HOW DO I BECOME AN EXCHANGE STUDENT IN JAPAN?
In order to be an exchange student, you are required to have a certain level of Japanese speaking skill. Then, apply to an exchange program. Then you have to determine whether you are able to pass through the selection process (it varies between exchange companies.)
2. WHICH EXCHANGE COMPANY ARE YOU TRAVELLING WITH?
I was accepted into STS WORLDWIDE based in Europe. There is no STS branch in Australia, making communication sort of hard. So you should check if this company is in your home country.
