      @Cadillac Kadafi unfortunately this one appears to be cancelled for all intents and purposes. There was a firsthand account of someone who attended a PR event with the following intel:
      “I have some bad news with regards to Tribune Tower East. I went to a networking event at the Tribune Tower last night. It included a tour of the new residences and amenity spaces (unbelievably cool btw). The tour was led by Lee Golub himself. He leads Golub’s US division and Golub is part of the development team for both phases of the Tribune Tower. He was telling a bunch of stories and eventually started talking about the 1422′ Phase 2 Tower. According to him the tower is definitely not happening and they never considered it a serious proposal in the first place. They just wanted something to show as part of the proposal for phase 1. He considered the tower way too tall and grand and that it never made economic sense. Something will happen there someday but it won’t be nearly so tall.”

    At the rate businesses are leaving Chicago, on top of post-Covid remote working and crime all over the place, I don't see the Chicago's skyline changing much in the coming decade. NOBODY wants to work law enforcement in the city....and retirements and resignations are far outnumbered the supply of new officers. The city is in big trouble. Who would build a super tall in that environment?

    • @TheOldTapeArchive
      @TheOldTapeArchive Год назад +1

      @@Jeschitown I read the article citing those CoStar stats...including this pile of jibberish:
      "Today, Chicago is also seen as a role model for equitable recovery and economic growth. Our commitment to drive sustainable, inclusive growth in order to realize healthier communities and improve the livelihoods of all Chicago residents - especially those in historically underserved neighborhoods - is significant".
      Companies with only 20 employees are included in the study. Those relocations added 59K jobs, but still the city lost 45K residents. Those relocation numbers are in the rear view mirror. As stated, the city is in the EARLY throes of a collapse. Citadel, Boeing, and most recently McDonald's put out a statements about the unsustainability of the crime problem...with the former 2 pulling out.
      When police cease even chasing criminals, and the officers risk being sued and their every action is scrutinized by COPA, you get what you have now: it can't even round up half of the needed police recruits. Barring a change of direction, the city is in big trouble. Corporate HQ nameplates are largely irrelevant...but even those numbers will eventually decline.

    1st building is ONE THOUSAND METERS??!! Think that out people. WTC-Tower 1 was less than half that at a mere 419m. The tallest building in the world (the Burj Khalifa) is only at 825m. Not only that, but he says it will only be a 74 story building. SERIOUSLY?!? Talk about cathedral ceilings! 😳🧐
    That makes each story 13.5m high, or for those Chicagoans, that's about a 45ft floorplan/floor, from floor to ceiling! That is a HUGE waste of space, for such a massive expensive per square foot of property value!

    Unpopular Opinion 😲: Regardless of pending developments. Chicago as a whole is extremely boring and mediocre compared to NY/LA. Especially outside of the downtown core. All of the outside areas(including the suburbs) feel “dated”. The old areas throughout the city lack the character/charm that NY has. Don’t even get me started on the brutal winters and ugly cityscape that LA annihilates in comparison. In addition to the ridiculous taxes, underdeveloped neighborhoods stemming from redlining, racial Inquiry, crime, etc. Toronto is truly the next best thing in terms of a 21st century Lakeside metropolis. Not Chicago.

      oooooof. First of all, Chicago's taxes are less than la's. Where to start. Boring how? Have you seen LA' downtown? Its embarrassing. Yeah, "dated." its called history. Much of Chicago is beautiful old charming buildings from the turn of the previous century. Are you honestly suggesting that the city scape of a hodge podge of ugly slumburbs even compares to that of one of the World Class cities? You're just getting silly...and obviously trolling.

      I agree!!! Finally!!! I’m from California when I moved to Chicago I couldn’t believe how ran down it was outside of downtown. People from Chicago brag about their skyline so much but don’t see what’s around it outside of it! Lmao! At least in LA or San Francisco there is many beautiful clean parts! Just as there is bad. Places that are welcoming unlike Chicago. Where only downtown ask lake front areas are the only inviting areas of the city. Then I moved out to the suburbs into Cicero. Even more boring. I came right back to California. Chicago gets old. When you’re from California, we don’t just got one city. We got multiple.

      @@jeffburdick869 hahaha LA has so many projects that are under way that blow anything in Chicago out the water. LA and San Francisco are world class cities, home to your tech and entertainment. And the reason LA/California is hosting the Olympics in 2028. 💪🏼

      @@californiamade5608 LMAO. Sure, they do. Chicago is a World Class City. LA is a bunch of slumburbs. LOL, yeah, the reason is because developed cities don't want it!

      @@californiamade5608 Chicago run down outside of downtown? You're just trolling and obviously have never even been to Chicago.
