I’m really hooked into this universe. I wanna know more about these imitators and the task force that’s hunting them down. The worldwide emergency angle would make for an engaging serialized story.
_You're entering a place of sound, but also of mind. There's a man in the corner, but he's actually a robot. It already was a Twilight Zone episode!! "The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street" basically! Or at least, the same plot device - being suspicious of your neighbors. (Or the one at the bus stop diner where they have to figure out who was lying about being a passenger.) Yes, I have seen so many of these episodes so many times.
This feels like initially a commentary on the fear of the make believe that fully grown adults are willing to let themselves succumb to (like conspiracy theorists) who become so radicalized by it they partake in acts of violence... But then it kinda dunked on that commentary by basically saying the conspiracy theorists are right.
Man love you and the amount of creativity in your stories, I wish there was a never ending playlist of your stories because I never get bored! You’re literally the best

Holy shit, that twist! I love it! Spoiler alert! Don't scroll down unless you want spoilers! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . If they had gone about this situation better, they would have been able to find the real imitators. But too many innocent people were killed.
This story would have been 100x better if there ended up being no actual monster, and the militia was just exactly what the old lady described them as. Because we deal with that in real life, all the time, people taking their delusional conspiracy theories so far that they commit atrocious acts of violence and cruelty. that right there is actual horror imo. The way this story confirms the fears as an actual otherworldly force ala invasion of the body snatchers feels phoned in, hokey and ultimately demeaning to the point the story was trying to make.
it umm...kind of already is. I don't know if you've been keeping up on some of the insane shit conspiracy theorists are peddling lately, but it definitely does sometimes involve claims at least as nutty as "there are fake people hiding among us", and disturbingly large portions of the population are buying into it, and getting more and more aggressive about it every day it feels like.
Pretty much every single night since the same, 2011/2012. Helps me beat my insomnia and helps sleep, hands down the best narrator ive ever listened to. Legendary status 👑
Not really. The Officers are portrayed as cruel, power-hungry madmen, and the one imitator we see just wanted to keep herself safe and even went out of her way to attempt to save two kids. We know it wasn't her original plan to kill them because it specifically showed us that she only turned on them after they'd seen too much. The imitators kill to survive, but the SFF take pleasure in lording their power over the general public. The real monster here is extremism.
@@_spilled_milk_pro-champion3871 Thank you. I feel like that was missed by a lot of people here. Appreciate you taking the time to think a little deeper than the surface level "bad guys were right" stuff I've been reading.
ooo, that was good. Not very scary in my opinion, the twist wasn't too shocking, but damn was it cathartic hearing paramilitary idiots getting served all the karma they deserve. I'm choosing to believe "the kids have seen too much" means she's going to bring them with her when she escapes the autonomous zone so they won't have to deal with being tagetted again. This whole world sounds so interesting, I hope we get to see more of it in the future.
I find it concerning that somebody wrote a semi-competent allegory for fascism, for then to only turn around and be all "The fascists were right all along! There's secret scary enemies all around us who want to murder us!" Like, I sure as shit hope this was a kid who thought they were doing a clever twists because otherwise this is very yeiks.
I dont think so, I think the author wrote this up for the readers to have their own interpretations, yes, there are imitators, but we dont really see this particular one being that evil. it just wanted to escape, and the ones it killed was an old woman(maybe the old woman tried to kill it or something), and 2 paramilitary bastards that kill without confirmation of anything, leading to the burning down of the building the kids were living in, and the deaths of the other countless non imitators. and the imitator even saved the kids that were going to be killed by the SFF, and let them live even after they "had seen too much"
@@theemeraldking3251 well, I think it did though, it even said "its safe now", if it didnt really care, it wouldnt have tried so hard to save the kids when it saw them in the hallway in the first place

@@bigdadddyd123 I think so as well, but disagree with the idea of validating these sorts of beliefs.
The horror is less the Imitators themselves and more the insane reaction of people. The real monsters are the militia.
