet mellow female Airedale exploded THROUGH the metal screen door and attacked them both in the street. I had to run out and pull her off. Airedales are sweet and loyal to the family, including kids, but adult strangers, especially men, need to be "introduced " by the Airedale owners, or things can get ugly.

    That Kery Terrier has a cut tail, something as far I know of is entirely illegal?

    • @FireBeeKBT
      @FireBeeKBT  10 лет назад +5

      He has a tail that was docked too short by a not very smart person. That is the way he came to me and I love him regardless of his tail. Also docking is still very legal in the USA. While I would prefer a long tail he is boy and he is perfect the way he is. Thank you for caring though :)

    • @steveg2251
      @steveg2251 4 года назад +1

      Further to the owner's comment, there is a minimum tail criteria in show circles, there is an allowance made for some docking as in certain cases the dogs tail will end up like a piece of broccoli. Our Kerry's tail was docked early in his life and he's a happy dog.
      These are the UK KC regs from their website.
      Tail
      Previously customarily docked.
      Docked: Set on high and carried erect.
      Undocked: Set on high of moderate length to give an overall balanced appearance. Thick at the base and evenly tapering to tip, straight as possible and carried jauntily. An excessively gay or curled tail undesirable.

    • @dallasworth8158
      @dallasworth8158 9 лет назад +1

      Darth Angral Kerries are actually considered to be a hypoalergenic dog since they don't shed (They have hair instead of fur like a poodle). i got one a few years ago since my sister and I wanted a dog but she's got some pretty bad allergies. We've had absolutely no trouble. Airdales are apparantly also on the list of "hypoalergenic" dogs. :)

    • @Christopherjamesmurphy21
      @Christopherjamesmurphy21 8 лет назад

      there is no such thing as a totally non allergenic dog but there are however dogs better suited for people with allergies and your looking at 3 of them. also Portuguese water dogs and poodles are good too. there's a whole long list of them. good luck in your search :)

    • @JenniferVancamp
      @JenniferVancamp 5 лет назад

      Out of the 3 the Kerry is the way to go, but you must do so only if you are ready to take on the special attitude of a top terrier. They are smart, strong willed dogs who will easily take over the leadership in a house if the people can be manipulated. Some say they are hard to train, I think they are fun to train and belong in homes where training is done. They are great sport competition dogs and truly a loyal companion. They do well in Agility, Barnhunt, Lure Course, Dock Diving, Rally, Obedience, etc and are incredibly versatile at their work. They excel when kept busy and well exercised. They make fabulous running companions, Both of mine have had this job! Not all do well with other dogs or small animals, they must be raised in a well socialized environment, around these animals, and taught to respect them, this is true of a lot of terriers.

    • @FireBeeKBT

      It would really depend on the individuals, I would not want to watch though! A Kerry does not let go once it locks on, and an Airedale isn't likely to let go either. They can both be fierce blockheads! A Kerry is more loyal, an Airedale more of a clown.

    Are they the same sex? This has been four years, are either of them hurt by this time. Especially if they are same sex, I worry about that. Seems a pattern among my friends, especially with any terrier.

    • @FireBeeKBT
      @FireBeeKBT  7 лет назад +7

      They are the same sex yes, both fixed. They never ever hurt each other even though they can look quite fierce! The Kerry passed away from cancer last fall and it makes my heart swell to see so many views of this video, I never expected it to get the views it has. I miss him every day. But Griffin has a new little sister Kerry who is in some of my new videos and he is a gentleman and very tolerant of her childish abuse. In some situations it can be very hard to have multiple males or multiple females (our Scottie is also a fixed male), but these 3 boys loved each other. It is always a smart choice to feed them in separate rooms, so there is no food aggression, but at my house they all sniff and check each others bowls anyways. Thank you for your comment and for watching.

    • @jimquantic
      @jimquantic 7 лет назад +3

      Re. the loss, I always tell people "if you are a dog owner, no words are necessary" but if you have never loved a dog--there are no words that can make you understand".
      Amazing dogs you had/have though, and proof that there can be big differences from animal to animal, like your boys (as terriers especially) getting along. Still, as a general rule, mixing the sex works pretty well. I had a fierce male, and I mean fierce but our female Aussy, she treated him roughly--and he took it, never hurting his female
